Current Trying to get back into the swing of things (for a 2nd time!)

Bio

Hi there I'm Rultaos, or simply Rult as some of my friends call me. I first got into RP'ing on two different sites back when I was in High School. The forums of the games Minecraft and Spiral Knights. Both had game-related RP's, as well as off-topic ones regarding fantasy and sci-fi. This was around 3-4 years ago. I wasn't really good at it back then, but I met a lot of great people and feel like I really improved since then.

For any of you who are curious, this was one of my biggest RP undertakings before I got into this site (My username also comes from this as a tribute to it!). It's not really a very well-written roleplay (or a very well-managed one for that matter). But it really meant a lot to me because of how far it went, how long it survived, and how it inspired my fellow players there. It always fills me with a sense of nostalgia whenever I glance at it in my bookmarks...

I got into RPGuild back when it was still using the old server (the one that got taken down after Mahz got behind on his pay and the providers ended their service without warning). I was pretty bummed when this happened because I was already actively participating in a number of roleplays, and I could only stay in contact with a select few guildmates on the Facebook group. Eventually, the long wait was over, and the site was given renewed life after a few bumps in the road that guildmaster Mahz faced in his attempts to resurrect this place. It was a good day for many including myself when this site slowly started getting more and more features.

2014 was my second year in college and was a very stressful time for me. Mostly concerning academics, with a few occasional problems regarding friends and fellow students alike. Because of this, I had to suddenly drop out of roleplaying for a while in order to have the time to get my real life back in order.

Now, I've returned to the site, and am hoping to get back into the groove of roleplaying and make more great friends and have even greater adventures through whatever huge universe your brilliant minds can think of! If you wanna invite me to play, or even just have a friendly chat about anything, send a message my way and I'll reply as soon as I can =)

For those of you who are wondering, my roleplay interests include: Sci-Fi, Military, sometimes Fantasy, a Fandom one if I'm familiar with the source material, heck I'd be willing to dabble in an Apocalypse setting as well. I'm also willing to try new things as well if it seems fascinating enough. So hit me up with an idea any time and I'd be happy to share my thoughts with you.

Well, I feel like I've used up enough for your time. Thanks for caring enough to read all this, and I hope you enjoy your roleplay adventures as much as I have in the past and the present ^_^

Posting on behalf of Mackielars. We've both been busy with our Thesis hence the lack of response coming from us (Plus her laptop is still busted). She will try to post by tomorrow. If not, we will post after the next story post by Jb. I'm wondering where @Dannyrulx is though especially since the Cadians are the backbone of our squad.
@agentmanatee Haha, Faith sounds like an omen for things to come . I didn't know our primer actually had some info on the Tau though, sorry about that. I can rectify my post later on
Okay so Good news and bad news

Good news: I got a post up. I hope that helps others with their posts

Bad news: Mackielars' laptop is refusing to turn on. All of the Thesis data is there, and this also means it might take her longer to get back online and get a reply going. She's also freaking out in a bad way right now :'(
When the Chimera shuddered to life, Marcus was just finished fixing his helmet onto his head. He braced himself to his seat as their vehicle moved forward into the waiting ramp of the transport ships.

"Hold on tight, boys and girls! We're about to head off!" Bertolt announced from the driver's seat of the Chimera. He felt the Chimera tip upwards slightly as they climbed onto the ramp, and then shudder back down as the Chimera flattened itself on the floor of the transport ship. Soon after that, there was another loud rumble, but this time from the outside as the ship whirred to life and began lifting off from the Castellan. "The Emperor protects! Let's hope we get down there in one piece!" Marcus said to no one in particular as their vehicle departed for the planet below.

When they made landfall, Marcus was ready to come out guns blazing, mainly because of the hostile reception that they had when they exited warp. He was half-expecting the planet to be occupied by the enemy and that they would be expected to make a hot landing. So he was surprised to see a base being set up as the Chimera exited onto their landing zone. The vehicle halted causing Marcus to jerk a bit and wonder what happened. "Alright lads, the brass says this is where you step off. Guess we'll be killing the Emperor's enemies together some other time." Bertolt said as he opened the rear doors of the Chimera.

