Character Name: Alex ‘Twighlight’ Genos
Quote: “It’s not that I don’t like you. It’s just that people are naturally un-loveable idiots.”
Height: 6’0”
Age: 28
Appearance: Alex, or The Twilight as all know him, is somewhat of an enigma. When one takes him in there is absolutely no doubt in anyone's mind that he simply shouldn’t be that impressive. His taller figure isn’t filled with any particularly large amount of muscle, his arms appear to be lanky and somewhat awkwardly long, and his posture seems fairly relaxed and uncaring at all times. Despite this none can deny that there is something incredibly… Unsettling, about this man.
It all starts with his eyes. They have no pupils, no color, nothing but a dark black that has one barely visible crimson dot in the middle of it that acts as the only way to tell exactly what direction he’s looking. His face is long and gaunt, like someone who’s lived their life for too long and simply seen too much in their time. Every inch of his skin is pale as a vampire, making him appear as if the sun has never truly glowed upon his skin and his hair is only there to contrast it as it shines black as the night with no moon. That’s where the human part ends and everything else begins.
All along his arms are black feathers which ruffle with a ghostly sound in every move he makes. The further down his arm you go, the more feathers there are until you reach his hands. Gone are any traces of human and instead you’re only met with gnarled and terrifying looking fingers that taper down into deadly 4-inch talons that look as if they could shred straight through metal if he tried hard enough. The largest feature anyone notices however are the ones on his back. Massive, powerful, almost majestic black wings stretch from his shoulders outwards until they cover a massive expanse of area. Through ways no one seems to understand, these wings are able to fold upon themselves until he can somewhat subtly stuff them under his long coat, however it’s clear to anyone who’s looking even remotely closely that he’s hiding something underneath. All who have seen him say only one thing: he looks like a creature out of a gothic novel, or perhaps an old horror masterpiece. Either way, even among Rifters, this man is not natural.
Ethnicity: Asian/American
History:Alex was always an odd fellow. Even as a child he was somewhat of a loner, and chose to ignore his peers rather than make any true friends. He didn’t mind this either, it wasn’t like he hated everyone else. Instead he simply enjoyed reading books and learning so that one day he could hopefully follow in his father's footsteps and become a translator for Ambassadors. It was always his dream to travel, and one day he finally got the opportunity. He and his family had planned a trip towards the Netherlands however they never reached their destination due to a tragedy. After a horrific crash, Alex lost both his parents and became severely paralyzed from the waist down, trapping him in a wheelchair. From this moment on, Alex considered his life cruel, and he refused to let it consume him. He would follow in his parents footsteps, and he would make his father proud.
Rift History: Alex had finally begun to achieve his dream when the first Rift opened. His reputation as a translator and local genius was flourishing quickly, granting him a good deal of satisfaction. When the Rift above Russia opened, he was ushered over with many of the American scientists as their translator for the occasion. Truly, he was thrilled at the chance to prove himself in the time of excitement. When he reached the Rift, he did his job well, and was commended. For him it was the happiest moment of his life… However it wasn’t to last.
War History: Alex, unlike most, knew within only a week or two that something was horribly, horribly wrong. He was having vivid nightmares, horrific thoughts, and murderous tendencies. Something within him was changing and he knew it. One night he had a dream that was far more vivid than the rest of an absolute massacre happening far off. When he woke up he had an entirely undeniable urge to follow and so follow it he did. The next morning he bought a ticket and traveled to a distant city within Brazil for no other reason than the fact that he felt called to it. Once he reached the city, he was at a loss for why he was there… Until a week later, when the second Rift appeared. He knew somehow this was connected to his dream however he never figured out why until a long, long time later when the Rift wars began to truly take place. Since he still had an undeniably inexplicable calling he never left that city and had even made a life there, until one day he witnessed why he had been urged so powerfully to stay. A Titan gained their abilities, and began to wreak havoc on the city… The first Titan the world ever saw. He was terrified and fascinated by this occurrence and realized the reason he had been called to here was because of the death. There was so much death, everywhere, and he could feel it in the air. Every person the beast killed, he predicted with ease long before they were slaughtered and for some reason despite the carnage never once did he feel that he himself was in danger. Only two days later he gained his own abilities and realized he himself was a Titan as he rose from his wheelchair, his legs now strong and powerful. A Titan which, unlike the rest, still had something that made him far more dangerous: his brain intact. Using this he became a terrifying influence in the war and because of his wings was named “The Angel of Death’. This name was changed however after one horrific battle which nearly lost the Order the war called ‘The Battle at Twilight’. When the Rifters were losing a fight and just as the light of twilight appeared Alex arrived in the light of the horizon, turning the battle by his lonesome. People described him as a demon of unstoppable strength as he attacked while letting out a terrifying shriek. He came upon the enemies with a bloody vengeance that killed an uncountable amount of soldiers, and ever since then, he would be called The Angel of Twilight.
