Personality: Artemis gives off the vibe of someone who's timid or shy. This isn't quite true, but what is a fact is that he's not usually the one to start the conversation at the dinner table. He'd much rather listen and absorb, collecting and calculating information about those around him. He gives off a calm exterior, but in reality, there's a hot-headed, angry young man somewhere in there, it's just buried. Artemis tends to hide his true emotions, masking a scheming, sometimes devious mind. His morals are somewhat muddled. He does try to be a nice person and a good friend, but places ambitions or anger over kindness. He's an opportunist and uses whatever advantages he has to get ahead. And another thing: he doesn't take very kindly to insults and can sometimes be ruthless to his enemies--though not to their face; he'll plan out an elaborate retaliation that they won't see coming. With that said, he's not a particularly competitive person, instead believing that each should keep to their own, and it's every man for himself. You don't mess with me, I don't mess with you. In many ways, Artemis can also be awkward. Raised to be poised, proper, and polite, he's awkwardly mannered, which can unintentionally lead him to look silly. Yet at the same time, he can be condescending of those who aren't as poised as one should be, leading to confusion as to why they are laughing at him.

History: Artemis was born to an excessively wealthy family. He lived on an estate, had servants, rode horses, ate good food. He could have lived his days with money and comfort, but unfortunately for him, Artemis displayed certain magical tendencies. In his childhood, he experienced occasional bouts of accidental magic. He, of course, had no idea what was going on, and his parents saw him as a problem child, acting up and getting into mischief, certainly not the proper boy they wanted. So, Artemis was carted off to an all-boy's military school at a young age. Now and then, these magical outbursts occurred. His teachers mistrusted and punished him, and he was the weird kid among his classmates, not really growing close with any of the other boys. He was miserable, that is, until an owl dropped a letter through his window.
Coming into Hogwarts, Artemis looked forward to his new life. The mistrust between him and his parents only grew, but he found excitement at the prospect of learning magic. However, life among his classmates was not that different. He was sorted into Slytherin, only to find that the house idealized pure-blooded witches and wizards over the others. Being ostracized and called a "Mudblood" was a common occurrence. Most of his housemates were pure-bloods, many of them pompous and privileged children like him, but of a different breed.
