Gearing up to post in a lil' bit.
@Emma: I would think so, but you should ask the GM in the OOC about it.
Sweet! Can't wait to start.

APPEARANCE

PERSONALITY

Odell is an amiable, intellectual fellow of an extroverted disposition, and he, a competitive person, loves to impress other people or have their attention using his speaking ability, candor, and natural charms. He relies on his stellar intuition in decision-making, and it's that acuity that allows Odell to make good, level-headed judgments, especially in social situations and critical thought. His actions are spontaneous and passionate, and he could hardly be dubbed inactive in his sanguine disposition. He tries to put himself at the helm of groups and often finds himself in a leadership position to his hyperactive delight. Odell's opinions are surprisingly firm and developed for someone as wild as he, and his rugged independence leads him to more uncommon but sensible viewpoints. However, damaging his self-esteem and breaking his heart is fairly easy with his level of sensitivity. If he could assign himself a personality type, he would say he was an ENFP.

BACKGROUND

There's something fresh about a change in scenery to a youth consumed by wanderlust. Born in some heartland suburb in the South, Odell Dunkirk found himself in Hallesdale for college, with a thirst for adventure burning on his chest and a high of independence romping in his mind. Before Dunkirk abandoned the Great Plains for a place to breathe, he had lived an almost mundane existence in Texas, the only home he'd ever known where he laid his roots. He was born, naturally, to magically empowered parents, a white father who descended from Evangeline Dunkirk, a more notable witch who died in the Salem witch trials, and a second-generation Japanese mother who came from a line of Eastern witches and wizards.

Like many parents of millennials, Odell's divorced when he was only a boy in elementary school who had nary a clue of what went on around him, and they alternated in his care and reared him to be a generally docile child. It was his hostile milieu that shattered his spirits and his innocence. Odell put himself to blame for the bad things that happened to him, and the conservative environment in which he lived tormented his soul with identity crises and adolescent angst. Two main events ultimately shaped him, and they were his suicide attempt in middle school and his self-realization as a wizard in high school. After that, Odell opened up more to others. He became open about his sexuality at school, he became open about his opinions with people, and he, for the first time in ages, could recall palpable emotion.

Each positive development has its downsides, as all know, and things fall apart. Though Odell could encounter heightened felicity, he would also come to terms with depression and anger. Outspokenness and obstinance are always met in kind, and the shedding of repression and oppression finds itself a new predicament in scarcity. Loves, for Odell, were few and far between, and each more heartbreaking than the last. He came increasingly into conflict with his parents and their views, and as many young people do, Odell became disillusioned with the complacency and confinement of small towns. His taste for the sciences and his love for life's experiences led him to Hallesdale, and there, his journey began.

@Aspen Wren: Ah, I see. So following that line of thought, how will they cope with that lack of power? Will characters be expected to do without them for good, or do you have other plans for them?
@Mad Scarlet: So what would constitute a newbie? Is there a specific age?

Oh, I see, so for all intents and purposes, we classify them as monsters of sorts. I'm just wondering whether they are "human" (i.e. they have a human likeness without really being human), could be "[insert species here]," or take on some different appearance, like that of a monster. What say you, O wise GM?
I have an idea for a witch and an elf's child, but I had a question stuck on my mind. Would it be possible to have a character who, along with your typical hoodoo (the stuff that's common among the witches), has Energy magic? I was thinking about using it as a mechanic for character development in the case of a character who needs to learn self-discipline and self-control. If such a rare case were feasible, what sort of implications would the character run into, and what sort of things could the character become capable of?
What are the rules governing magic? For example, if someone created some kind of elf or fairy, what limits would exist for the magic they could perform? Are non-human (or human) witches, wizards, warlocks, and their ilk available for this roleplay?
I don't know about the others, but I'd be interested.
I'm still interested.
