USS Aurora - BridgeKatie listened intently as a message came in from the Illustrious. “Captain, our sister ship seems to have regained limited warp capability and it seems Commander Lannigan has some interesting news for us regarding their origin, in fact of all the ships present.”
“Don’t wait all day Lieutenant.”
“I believe their Captain Noelle would like to explain it in more details.”
“I’m not going to like it, am I?” He watched as she shook her head. With a sigh he rubbed his face both hands. It seemed that plain old fatigue was getting the better of him. Unlike Kirk, who seemed to be walking machine, able to keep going no matter what – he was somewhat more human, “Sorry, Katie.” He said apologetically. “Starting to feel it, as I am sure most of you are?” He didn’t wait for answers. “Okay, Lieutenant Frank, punch it.”
With a familiar lurch, and a pulling sensation they went into warp, albeit not for very long. Within seconds they slowed coming out just beyond the edge of the system. In front of them were many ships of unknown designs and configurations. He couldn’t help but stare in awe. So many first contacts were possible here that it befuddled the mind.
Katie then spoke again. “We’re getting a message.”
Sundered Echo said
“This is the Systems Commonwealth ship Valorous Intent to all vessels. Our sensors show that a number of you have taken damage - we are able to assist with repairs and provide medical aid.”
“Okay I want you to reply.” He closed his eyes briefly and took a deep breath, trying to garner up some internal reserves knowing full well that this was about to become an extremely long day. “This is Captain Peter Weston of the USS Aurora. We and I suspect most of you have been attacked by the Imperial ships more-or-less without provocation. When we intercepted some messages it appears they have gone through some form of Civil War vying for control of the Senate. So although we had no choice but to resist, it will now mean we will now all be hunted at least until this situation is resolved. So I would suggest no one goes back into the system. And perhaps we all agree further rendezvous coordinates as I would suspect they’ll track us down within a day or so – if not sooner.”
Rubbing his chin, could feel a day's worth of stubble. He wondered how people managed to grow beards without a terminal case of itchy chin.
Maybe he was oversensitive?"I would like to formally open communications in which to discuss how to resolve our situation, and what we should do from here on in." With that he gestured for the channel to be closed. All they could do now was wait.
