Despite his strategic mind, his introverted nature makes it difficult for him to be an authoritative leader. He is compassionate, caring deeply for his friends and family, and he believes that even prisoners of war should be treated like people. He is hopelessly shy around women in any social setting. Family Name - Tanzo Family Bloodline trait - Takame Village - Sand Village
Background - The Tanzo clan is revered across Sunagakure for their mastery over birds of prey. The second youngest of seven siblings, Ryozan was faced with immense pressure to succeed in his falconry and ninja training. Upon entering the academy, he was given his very own falcon, Tsumemaru. He formed a closer bond with his falcon than with any of his classmates, and despite his prestigious family name, the other students thought of him as a bit of a weirdo. However, when it came to academics, he was top of his class, attaining the rank of Genin with ease.
As a Genin, his sensei was worried that Ryozan would go too far, too fast, and held him and his team back from harder missions. Ryozan was a talented shinobi, but he was still young and inexperienced, and had quite a bit to learn about teamwork. He pestered his sensei numerous times to let him take the Chuunin exams, but his sensei held him back, saying it was for his own good.
When Ryozan was 14, his mother was killed on a mission. The entire clan mourned the loss of Shizuka Tanzo, and Sunagakure felt the loss of one of its greatest falconers. Dealing with this grief forced Ryozan to grow up a bit. It was the first thing he lost that he truly cared about, and he sought solace in his friends. Ryozan calmed down a bit afterwards, becoming less hasty, and less reckless. Finally, his sensei allowed his squad to take the Chuunin exams, and he passed on his first try.
When war broke out, Ryozan was fortunate to be assigned elsewhere during the battle of Recovunx Pass. His sensei and two eldest siblings were not so fortunate. Any idle thoughts of using the war to prove himself were instantly banished. Now he just wants to bring an end to this war and protect the ones he cares about.
Equipment - Tsumemaru - Although technically classified as a ninja tool, Ryozan sees his falcon as his partner. The two are inseparable, eating at the same table, sleeping in the same room, and even bathing together. Tsumemaru is trained in combat and surveillance, and since he is linked to Ryozan's chakra, is more resilient than a typical falcon.
Bird Whistle - A shrill whistle used to communicate with Tsumemaru over long distances.
Notebook - A notebook with grid paper for drawing scaled maps. Tsumemaru is trained to recognize accurate drawings as real terrain, and it can be used to direct him to specific locations.
Scimitar - The weapon of choice for his Nageru Kaze-ryu (Flowing Wind Style) fighting. His swordsmanship focuses on a rhythmic cycle between offense and defense. The style seeks to bait the enemy into an attack, turn their strikes, and then counter when there’s an opening. It alternates between periods of tight defense and flurries of attacks.
Standard Ninja Gear - Shurikens, Kunai, Explosive tags. All the good stuff no ninja would leave home without.
Clothing - Ryozan tends to dress lightly, wearing a thin vest over a light shirt. Upon becoming a chuunin, he has reluctantly donned the Sand Village's combat vest, though he wishes he didn't have to. His pants are light and baggy and he uses a thin scarf to protect himself from the desert sun.
Personal Items - Aside from his wallet, Ryozan tends not to carry anything on him he feels is extraneous. In his room, though, he keeps a feather representing his mother and two lost siblings.
Chakra Nature - Wind
Kekkei Genkai - Takame (Hawk Eye) - A mystic eye technique that heighten's Ryozan's vision. When activated, he can read a newspaper from a hundred yards away. When he links his chakra with Tsumemaru, he can experience the world through his falcon. While in this state, he can also directly control Tsumemaru, but his own body becomes inactive. Ryozan still detect major disturbances in his body, like being punched, or falling over, and can end the technique at will.
Taka Bunshin no Jutsu (Hawk Clone Technique) Data: Classification - Ninjutsu Nature - N/A Class - Supplementary Range - 50 ft. Hand Seals - Dragon, Monkey, Rat, Bird Effect - Ryozan pours his chakra into Tsumemaru and create up to a dozen clones of his falcon. The clones behave like shadow clones. Type - Ninjutsu Fuuton: Takaha no Jutsu (Wind Release: Hawk Blade Technique) Data: Classification - Ninjutsu Nature - Wind Class - Offensive Range - 50 ft. Hand Seals - Monkey, Ox, Snake, Bird Effect - Ryozan pours wind element chakra into Tsumemaru, creating a razor-sharp aura of wind around the falcon. Tsumemaru flies forward at high speeds, slicing his enemy. This technique must be used in moderation, as it is very strenuous for Tsumemaru. This technique can be used on Hawk clones, but the vanish after one attack, regardless of whether it hits. Type - Chakra Flow Fuuton: Kazeho no Jutsu (Wind Release: Gale Step Technique) Data: Classification - Nintaijutsu Nature - Wind Class - Supplementary Range - Self Hand Seals - Bird Effect - Ryozan channels wind chakra to his feet, giving him sudden bursts of speed. Can be used for prolonged sprinting, but doing so is very draining. Type - Chakra Flow Fuuton: Hakai-Teki Tatsumaki no Jutsu (Wind Release: Destructive Tornado Technique) Data: Classification - Ninjutsu Nature - Wind Class - Offensive Range - 100ft. Hand Seals - Bird, Ox, Snake, Dragon, Hare, Bird Effect - Ryozan’s most taxing technique. He uses wind chakra to create a violent tornado. Its destructive power is directly related to how much chakra he pours into the attack. Due to the amount of chakra required, Ryozan tends to use this technique as a last resort. Type - Ninjutsu IN DEVELOPMENT - Fuuton: Kyoumei Kazeha no Jutsu (Wind Release: Resonating Wind Blade Technique) Data: Classification - Ninjutsu Nature - Wind Class - Offensive Range - Touch Hand Seals - Bird Effect - Ryozan channels wind chakra into his blade, causing it to let out a shrill ring. He can release the chakra as a powerful blast of wind, but Ryozan regards that as a useless technique. Ryozan is developing the true form of this technique: It's true power is revealed when he cuts an opponent with the resonating blade. He pours the wind chakra into his opponent, and then the elemental chakra violently bursts forth from their body, causing severe lacerations. It can burst forth with enough force to tear through armor as well. Or, at least that's Ryozan's vision of the technique. Type - Chakra Flow Tsume-ken (The Talon Fist) Data: Classification - Nintaijutsu Nature - N/A Class - Offensive Range - Touch Hand Seals - N/A Effect - A hand to hand style that mimic’s a bird’s talons. By channeling chakra into his hands, Ryozan gains destructive power in his strikes, and incredible grip strength. The hallmark of this style is catching the enemy’s blows and damaging them as they strike you. Type - Chakra Flow
@Allycat If you're Ryozan you can pet Tsumemaru. Otherwise, he doesn't like you. Haha. But, what if you're a boy who knows the sexy jutsu? Can you pet Haku then?
I've reworked Ryozan's jutsus. The Hawk Eye and Soul link were combined into one Kekkei Genkai. The Hawk Map technique was discarded, and instead I added a notebook designed for map drawing into his ninja tools. His Flowing Wind Style has been taken off of his jutsu list and simply added as a description of how he fights with a sword. The Resonating Wind Blade has been downgraded to a technique that Ryozan is currently trying to develop, so he won't be able to use it just yet. This leaves him with 5 jutsus and one WIP Jutsu. If these changes are acceptable, I'll put him in the character tab.
