Lucio found himself very confused as the scantily clad girl began talking. Nobility? It seemed that the girl had a very sheltered life and didn't know much about bards or bartenders or any of that stuff. She leaned in close, whispering in his ear about protecting him from the bartender. It really was sweet, but he didn't need protecting. Not when he knew how to handle the situation. "I'm afraid you have it wrong milady." He said, gently correcting her. "I'm not nobility at all, just a simple traveler. Anybody can learn music, few just choose to follow that path. In an inn or tavern like this one, the bartender is like the king. His word is absolute." He wasn't trying to get out of playing, he just didn't want to sleep outside tonight.
But the look on her face was so hopeful and begging. Like a hungry puppy wanting scraps from dinner. A small sigh escaped his lips. "I will be right back." He said, getting up from the table. He went over to the bartender and leaned against the counter. "I know you already said you didn't want me playing music tonight. But what if I didn't want a room or meal out of it?" He began with.
The bartender laughed. "A bard who doesn't want anything out of playing? Yeah right."
"I'm serious." Lucio said, reaching into his bag and taking out a coin purse. "I have plenty of money to pay for a room if we stay."
The coin purse seemed to change the bartender's mind. As long as he was getting money out of it, why not? The man just nodded and returned to his work. Lucio took it as the man allowing him to play something. So he gave the man a nod and went back over to his seat. Giving the scantily clad Elf girl a smile, he retrieved his harp from his bag. "It seems the man had a change of heart. So I do get to play something after all."
Lucio decided on playing one of his favorite songs. It didn't have words, it was just harp, but the girl had asked for music and not singing. He took a deep breath and let his fingers flow over the strings of the harp, playing the song with practiced ease and no mistakes. Of course he drew the attention of pretty much everyone in the bar when he played. Even the bartender stopped what he was doing and listened, suddenly feeling glad that he let the half-elf play. After he was finished, Lucio stood and took a bow, feeling pretty good about his performance.
((This is the song he played by the way.
