Trigger Event: Because of how controlling Diana's father was about everything in her life, she decided to rebel in her own little way by getting an older, "bad boy" boyfriend. For a little while, Diana loved the thrill she got by being rebellious and sneaking around with her boyfriend and even thought they were in love; however, as the relationship went on, Diana found that her boyfriend was just as, if not more, controlling than her father. He started getting angry about the littlest things, while slowly stripping away any small freedom she had left. On the day Diana got her powers, she had realized just how abusive the relationship had become and decided to break up with her boyfriend. But when he got to her house, and she tried to break up with him, he snapped and reached a new level of abuse. He started beating her, all the while screaming at her about how she would never be allowed to leave him. After a few minutes of the brutal abuse, Diana laid on the floor unable to pick herself back up. Her boyfriend lit a cigarette and took a step back to survey his work. "See what you made me do now?" He said cooly, apparently not at all moved by the damage he had just done. "Get up off the floor, you sorry, good for nothing bitch," he growled. When Diana didn't move he only became angrier at her lack of response. He grabbed her arm to roughly yank her up off the floor. When Diana's head lolled to the back and forth as she rode the edge of unconsciousness he latched onto both Diana's arm and began shaking her, holding his cigarette between his lips. Diana's legs refused to work, even though she was trying desperately to stand up. Her boyfriend thought she was purposely being disobedient, and became even more pissed off. He held her up by one arm and began aggressively burning her with his cigarette all over her body. The searing pain was excruciating. Something snapped in Diana, and all of a sudden the exploded in her boyfriend's hand like a smoke bomb. The smoke immediately started expanding, becoming too thick to see through, and filling the room. Her boyfriend started coughing and wheezing while searching for the door blindly, but Diana breathed in the smoke with no problem. She felt like she was breathing the freshest air she'd every encountered. Without even realizing what she was doing, Diana continued to thicken the smoke, and within moments her boyfriend was dead from smoke inhalation. The smoke began to clear, but it took several minutes before Diana was able to make it to her feet. That's when she found her boyfriend lying dead on the floor, his eyes wide and nearly completely red from the explosion of his optic blood vessels. She just stared at him in horror for a moment. As much as she hated him for what he had done to her, she had never meant to seriously hurt him. She had no idea what to do, but she did know one thing- she could not stay here. Her father would never forgive her, and the fear of his shame and disappointment would smother her until she died just like her boyfriend, and so she decided to run away from it all. She left her house and made a promise to herself that she would never return there.
History: Diana's mother died when she was very young from a terminal illness. Diana grew up with her father acting as a single parent. Their small family of two was pretty well off, and for a time Diana had an easy, happy life; however, as Diana got older and started to desire more autonomy and freedom to make her own choices, her father was refused to relinquish any control over Diana's life and choices. He became overbearing and obsessive about controlling every single detail of Diana's life. Eventually, Diana got too overwhelmed with all her father's expectations and rules, and when she went through her trigger event, she snapped and decided to run away from it all. After living on the streets for a short time, Diana was approached by a strange man in a suit who introduced her to Nathan. Diana realized that if she joined the Renegades she would have the best of both worlds. She would have the chance at a degree of freedom she had been searching for, but she would not be left to live alone on the streets with no means to take care of herself. She joined the Renegades, and the rest is history.
