I love webcomics. From Broodhollow; "I guess we all could use a good night's staring-at-the-ceiling-for-eight-hours."

Fun-fact: "Being perky isn't an excuse to eat people"... I think I need to go to bed soon. Thinking things like this is probably bad for my mental health.

Oddly, my avatar was not something I found searching for random creepy images. I was specifically wanting a cicada husk as my profile picture. Just want you all to have another reason to fear me

Does anyone else believe that humans are generally "good"? We have the potential for evil, but it's considered better to do the "right" thing. Makes you wonder, what would we be like if truely "evil"?

Roleplaying Career: ...Not much actually. I used to be part of a gaming forum, but I wasn't all that interested in just talking about the game, so I started lurking in the off-topic boards of the forum. In the roleplaying sub-forum, I got my first taste of... I guess roleplaying in general. I'd never played any roleplaying games like Dungeons & Dragons, too little friends for that. I do, for some reason, have a Dungeons & Dragons game that I have never played(I bought it as a kid because the owlbear on the cover looked cool). I was, I guess, pretty active on the roleplaying board, and I created one semi-popular roleplay, but I've matured a lot since then in a lot of ways, and I want to see how I do on an "actual" roleplaying forum.
Roleplaying Preferences: Like I said, my roleplaying experience is pretty much bare minimum. I only sorta remember what roleplays I took part in on the previously mentioned forum, along with some I tried to start, which never took off. I think the roleplay in which I was most active was a comicbook-style "superhero" roleplay I'd started, and while I still think that was pretty cool, my interests have evolved since then and I want to try other things. I don't like roleplaying as pre-existing characters, most of the time. I like creating new characters, new universes, and prefer to play with others' original characters rather than their impressions of ones which others created. As for pace, I like action-packed roleplays, that also allow deep stories. For genre... I dunno. I like unrealistic things, with a bit of an edge. Not happy cartoonish things, but also not boring realistic roleplays.
Hobbies and interests: I want to be an artist... of some sort. I'd say that I'm mediocre at writing and drawing, but nothing special. I've been trying to learn 3D-modeling for a while, with mixed results. I want a job in some sort of game design, although like I said I'm not particularly good at any single thing. I love video games like Terraria, Don't Starve, Spelunky, and Nuclear Throne, although I admit that I'm not that good at them. I like Five Nights At Freddy's for its "lore" and stuff. I LOVE the internet, and most of the things people create on it(although there does seem to be a large amount of unnecessary porn, but who am I to judge?). I love webcomics and web serials like Homestuck, Worm, Pact etc. I also have a keen interest in horror and grimdark stuffs such as Don't Hug Me I'm Scared, Salad Fingers and miscellaneous creepypasta, although I'm a wuss and don't like being scared. If we all had a "natural element" like fire, ice, electricity, light, air etc; I think that mine would be Madness.
Equilibrium. It was what Duel was made of, his very essence. At least, most of the time. Whenever equilibrium broke...
Nonono. Duel felt like he was being torn apart. Both sides of his being, complete opposites whose very existing negated the effects of the other, waged war in his body. They fought for complete control, both trying to overturn the balance that kept Duel sane. His green side, that usually only occupied his left, was attracted to things that sometimes Duel couldn't even detect. Instability, the potential for chaos. His right, the purple, came out during complete chaos, dangerous situations, and physical violence. However... the current conflict here appeared to have extinguished. With no one being hurt at the moment, his wild side lost interest... letting the other take control.
My first post up. REALLY hope that I didn't make any horrible mistakes. I didn't realize that the invitation was only to a select few, I thought they were calling any willing to fight. Obviously, the Emperor wouldn't call upon a barely known conman so this is what I came up with. Hope it didn't seem too much like it was made up on the spot.
In case someone didn't get it, Ves is now mascarading as the old Orc general using illusions, just to see if he could and to see if he can catch anything interesting at the meeting. Obviously, this was not well thought out by him, or me, but he really doesn't care if he gets caught. After all, Ves was given the letter willingly and impersonating someone isn't a crime if they do not care(probably).
Vesanior walked into the dim speakeasy. It was a tiny place that not many people knew of, which often made it the site of many shady, or down-right illegal dealings. However most of that business was conducted in the night, and few visited the speakeasy during the day. So when Vesanior walked in it was completely empty, except for the surly Orc barkeeper. He was old, with wrinkled dark green skin and hair whitened by age. He had a long beard, several parts braided with metal locks. His dress was simple, a leather tunic and wool pants, both stained with food and drink. He was currently rubbing the counter with a wet, soupy rag, trying to remove an old blood stain in the wood.