Alliance:The Hybrids. Many will deny it, but Twilight is the closest the Wildlands have to a ruler.
Rift: Russian and Brazil
Abilities: Twilight is considered the only Rifter to have gained abilities from two separate Rifts, making him a terrifying force to be reckoned with. The Russian Rift did not give him as many abilities as most however he certainly gained two: Twilight is able to tell when someone is close to death by seeing their future, and he has the ability to temporarily (and in some unique cases, permanently) change people's body chemistry to make them his own instruments of war. This means, as long as he is allowed a large portion of time with a Rifter (somewhere around an hour to a day depending on who they are), Twilight can grant what he calls a ‘gift’ to these people. He then alters their bodies to be faster, stronger, and deadlier as well as granting them greater focus which can allow their powers to be much more potent.
Besides this, he is granted the abilities all Titans are given. He has enough strength to throw incredibly heavy objects and withstand a terrifying amount of force. He’s impossibly fast, almost faster than the regular eye can see, and his talons are razor sharp. His wings do indeed allow him the ability to fly however only for a short amount of time, and his vision is incredibly powerful thanks to his bird-like eyes. Like all Titans, it’s considered impossible to kill him by normal means (such as physical wounds from weapons), due to his ability to regenerate from certainly fatal wounds. During the wars he proved his strength when fighting the Chimera himself, as he battled the Titan to what some say is a standstill. Still many have noted that if this were the case, the Chimera would not roam the world as he does today.
Side effects: With powers so incredible, there must be downsides. Twilight, like all Titans, can only be as strong and as fast as his energy allows. This means he must always have a strong source of food and water at hand which means that he is forced to rely on the Britain Rifters and keep on good terms with them. Beyond this, his vision can be used against him if he is forced to look into a bright light, and while it’s incredibly difficult to injure him he can still feel pain.
His ability to change people is incredibly limiting as well. Not only does it take a long time, it proves to be fatal on nearly all of his victims after the first few days. Only a select few have ever survived, however they are thrown into a blood lust whenever they feel they are threatened, making this much more of a curse than a blessing as he claims.
Mission: Twilight believes that the War was the greatest thing to ever happen to the world. From the way he sees it, all of the death and destruction only did one thing: create a better place. He knows the Order is something incredible, as it unified the world under one name in the prospect of peace which had never before been done. Not only this, it also was able to be used in order to create an entire new nation for Rifters in no less than a year, yet another impossible task. Because of this Twilight sees war as a catalyst for change, and thinks a new war will create an even better place for himself, and everyone else.
Weaknesses: Twilight is an egotistical maniac, and he knows it. Despite this it still tends to be his greatest downfall. He considers himself to be the most powerful Rifter there is, and even though he will never admit it there's no doubt that because he is a Titan, his brain is constantly being warped into something twisted. He thinks himself unbeatable and unkillable, and therefore takes what he claims are ‘calculated’ risks that will one day bring him down.
He also has an intense aversion to pain due to him rarely ever feeling it because his body is, as he calls it, ‘unbreakable’.
Strengths and Talents: Despite everything Twilight is still incredibly intelligent. He speaks 6 different languages fluently, understands economics better than most, and has trained himself in some impressive hand to hand fighting in the 8 years since the war. Not only this but he has practiced a good deal of sword play so that when one day a new war breaks out, he can further embrace his image as an Angel of Death.
Fears: Twilight fears himself. He knows he’s become, and is still becoming, a monster. Despite this he can’t help himself and is watching himself spiral into further madness. Somewhere deep down he knows what he’s doing is wrong, but for him it’s too late to go back.
