Abilities and Powers: - For all intent and purpose, Kaz is a tank. He is a deadly fighter is close-quarter combat, pours exp in a couple of tanky melee classes, has an enormous health pool, high block chance and possesses an impressive array of crowd control skills. The only problem is his reckless play style that contributes little to the group, asides from maybe a huge target for enemies to fire at. While most tanks embrace a defensive tactic, drawing in enemies and taking the brunt of their attacks, Kaz would instead charge face-first into the enemies’ ranks, hacking away to his heart content while paying little mind to his ally’s condition. Hell, he barely even notices his own health, which is why he invests in many self-heals and condition-cleanses through the Reaper and Berserker class. While those did allow him to solo a couple of bosses, albeit very slowly and ineffeciently, they failled when it comes to PvP. His self-heals wouldn’t be able to keep up with the superior dps of player characters, so he embraces more risky tactics: going all out and attempting to kill the opponent before he expires, or taking the enemy with him.
Active and Passive Abilities - Grasping Shadow: A Reaper spell, when casted will summon spectral claws from your own shadow to spread out and drag enemies toward you. Grant life force depends on the number of enemies.
- Bloody Feast: A Reaper spell, allowing the caster to reach out to dying or weakened enemies around and forcefully rip out their life force. Grant a moderate amount of life force.
- Death’s Embrace: A Reaper spell, when casted will cloak the caster in a shroud of life force, effectively shielding the caster from any type of physical attacks, as the shroud will absorb all damage. Can be sustained until the stored life force runs out. Also, while remaining in shroud, the caster’s health will slowly be restored.
- Slice and Dice: A Flayer spell, magically sharpen any blade the caster is holding. Also capable of increasing the reach of the weapon significantly, by forming a type of magical blade around the original blade.
- Dearly Departed: A Reaper spell, by imparting a small amount of life force into the fallen corpses around the caster then denote, creating a deadly AOE explosion around the caster. But since the caster isn’t immune to the effects of the explosion, it is recommended to use alongside with Death’s Embrace. Consume a large amount of life force.
- Unholy Fervor: A Reaper spell, expending life force to heal the caster.
- Scavenger’s March: A Reaper spell, summoning a flock of ravens at the caster’s beck and call. The caster can also reach to each individual and share their senses, however only one at a time. Aside from that, the ravens themselves are quite useless in combat.
- ‘Face me’: A Berserker shout skill, forcing the affected around them to focus their attacks on the user.
- ‘Flee’: A Berserker shout skill, instilling a sense of dread and impending doom into the enemies, forcing them to either run or stand frozen in fear.
- ‘Shake it off’: A Berserker shout skill, allowing the user to ignore any wounds or effects on their person and returning to their full strength for a short period of time.
- ‘Oblivion awaits’: A Berserker shout skill, revealing weakened or dying enemies to the user and giving the user bonus damage against them.
- ‘Futile’: A Berserker shout skill, granting the user immunity to any crowd control effects for a brief period.
- Primal Rage: A Berserker skill, sending the user into a state of bloodlust. In this state, the user will become stronger, faster and almost impervious to pain or fear. However, the precision of your attacks will decrease significantly.
- Boiling Blood: A Berserker skill, sacrificing a small amount of the user’s own health to provoke several enemies in close proximity around into a stage of uncontrollable fury and recklessly charge at the user head-on. The skill targets either PHY.DEF and MAG.DEF, using the weaker stat as modifier. The weaker the stat, the longer the duration and more effective the skill gets.
- Dancing Darkness: A Reaper skill, turning the user into a windwhirl of shadow and blades.
- Relentless Pursuit: A Reaper skill, allowing the user to charge forward with incredible force, demolishing everything unfortunate enough to get in the way.
- Weight Of Living: A Reaper skill. By slamming their weapon against the ground with great force, the user can create shockwaves to push enemies back and crush those standing too close.
- Devastating Aura: A Berserker skill. When using Primal Rage, the user will get the option to activate this skill at the cost of health. Once activated, the user will be surrounded by an aura of bloodlust so powerful that it causes damage to enemies and allies standing in the user’s melee range.
Bonus Abilities:
- Cheat Death: A Revenant passive. Revenants are often considered pseudo undead, as they are demonic spirits that inhabit a living body, holy spells don’t affect them as they do real undead. However, spells that have no effects on undead will still affect them normally.
- Tainted Blood: A Revenant passive, granting increased strength and stamina. Also, as a revenant’s blood is pitch black and quite thick, they are immune to BLEED effect and poisons affect them slower.
- Rigor Mortis: A Revenant passive. While still technically alive, revenants suffer a penalty to their AGITLITY, as their bodies aren’t really their own. However, they gain bonus PHY. DEF thanks to the hardened muscles.
- Foot In The Grave: A Revenant racial skill, activates everytime the user receives a fatal blow. The user will then remain standing, but must kill at least one enemy in thirty seconds to stay alive. If successful triggered, the user will be restored a moderate amount of health.
Main Equipment: - Hag’s Knucklebone: DD’s trusty gauntlet which he wears on his right arm, an item unique to the Reaper class, grants the wearer the ability to absorb life force through it. It can also extend at will to grasp enemies or objects from afar. Also doubles as a shield thanks to the tough material. A Legendary class item.
