Eli nodded after a second of hesitation. He had made a mistake, assuming that Finn could read and write. But there was nothing wrong with that. Being illiterate wasn't uncommon where he lived. He had met plenty of good holy people who couldn't read a lick of English. It was rather unfortunate. They were all hard-working but circumstances didn't allow them to afford an education. He, himself didn't know how to read and write until he finally accepted God in his early pre-teens. Only then did the want of learning took over him like a raging fire.

Since then, Eli was captivated by the Lord's words. Writing was a way to spread the word. Creating inspiring sermons were important. As a humble servant of God, he was to encourage people around him to praise the Lord. Ever since he had listened to a priest's inspiring sermon in Boston, Eli aimed to be just like that. A passionate and holy man.

He wasn't too worried about his skills. He had helped his father teach some of the followers. How hard could it be? He only needed some paper, pencil, patience, and blessings. "That's fine," he said, the faint bubbles of excitement rising within him. "I can teach you if you're willing." Eli shifted in his seat a little, glancing at Finn. But would this man even want to have daily English classes on top of Bible studies? He felt that excitement fade away in uncertainty. "You should try and learn," he added in a tone he would usually have dealing with a child. "It'll do you good in the long run."
T-t-t-triple kill

Emma Byrnes excitedly buzzed in her seat as her English teacher began to tell the details of the project. She quickly filled out the form and literally stuffed the form into the teacher's hands before running back to her seat. Everything about this place was unfamiliar. After all, she was the 'new kid in town'. She wasn't deterred, however. Emma would make friends soon enough, and this project would make it easier for her to converse with others.

So she started jabbering to a quiet girl next to her, her face bright and lips stretched into a broad groan.

[NO FRESHMENS? LOSERS. EMBRACE THE FRESH MEAT.]
G'day mates! It's the third day of school, hooray! Aren't you all excited to be students? Learning is so fun and important. However, it has come to my attention that students do need to have time to socialize. Yay!

Anyways, the rules and regulations of the project are simple: you are to stay in contact with your partner throughout the entire year and log your conversations in a journal. At the very end of the year, your journal and a final feedback sheet will be submitted as your final grade for the entire year.

Ahem! Please pay attention to this: A student will receive a zero if he or she does not stay in contact with his or her partner or even worse -- if said student or their partner break the rule of anonymity. Students are required to use a screen name and fake alias when talking to their partner that must be used at all times. This means that you can be paired with your brother, your best friend, your girlfriend or your worst enemy without even knowing about it -- the possibilities are endless! And so are the potential romances, drama and so on.

This project is intended to be used as therapeutic use, with hopes of self-discovery and possible inspiration!

Enjoy!

Cut.

In every English class going on in Wellbridge high-school right now, students are being handed a form sheet. The English teachers happily drone on about the positive effects this project is bound to have. Some of you are probably happy, some of you are not. There's not much the students can say about it though. After all, you are just kids. The teachers remind their students that the first assignment is to be completed over the weekend: E-mail your partner over the weekend and start your journal. With that, the teachers patiently wait for the students to complete the form and turn it in so they can start pairing people up.

The Project

After a group of social-oriented scientists ran a test trial using college students, a new method intended for counseling, relieving stress and dealing with depression came about. Of course, whether anyone actually cares to believe that or not, it's the story that they gave to the school board that caused the counselors from your high-school to ragtag forces with the English department to create a new project that is being slapped down onto your desk on the third day of school.

This project -- "Dear Anonymous" -- is exactly what it sounds like: you will be sending and receiving letters anonymously. Well, okay, not letters, but e-mails and IMs. And this "anonymous" person is someone from your school who is chosen at random: gender, age and class aren't taken into account: anyone who is in a English class will receive this assignment.

The rules and regulations of the project are simple: you are to stay in contact with your partner throughout the entire year and log your conversations in a journal. At the very end of the year, your journal and a final feedback sheet will be submitted as your final grade for the entire year. A student will receive a zero if he or she does not stay in contact with his or her partner or even worse -- if said student or their partner break the rule of anonymity. Students are required to use a screen name and fake alias when talking to their partner that must be used at all times. This means that you can be paired with your brother, your best friend, your girlfriend or your worst enemy without even knowing about it -- the possibilities are endless! And so are the potential romances, drama and so on.

The project is intended to be used as therapeutic use, with hopes of self-discovery and possible inspiration! Of course, that could easily be a bucket of trash that your English teacher tries to sell to you, but you never know what might happen. . .

Out Of Character Information

  • The Roleplay will begin on a Friday, which is the third day of school.
  • The first assignment will to be e-mail your partner over the weekend and start your journal.
  • The setting will be a small town where everyone knows each other. Said town is named Wellbridge. It's fictional.
  • Spoilers, it's in Maine. Because it's coastal, it's cold and I'm sick of horror cliches only happening in Maine.
  • If you have any questions, recommendations or suggestions, just PM me or leave it here in the thread.

Rules

  • All regular site rules apply, obviously.
  • Hugs, kisses, all of that is permitted. Anything past that stage is "fade to black" or taken to PMs.
  • Absolutely no meta-gaming, power-playing or godmodding is permitted. I will call you out on it if it happens.
  • No OOC drama is permitted. First one to start, first one to get kicked out. No warnings.
  • Do not force romance onto another player or their character.
  • There won't be a posting order, unless there's excessive speed-posting. Don't make me create an order, pls.
  • Third person, past tense, A+ grammar and spelling, a paragraph at least. Text speak is allowed in IMs and e-mails.
  • Roleplaying is a hobby, not a job. Have fun and if it is stressing you out, take a break or don't be ashamed to drop out.

Character Sheet

On the third day of school, after you learn of the project's existence, you are given a simple sheet by your English teacher that you are required to fill out. Apparently, they're going to keep it in a folder for the entire year and give it back to you at the end to submit with your final project. Whether or not you take it seriously, well, that's up to you.

Ye, so moving to another thread due to GM/player inactivity. New thread should be up shortly! I'll be holding off new applications until everyone who still wishes to join from this thread posts their CSes in the CS tab. Sorry for all this confusion and stuff but we'll be heading off full-steam in the new thread!
