Welp.

Skidding to a halt. Arusi caught her breath as the spectacle unfolded before her. That wasn't leaping. It was flying, and completely unfair to boot. It also meant that the map really was valuable.

Freaking 200,000 gold bounty Gorgei the Swift. From out of nowhere. Gone just as quick, She had no words for this. Dully, she turned and started the long walk back to her stand, barely registering that she was still carrying Rook.
Eresa did not bother herself with acknowledging Malte and Kadoodle's prattling or the offer of cookies. Really. Did she look like she could enjoy one of the baked treats? No, golems don't eat. It was insulting to even ask and she felt the strong urge to backhand the fetid little creature. She resisted of course, but couldn't help the feeling of being saddled with the panicky goblin.

Following closely behind Mancer, she reached down and dipped a finger into the white slime. It was much like a slug's trail but far more viscous. As the excess dripped off her finger it lengthened, becoming more like a blade than a digit. The others followed suit.

"Indeed, it appears Mr. Ghurst guessed correctly. Split up and look for anyone or anything out of the ordinary."

---

Taking Kai's cue, Ghurst tailed the detective, unable to shake the uneasy feeling of being watched. He shook off the feeling. It would not bode well to be jumpy here. Instead he blamed the feeling on the the eyes of all the others around. Riad's comments on screaming weren't helping. But that's all it was, a feeling.

Holstering his rollvolver for the moment, Ghurst once again drew forth a bit of charcoal. He didn't trust the passages down here. It could too easily become a maze on them if they strayed too far from the path. Tracing a black arrow that would be invisible in the gloom without light, he hurried to catch up, arriving just in time to see Edwin lob the stone.
Another busy weekend with too little sleep done. I'll have something up as soon as I can stop yawning.
"He's going to die..." Arusi deadpanned as she passed the guards, but still wasn't fast enough to outpace the thief or the bard.

That was okay though. It was all part of the plan. Just box the thief in once he'd made it to the canyon. Unless the thief could fly, that was where they'd get him.

"It's fine," she huffed, "When I give the signal I want you to go right and your friend to go left..."

THE STARE. Holy hell these hand people were creepy. It didn't help that he just tumbled out of her grip and started using his head as a means of locomotion. Yup, definitely creepy.
Awww... :(
Mr. Ghurst entered the tunnel behind the elf and her guardian. Though he would have loved to take point, Riad and Aron saw fit to rush ahead in their madness. Ghurst could have warned them to touch nothing, but the advice probably would have fallen on deaf ears. With Edwin's talk of modifying the communicators and Marianne and Richards's nonsense, he had to wonder if any besides Kai, Ash, and himself were taking this seriously. Instead he forced his focus on their surroundings. The evidence of what head befallen the other team was here, he just had to notice it or its absence.

In the meantime Ghusrt took the opportunity to light one of their lanterns and draw his rollvolver. The shadows instantly sharped as they were pushed back and the spare bottles of oil tied to his belt clinked softly with the motion. It reminded him of another annoyance. They hadn't had the time to procure the types of explosives he'd wanted. They had some, but Ghurst had his doubts that he could rig them properly in an emergency. All he could do was hope that Ash, who seemed to possess some sort of fire magic, could possibly turn it to some explosive ends if the need arose.

I couldn't resist.
Irish... Wha... What have you done?
Eresa felt it, a rush of elation, as Mancer looked back to her to confirm their readiness. It was deference. Pure sweet deference and she loved it. That the skeletal man had immediately fallen into that mentality was even better. Once this was over she would simply have to find a way to keep him in her services. What a jewel of a... man she supposed.

"No, no, as you were," she spoke with a ready smile as she simply hopped across the canal and placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder, "I'm certain that we're all more than ready to leave this fetid pit."

The climb was thankfully short. Were she not constrained by her dress or her heels, it would have taken her no time at all, but that would be unseemly. The view that greeted her was, as advertised, a slum.

Dwarves of all ages, though definitely weighted towards the elderly, milled about. Their eyes were on the strangers resting somewhere between notice and vacancy. One thing was uniform, however, here was no hope to be found here. None at all. And down this oppressive alleyway, at its terminus, rested the plain form of the Depth Plumbers' offices.