"No problem, Bertie. You'll get your chance as long as you don't get blown up before our next assignment. Marcus replied jokingly to him. "Very funny, Mudfish. Your complete distrust of my competence is duly noted." Bertolt replied sarcastically. With that, Marcus dismounted the Chimera with the rest of the squad as the vehicle rolled off towards the motor pool.

A Ministorum clerk then directed their unit, along with the rest of the 87th Combined's forces, into a large flat area where the infantry was gathered. After their squad had gotten an area assigned to them, Marcus took off his bag to do another check on his gear, and also took his helmet off for now. At the moment, they had little to do other than wait for further orders.

Though, it wasn't long until their squad was summoned by Junior-Commisar Sigrun herself. The blonde officer led the unit to a secluded part of the landing zone where Captain Rochus was waiting for them. "The Captain is calling us personally? Mighty high honor for a newly-made squad like ours. What's he got in store for us, I wonder...?" Marcus thought to himself a he lined up at attention before their CO.

"Welcome to Sheol Arcadius... You may not realise it from where we are, but there is a vast and rugged planet out there. It seems that, not intent on losing it to our forces decades ago, the fish-heads have decided to come back and 'reclaim' it for their 'Greater Good' and such. We are here to stop them, of course." Rochus briefed them before gesturing at the nearby chairs and inviting them to sit. Marcus wasn't sure what enemy they were facing, but he had heard some Guardsmen from other regiments refer to a faction known simply as the "Tau" as Fish-heads in passing, but he knew little of them, much less this "Greater Good" The captain referred to. The best that he heard were vague tales of veterans about "deadly lights". Pushing the thoughts aside for now, he took a seat next to Meris and Khaz (because everyone else had already taken a seat elsewhere and it was the only ones left open). As soon as everyone had sat down, the Captain outlined his plans to them.

Apparently, their squad was being given the honor of selecting their assignment, and also deciding on the callsign that would be assigned to their unit. Rochus told them of the different assignments they could undertake and to choose between them. Marcus thought hard about the tasks they were given before turning towards Ninke.

"Sir, if I'm not speaking out of line, I suggest we take up either the northeast settlement that must be held, or the assignment in the port town. Personally speaking, a majority of us are more suited to close-combat roles and urban fighting, with a few exceptions. So I don't fancy the idea of taking our chances out in the open wilds or in unknown territory where the locals might as well be hostiles. But the decision is still yours, sir." Marcus said to their squad leader, before turning around to see if his other squadmates had anything to say on the matter.

Am writing my IC post now, but I don't know if I can finish it tonight. Also, Mackielars told me to tell you guys that she wasn't expecting to be unable to reply for this long because work on her Thesis suddenly started piling up, and that she's sorry for her absence.
Okay, I'll try to get something ready by tomorrow (even if it will probably be short), today was more busy than I thought it would be so I didn't manage to get it done today >_<
Umm... Are we expected to post before Manatee chooses a mission for us? I decided to give my opinion in the OOC instead of the IC because Marcus doesn't know shit about the Tau (except the very few references in stuff he's read, which doesn't count for much). Much less their auxiliary forces (Kroots, Vespids, etc.)
Permission to speak, squad leader? But perhaps we should choose a mission that sends us to one of the towns so that if we encounter the Tau, we can force them into close-combat, as long as they don't Broadside the shit out of us.
So... Do we at least get a plan to be able to get within purging range before plasma fire kills us all?
Sounds interesting, though I'm not sure what kind of operator I would play as though, haha. In terms of experience I've seen plenty of videos of Rainbow Six Siege, and read quite a bit on military tactics and history (both out of interest and for roleplaying purposes). Though I'm always willing to ask for new info should I need it
