Nearly two hundred years. Two hundred years, stuck in a stasis pod. Conscious or not, it was Sam Alkin's worst nightmare. But when she stumbled out of the pod it was not as blissful as she had thought it would be. The air stung her throat, her body felt stiff and unused, and she had to manually opened her eyelids with her hands to get the process going. The cold metal of the stasis pod pressed against her flesh as she leaned against it, and gradually the discomfort encouraged her to push herself off and take a few baby steps away. For a few more minutes she stood uncertainly, blinking wildly at the spinning world before she finally came back to her senses and, with a renewed urge to find something of familiarity, made her way away from the stasis pods and towards people.

She was halfway through the doorway when she remembered the quiz, and with a large amount or trepidation Sam turned back. It wasn't a good sign that she'd forgotten about it, but she'd be damned if she ever made the trip back home, especially so soon. With that thought, she quickly reminded herself that this was her home now. She had to let go of the past, that was the whole point of coming here. To start again. She was pleased to realise that her motor functions were almost returning to normal, and reached the computer with a minimum amount of stumbling. When she was there, she logged on and completed the quiz slowly. The cheery ding of the computer reassured her, and she sighed in relief. No home trip for Sam, not today. 10 o'clock in the morning - good. Plenty of time to get sorted, and scout out the local area for a bit. For a second time, she made her way towards the others.

Though she generally tried to avoid too much interaction with other humanoids, she realised that she would have to communicate to see what was going on. She passed by people who were confused and dazed, searching for somebody who knew what they were doing. A strange blue form caught her eye by the hatch, and triggered a sense of recognition. Her memory was hazy and clouded, but after a minute or two of staring she remembered who it was. The immortal phoenix. Not only were they standing at an open hatch doing something, they had also been awake for the entire journey. She made her way over to the phoenix, and only paused for a second to gawp at the outside. There would be time for that later, and she would be getting used to the view. Hesitantly she coughed, then coughed louder to try to gain her attention.

When she thought she may have succeeded, Sam started talking. Her voice was unnervingly gruff and cracked from lack of use, and it took her several times to form the words she wanted to say. She couldn't help but feel embarrassed, but tried not to draw too much attention to her struggles. Damn, she should have done this before trying to talk to somebody. Finally Sam recovered, and looked up. "Hello... I've just woken up, but you've been awake for this whole time, right? Do you know what's going on. What we're supposed to be doing?" She hesitated and the shade of red that her face had already gone turned redder. She should have remembered all of this, but her memory was letting her down. Two hundred years was a long time. While waiting for a reply, she determined first to locate her animals, and then to explore the land outside; with them, or without. And to help out around the ship, naturally, although it wasn't her main priority.
Character Name
Sam Alkin
Age & Sex
32 - Female
Trade
Farmer
Species
Shapeshifter

Personality
To many who knew Sam Alkin on Erellon would use any of three words to describe her: Protective, unsociable, prickly. To many who have dealt with her shortly, they would use the latter two. She doesn't have much time for people who she doesn't know, and will often be gruff and short in her manner with them, often completely disregarding any polite small talk they try to strike up. However, towards the few friends that she does have, she is very friendly and loyal if not the most talkative. She will support any friend in need, but does not choose friends lightly and often takes a lot of time to truly get to know somebody and accept them as a friend. She is often most comfortable in her animal form, and prefers to be out in the wild instead of trapped within buildings.

Past History
Sam had a relatively normal upbringing. She was raised alongside four other siblings, three brothers and a sister. Their parents worked as trackers, and expected their children to continue on their work when they were able to. However it soon became clear that Sam and her brother Artur were not cut out for the job, often making mistakes and ruining days of hard toil. Their parents tried to help them, but soon realised that if they were to become successful in life then they would have to find another profession. By pulling some favours they were able to get both Artur and Sam an apprenticeship at a local farmers, and both found that they excelled at the work. When the farmer and his partner died, (as they had no children) Sam and Artur took over the farm. They worked the land together, and prospered on the farm for seven years. They were looking to take on their first set of apprentices when tragedy struck the family and a fire took the lives of their siblings and their mother. Although they had been adopted into another family, they had kept in contact and were still close with their original family. The loss struck both of them hard, and they went into mourning in their different ways. When Sam heard about the expedition back to Earth, she was thrilled. She could think of nothing better than to get away from the depression that had fallen over their life on Erellon, and she tried to persuade her brother to come with her too. He had different ways of coping though, and decided to stay behind and face his problems alongside his soon to be wife. Sam was torn between staying with Artur or leaving, but her brother recognised her conflict and persuaded her to go. Though she left him behind with a heavy heart, she resolved to make a new start. And where best, but on another planet?

Sorry for the crappy filler post. By the way, feel free to post even if there's only one post after your last one. With three people, unless we want to maintain a posting order, it would probably be better to just do it with no limits.
Kij felt the Illithid infiltrate her mind, and felt as he spoke through her. The sensation was... strange, like a numbness that spread throughout her mind. At first she tensed up and felt the two of them briefly jostle for control of body, but as she gave over she found it to be less difficult to let him talk through her. Trust the humans to overreact.

Morro slowly sank back down into the wood of her chair, and looked down at her now unappetising plate of food. It was long cold. The stillness of the room now concerned her, and she scanned the room for signs of her companions. Alarm bells rung at the back of her mind when she didn't catch sight of them. Where were her soldiers, and why were they taking so long? With difficulty, she cast her worries from her mind and turned back to the... problem at hand. The knight nodded in agreement, acknowledging the wise choice of question, then asked her own. "And why have they sent you. and only you, to help?"
Bump! Sorry for not getting my post up, I'll have something within the next couple of days hopefully. What's going on with the rest of you then?

@Aspen Wren I presume I can add it to the character tab then?
@dereken Oh no that's terrible! No pressure to get a post up, so long as something is up within the next week then all is well. Good luck with finals.
Bump. What's up, seems pretty quiet around here.
This sounds pretty interesting! I'd be up for joining.
Morro watched in horror as the Illithid took hold of the bartender and... The voice, the very nature of what was happening made her feel queasy. She fought to pay attention to what the monster was saying, but found it more than a little difficult. Finally she had had enough. With force, she stood and brought the edge her heavy gauntlet down onto the table. Metal struck wood, and then bounced apart again with a heavy crack. She didn't know what was making the bartender go more white, the atrocities that were happening to him, or the further damage to his property. When the Knight was sure she had the attention of all, she turned to the Necromancer. "Pull yourself together! You summon the dead to do your bidding, this is little worse." Morro didn't wait for his reply, but instead turned to the Illithid with almost palpable fury. "And you. You are on Three Nations land, and in violation of the law. Release the man, or I'll be forced to take action against you."

Though it disturbed her to see somebody used in such a way, she was more concerned at the thought of the monster invading her mind again. If it truly wanted to... 'help' on the mission, then they would have to find a way for it to communicate. She scanned the room for likely people, but none looked willing to help. The Knight sighed wearily. "Would anybody be willing to act as the voice for the... Illithid?" Her request was met by a wave of turned backs and shameful faces. None were brave enough, it seemed. The blur of motion caught the corner of her eye, and she watched as the lizard pulled herself up from the undead end of the tavern and stepped forwards.
"I volunteer."
Morro turned first to the lizard, then back to the Illithid with a shrug.
"Can you speak through her?"
So, this is the CS. If there are any problems just let me know... Of course. Oh, I didn't really mention her education as I presume that's just taken for granted. But eh, it's better than nothing right? Something to work from, or (hopefully) not. Anyway.