Vesanior crossed the room, nearly slipping in a puddle of spilt beer. He sat down on one of the stools. The barkeep noticed, and sighed before pausing his cleaning to fill a wooden mug with cheap beer. As he placed it on the table by Vesanior, the Fae greeted him. "Hello, Jrax. How's it been for you?" The old Orc grunted, a man of few words. After a few more minutes of scrubbing at the stain he appeared to give up, and moved the stool on his side of the counter to be opposite to Vesanior's. "You've heard 'bout the Westgate?" the Orc finally said. Vesanior's mouth went a little dry at that. "Unfortunately, yes," he replied. "Worried 'bout that Garden?" "Course not," said Vesanior with a grin. "It has existed for hundreds of years, and it can exist for hundreds more. Dunno what the fuss is with those "Scorn" things." "Still, the Emperor reckons they enough to be pulling out the big guns. Ya know, the Artifacts." "Mmm, really is about time for that." "Yeah, he's also sent out a bunch of these letters." The Orc said gesturing to something on the table. It was a official, very important looking letter. Vesanior had not even seen the Orc place it there. "May I?" he said. The Orc nodded. The Fae gingerly picked up and read the letter.
To Jrax Stromclar, who fought as general of the old Orcian legion. We, the nobles of Caldania, have heard of your courage and strength in the past wars. Now, in this time of crisis we wish for you to join us on a mission to stop that which blights our great nation, the Scorned. Please come to discuss... At that point, Vesanior stopped reading for it was mostly more official blabber. However his eye did catch on the signature in the bottom. That of the Emperor himself... "Are you going to-" he started but was cut off by the Orc's sudden laughter. "Really?" The Orc chuckled. "Look at me now! I am no soldier! Maybe years ago, but today I am an old man." The Orc wheezed some, catching his breath. He then noticed that the Fae's gaze was still fixed on the letter. "You can keep it, if you want. Probably someone you would convince to buy it," said the Orc. Silently Vesanior nodded his thanks, still fixated on the letter. He said farewell, and emptied a large amount of coins on the table. More than enough to pay for the beer, the Orc noticed as he put it away. He looked to the door, but the Fae had already left. Finally the Orc shrugged, and went back to cleaning.
A tall armored man stood at the door of the palace. Showing an official envelope to the guards, he was let in. He walked through the palace, eyeing the great treasures lining the hallways. Finally he reached the dining room door, where a servant ushered him in. Seeing the Emperor he bowed. "Jrax Stromclar, former general of the great Orcian legion, my lord."
Creaking noises echoed and leaves fell from the trees as Duel leaped from branch to branch. Nearby he heard a commotion, which made him pause and turn in its direction. Hmmm he thought. It sounds like the trees have stopped falling... Something else is going on. He tried to get a glimpse of what was going on from his current position, but the tree's branches obscured his view. I really shouldn't he thought. Wasn't it curiosity that killed the cat?... Just as he started to leave, he heard some more noise that sounded like speaking. Well... Technically I'm not a cat! He turned and followed the noise, leaping from tree to tree until he reached the center of the action. Trees have stopped falling so I should be safe, as long as I stay here he thought to himself. His odd eyes stared out from the spaces between the leaves. Who the heck are these peop-SNAP!Crap he thought as he fell from the tree.
@Lord Zee Er... well this is going to sound like a stupid question, but I could also be disastrously wrong if I try to guess. Are the "guests" supposed to be the champions called by the Emperor, or are our characters supposed to meet up later?
Sometimes, Duel hated his life. Basically everything he did, and anything that happened could allow one of his other "personalities" to take control. He ran behind a tree to catch his breath. Not because he had limited stamina, he could probably keep running for hours. He stopped because too much exhilaration could allow it out. His angry, wilder side. Brutal violence and chaos would let it take control, which is why he had started running whenever trees started falling down. He didn't want to wait and see who or what that could be. If they'd attacked him, he would have definitely lost control.
Description- Lime-green skin, hair is like pumpkin orange grass. Orange veins ornately worked under his skin. Medium height but almost bone-thin. Often takes different guises as other races. Name- Vesanior Gender- Male Race- Semper Fae Age- Biological: 21, Actual: 161, Rebirths:3 Personality- A trickster and a conman. Loves the feeling of taking advantage of others. Reckless, almost suicidal due to near immortality. Backstory- Every thing Ves had done, he had done for his god. At least, that's what he sometimes half-heartedly told himself. But nobody believed that, perhaps himself least of all. Really, his prime motivation was boredom. A man like he can only live a few lives before the world seems to lose it's splendor. Or perhaps Ves simply lost his. His first life was perhaps his best. He had stayed in the Gardens for its entirety, learned things and trying all the Gardens had to offer. But even the great wonders of the Gardens were finite.
In the middle of his second life, he became bored and went out to explore the world. Then was when he learned his affinity for trickery. At first, he stole well-guarded riches from nobles. This did prove to alleviate his boredom, at least until he was caught and sent to prison. After that, he proved to be much more subtle. Taking to the streets of many small towns, he sold "magic potions" and "lucky amulets". Using illusion, he could easily fake their effects and he made fortunes, leaving each town before his trickery was discovered. Now on his third life, Ves finds himself bored again, searching for something to waste his time. Magical abilities- Skilled in Illusionary and Suggestive magic, also has a bag of 1-use charms containing varied spells. Combat abilities- Skilled with a bow, used in conjunction with magic to confuse his enemies. Motive- A little bit of everything, but mostly boredom.
