@candlelitcraft, I could. I was actually thinking of assigning "roles" like "new Avatar", "Older mentor", "love interest", "chi blocker" and "descendant of older character" (list not final) along with "bending teacher" for each of the elements. That way we'd have great freedom to design the character, but the GM can plan "episodes" around it.

The basic idea I had:

Avatar Korra changed the world. Under her watch, freedom flourished, the world prospered, and people grew closer. As with all things, the time of Avatar Korra on this world ended. And so the Earth Federation, under their Council of States and Prime Governor Wu, sent the Dai Li and White Lotus to comb their towns and villages for the next Avatar to lead them into the new world.

However, the deadline came and went with the new Avatar unrevealed. Tensions simmer across the world, whispers building that the Avatar's work was done, or that they'd left the world for another 100 years. Master Jinora of the Air Nomads withdrew, searching the spirit world for clues. The Fire Nation began a quiet search within their borders, the treacheries of the Dan Li and Earth Empire still strong in their minds. The people began to worry, feeling without the Avatar, another threat may soon rise...

Yet in the depths of the Si-Wong Desert, a girl begins to dream of the outside world...

And thus begins the Legend of Rosai.

@AllHollowsEve, so while the possibility of a Dark Avatar is is open, I think that'd be further into the future than what we can plan, and that the Avatar would be most likely influenced by dual spirits. For Rosai's "Vaatu" state (name's easier than "avatar after korra"), imagine Aang's uncontrolled Avatar State in the early episodes, while the "Raava" state would be more like the fully-realised Avatar state in LoK.

Equivalent power, but one has massive control over one element and very little restraint, and the other would be all four elements in perfect control. Neither would override the Avatar's base personality, and they may even be able to choose which state to go into. There's also that whole aspect of the eyes glowing red (Vaatu) and white (Raava) respectively.

Our theoretical sandbending avatar would be powerless if caught in the middle of the ocean in Vaatu mode, as there's no, or very little, earth to bend, even with the extreme power. It's basically a trade off. Power for control.

Of course, I could theorise all day. Until we start plotting, none of this could come up. What do people actually want to play?
- New Team Avatar?
- White Lotus Guardians?
- Ordinary Joes awaiting the Avatar?

Raava was pulled out of Vaatu, it would be logical that Vaatu would be reborn inside Raava/the Avatar.

Not to any great degree or power, just so that there's a new taint on the Avatar that wasn't there before.

@Gisk, no. It was my proposal on page 1. Rosai, the sandbender. Some other fans have come up with a sandbender to follow Korra as the Avatar, but I came up with the name and idea on my own. It's not canon.

Personally, I'd love to have a plotline about a 'weak' Avatar, who has to use finesse and skill where Korra did brute force. However, there would be two Avatar states: the White light of Raava where all elements could be controlled, and the berserker red of Vaatu, where massive power is granted in the Avatar's native element. This also makes the Avatar their own worse enemy, where order and chaos are both now embodied in the Avatar.

Zeke protested, "I'm not a sheep. I'm a Zeke!" but Viola had already disappeared upstairs. He waited for a little while, holding his camera, looking around at the crowd, then heading for the same stairs. It was too busy down here. Viola was still upstairs and he could catch up with her. Then they could go find something else to do. Or somewhere less full of people taller than him. He climbed halfway up the stairs before she shouted to him, and he turned around. She'd gone past him!

"Let's go! Let's go!" He laughed, taking her hand and pulling her out into the gardens. He stopped in a manicured lawn and turned around, hmming. "I was indoors, but there's lots of people there, and maybe we can go look at the forest, or but they also said there was a town..." Where would there be good pictures? A quiet tune interrupted his thought, and he looked at Viola with a tilted head. Or more accurately, at her instrument. "We need a quiet place, with interesting light and pretty things," he said, slowly spinning in place again. "Um..." He let his camera dangle from the strap again. "You decide, Viola!" He said, taking her hands in his.

Anyway, so are we going with the "second incarnation of the second avatar"? There are spoilers as to why you can refer to Korra's successor as that, but are we all happy with modern-ish Avatar, "Rosai, the barbarian Avatar", as she's a sandbender from the middle of the desert and has to tackle a modern world.
