Kassarock's character makes me feel like such a noob at writing, I realize 'comparison is the theft of joy' but *wipes brow* let's hope I can measure up
Regardless, thank you Kassarock for your CS, it's given me a few ideas as to how to improve my own
Vendras is the son of Erdan and Lia Firahel, elven artisans who raised him with love and care. Their only child Vendras remembered loving to watch his father work the smithy, and his mother her arts as a remarkable seamstress. When he was around twenty years old his father came down with a sickness that wasted his body away slowly over the course of around thirty years before he finally died. No cure could seemingly be found, dissatisfied with this Vendras took up studies to learn how to help people, he took up medicine and studied magic. His mother was supportive of his efforts as were other members of his extended family. Eventually Vendras began formally learning magic, and soon became quite accomplished in spellcasting.
However, unbeknownst to his family and others at the institutions he was studying at, Vendras had begun making clandestine ventures into obtaining knowledge that was considered taboo. For in his magical studies he had found that his father had suffered from a curse of necromantic origins.
Had perhaps, his people not been so close minded, then perhaps his father would not have had to die. So Vendras became determined to find answers, to compile research and knowledge to save lives in the future, necromancy after all is not inherently good or evil and depends on the wielder. Some might disagree, but he is quick to point out to them that resurrection spells fall under the school of necromancy.
Eventually someone found out what he had been up to, though to this day he is unsure as to who outed him, or how, he was summarily dismissed from the school he was at, and the rest of his family excepting his mother refused to talk to him anymore.
Vendras has dedicated his life since then to his work, which is to compile all the information he can on necromancy and it's uses in saving lives. In this he has begun work on several tomes dedicated to this purpose, on the topics of necromancy, breaking curses, and medicine, these tomes are important and represent everything he has worked towards.
Here in the Deadsnow, and the Silver Marches, he has come seeking more knowledge to add towards this work of his, either from the libraries of Silverymoon or forgotten, dark and dangerous places. If he can also help people at the same time, so much the better.
Not to mention...if he can find clues as to who killed his father...
: Vendras is a very friendly and amiable person, albeit somewhat absentminded at times. Dedicated to the ideals of using knowledge, magic, and general kindness to bettering the lives of those around him, he is eager yet patient with his determination to do all of those things. As a result wherever he goes he finds himself helping treat illnesses, injuries, doing his best to spread knowledge in his willingness to teach others things.
Vendras generally speaking likes helping people out, avoiding resorting to violence as the first choice as a solution to problems, and finally of obtaining knowledge. He detests those who would destroy or reject information simply because it makes them uncomfortable, but he also despises those who gain information through unethical means(such as conducting magical experiments on unwilling subjects). Needless cruelty to others is something he also dislikes rather intensely, as well as just general bullying, abuse of or taking advantage of other people.
Despite his exile from his home, extended family and many other places that have discovered his interests, he remains optimistic in his efforts to obtain magical knowledge that could one day be used to prevent others from suffering the same fate as his father did.
Vendras wears a layer of chainmail under his robes, not enough for serious protection but enough to turn a blade or arrow from really messing him up.
Vendras also has voluminous, dark black mage robes that enfold his form quite comfortable, made from a nice and soft velvet like material, mildly enchanted to ensure the wearer remains both dry and at a comfortable temperature regardless of the ambient temperature around them(not accounting for extremes like say, magical ice, or fire).
If truly desperate he carries a dagger on his person, but if he is resorting to such a thing then he is likely in dire straits as it is.
Vendras has various things for adventuring with him, such as rope, travel rations, tools for exploring caves and dungeons, and general travel. He also carries prominently two notebooks, things for writing, and his tomes that he works on, the title to be determined.
This adventuring gear includes things such as his sleeping roll, a tent, waterskins, and other things designed for travel
Healing potions rest within his inventory, along with herbs and other things to make medicine from, along with bandages and other paraphernalia.
I will likely add more here as I think of it in time.
Vendras is a highly accomplished caster, and intelligent enough that even after his expulsion from the school he was attending that he has largely become a successful wizard regardless. He has some experience in dealing with dangerous situations and plumbing the depths of locations.
His primary value to a group however is his incredible breadth of skills in other areas of combat. Vendras carries many extremely useful abilities, such as how he speaks no less than seven languages, namely Common, Elvish, Dwarvish, Slyvan, Giantish, and Draconic. Thieves Cant is another one he has picked up, because of the need to obtain tomes and books that are not normally available.(Linguist feat for all of this)
Beyond this, he is also useful for his skills with conventional, mundane medicine, allowing healers to potentially preserve their spell casts for when it's needed. He is more than capable of setting bones, creating medicine for infection, illness and stitching up wounds.
A very talented cook that stems from his love of cooking and food, having been cooking for most of his entire life. Though the nature of what he can make on the trail is limited, he'll make the best damn soups, stews, and roasts you've ever had...or at least that's what some swear by.

So big question here, why would anyone come to Deadsnows? From what I've seen in terms of the wiki article, the resource that drew people there to begin with(gold) has dried up, yet it states post spell plague that the town and population have been revived
I'm not sure why it would have though, it seems like it's in the middle of nowhere and that there aren't any resources worth going for.
EDIT: I did not realize Silverymoon, Sundabar, or Mithril Hall were in Delzoun, now I get why Deadsnows isn't a total backwater, my bad :)
I'm thinking of playing my High Elf Wizard who specializes in the school of Necromancy(Chaotic Good) if that's okay with everyone. He'll be good for a support/utility role as his known spells focus primarily on such things, as well as good for helping keep the morale of a party up with his abilities for making camp and the like(prestidigitation for keeping things clean, his abilities at cooking, and other uses of magic).
