The Beast evidently did not like them hacking away at its legs. It swatted with its club, which descended swiftly. Raugar couldn't entirely avoid it in his heavy armour. He braced and tried to shield himself with his blade as it came crashing towards him. He felt the blow's impact through his whole body as it glanced off him, knocking him back, with him only just managing to keep his balance.
I can't take another hit like that he realised grimly as he felt his legs wobble from the trauma. It seemed a consensus to retreat had been reached. The others were falling back to the temple. Beside him, the cleric urged him to run, volunteering to stay behind and hold the cyclops at bay.
Flee, whilst others remain?.. Never! he thought, straightening himself up. He was still on his feet and that meant he was still in the fight. He was no coward, he was a knight! He came to Nurn to prove he had the heart of a conqueror. How could he turn and run whilst another continued to pit themselves against such a mighty foe? What meaning would his oaths have then? His pride wouldn't allow it. As long as another soul was brave enough to stand their ground, he could never turn his back!
"I won't let a stranger lay down their life for my sake, Lady. I won't leave anyone behind!"His legs recovered, and though it felt heavier than it had a moment ago, his sword burned with new resolve, and he brought it round in a great two handed sweep at the creatures leg.