- GG: A long sword of simple design, also usable only by the Reaper class. While it doesn’t boast the elaborated appearance of other divine swords, but its power is by no means lacking. It has the standard life force leech that allows the user to gain life force by successfully hitting the enemies. Furthermore, it gives the user the skill called “Necrotic Slash”, which basically a single shockwave that can negate magic and damage MP. A divine item.
- Tormented Soul: The mask given to players when they successfully unlocking the Revenant race. Aside from cool looking (debatable), the mask will grant wearers night vision and face protection. Also it will tell other users that you have managed to die so many times the game took pity and decided to give you something. A relic item.
- Wyrmskin Pail: A bucket-shaped leather bag made from various types of skin, in spite of its name. While it has infinite storage space, it can only hold whatever you can fit in there. Since it’s roughly the size of your everyday bucket, good luck squeezing a set of armor in there. A relic item.
- The Shadowrunner: A stylish (also very debatable) pair of black leather boots that increase the wearer’s running speed and reduce fall damage. A relic item.
- Bloody Death: A set of light leather armor, usually worn by mages. Its sole ability is self-repairing. Also quite stylish.
Background: A private person and veteran internet surfer, Kaz rarely let slip any information about his life in the real world. To only a selected few, he told them his name was Sander, and he was just a bored guy working in HR. Any more questions about his personal details were often answered with either nonchalant shrugs or bad pick-up lines. Ever since the launch of the game, Kaz had been around, clawing his way to the top. In his early days, his strategy was rather safe. He stuck to the guides, played the meta and hung with all the cool kids. It was not really his preferred style, but of course, it paid off. He joined the ranks of end-gamers after a few years, clearing out the toughest dungeons on a daily basic with his guildmates. However, once he had reached the optimal strength of his chosen class, he wished to switch to another role, since the condition damage necromancer build he currently had was getting tiring to play. He began leveling the Reaper class, despite the protests of his fellow guildmates. They then seized many of his equipments from the vault, demoted him to the backup team of the guild and threatened to kick him out if he didn’t take up the Necromancer class again. This earned them his irk, so he retaliated, by flooding the vault with junk items and trolling the guild’s forum with multiple accounts. Eventually, of course, they kicked him, but Kaz didn’t really care anymore. He got tired of playing the ‘right’ way.
Afterward, his play style changed drastically. Kaz ran headlong into battles, met death halfway and generally just bringing hell down on any dungeon party unfortunate enough to invite him on the LFG chat. This strategy cost him of course; he wasted a fortune on reviving himself over and over again. But it wasn’t without reward: he eventually got the Revenant race, which only led to him embracing his high risk hight reward play style even more. Despite being a Heteromorphic player, Kaz didn’t really run into much discrimination though. Sure, people hated him, but that was more because he was a self-serving asshole who only cared for his own amusement than the fact that he used an undead race. Besides, at that point, he was already high-leveled and infamously suicidal, so no one in their right mind would go bother him. They did block him quite often on the LFG chat though, which resulted in him running dungeons solo most of the time and racking up quite a number of deaths, each more pathetic and spetacular than the last. But it also did earn him his signature weapon, the long sword ‘GG’, so he did consider all those time spent dying was worth it. Aside from charging to his death in dungeons, Kaz also spent his time completing achievements, collecting random junks and just generally getting into arguments with strangers on the Trade chat. The community over there was rather toxic, but he enjoyed it nonetheless, opting to fool around with trolls than joining another guild.
His first run-in with the Seekers of Fate was back when they were still a fairly new mercenary guild. He was up to his usual routine back then, sitting in a tavern near the starter zone and getting into a heated argurments about the importance of fuzzy footwear. One of his associates then made a random comment about a fight happening right outside, so out of curiousity, Kaz poked his head out and watched the commotion. It was one of those inccidents involving Heteromorphic players again, with a group of human bullies. Kaz only watched though, not interfering, despite his own race. In truth, he was no better them. Back when he was still with his old guild, they did this sort of thing all the time. Easy money, quick exp and a momentary illusion of gradeur. He understood the temptation. Beside, he also knew why most races disliked heteromorphic players so much. It was because their superior racial abilities. By using a heteromorphic race, it was almost like you was using easy mode. The elitist hated that sort of thing, while the low leveled made used of the heteromorphic folks’ steep learning curve and robbed them blind while they were still weak.
The leader of the Seekers showed up after a while though, and stopped the fight. He went back inside then, returning to his discussion. The day after that, she came back, accopanying the new players of her guild this time. And for the next few days, she did the same. Kaz was puzzled by this sort of actions. Most notable guilds didn’t recruit new players. They contributed little and were often more trouble than they were worth. So he approached Kirishima with questions, and upon hearing her answers, he found himself… pleasantly surprised. The Seekers were an idealistic bunch. The type of players he thought had long extincted in games like this. So he laughed a little. And he joined them.
He was fairly new to the guild, and given his less than respectable past, Kaz tolerated the distrust thrown his way. He still did his best to contribute to the guild, turning in all sort of materials and gold while doing guild missions diligently. It didn't make him pleasant company though, or stop him from skipping duties sometimes to go chatting in the taverns.
Trivia:
- Kaz is left-handed. Or at least, his avatar in YGGSDRASIL is.
- He does not have any NPC, but instead keeps a variety of expendable summons to assist him.
- He love telling stories. He love listening to them even more.
