Turning around the next corner brought Emilia onto the lively street on which the school grounds bordered in some distance. Cars drove by and you could even hear the noise of the market place close by. Students were already all over the place, heading in the same direction as her and Emilia smiled and greeted here and there, keeping an eye out for her childhood friends. She was just about to enter the school's yard when someone glomped onto her from behind, giggling and smooching a wet kiss onto her cheek. "Good Morning, Ems!" a lively female voice exclaimed.
She turned around, smiling brightly and hugging one of her best friends tightly. "Good Morning, Kat." she replied happily, wiping her cheek with a grimace, not expecting the big, heavy hand landing on her head to ruffle her hair the next second. She gasped, then turned around to glare at the huge, blonde guy grinning at her. "Stop messing up my hair so early in the morning, Daniel!" she exclaimed, reaching up to knock his hand away and run her hands through her hair to get rid of the knots and set her bangs right again. "Or, even better, stop that alltogether." she grumbled, turning back to Kat when he only laughed, who reached out to tug some strands of her hair back into place with a smug expression on her face. Emilia raised an eyebrow at her. "Something funny?" she asked, already knowing the answer, cause that was how most of their mornings had been going ever since the three had found each other in kindergarten. Her friend tried to school her face into a serious expression, something she did really bad and it never seemed to fit her right, even when she was earnest about it. "Nothing at all." she answered, and then, as if inspired by Emilias situation, ran a hand through her own hair, long dark-brown and straight, falling over her shoulders and down to her hips.
Together the three of them headed into the schoolyard, Kat holding onto her hand as if fearing she would lose her smaller friend if she let go of her even for a second, like a little child. A gesture that occasionally still annoyed Emilia, for, while she certainly was a little smaller than the average girl her age, she had not gotten lost anywhere anymore for years now.
Emilias eyes took in the people around her as they walked, continuing to smile, wave and greet at whomever greeted her. Her eyes noticed an unfamiliar face, following the boy with a bycicle for a second before her friends turned her attention back to them. "..Ems? So, will you?" Kat asked with puppy dog eyes, while Daniel just snorted from Emilias other side. She looked up at him and caught him shaking his head to himself in amusement. She blinked before addressing her friend. "Need my homework again?" she asked, able to guess what it was Kat was asking for. "Again... That sounds like I always do that... But yeah. I didn't have any time, you know?" she said, pouting slightly. Emilia laughed, imitating Daniel as she shook her head with a grin. "I'll let you have a look once we're inside, okay?" As thanks she received another smooch onto her cheek and the next second Kitty was pulling her along to get her inside so that she'd have plenty of time to copy her notes.
As they climbed the stairs towards the doors, Emilia turned to look at Daniel, who had stopped following them at the bottom of the stairs and was throwing her a smile. "I'll see you inside." he said and she nodded at him, giving him a small wave. He then turned to join his swimming-club friends by one of the trees. To prevent herself from stumbling into something or someone, Emilia turned back around, to make sure Kat wouldn't run around in that carefree way of hers, as they headed inside and towards the classroom.
