"Queen.
Queen. Queen. All hail the..."
"All hail the fair and amiable king. A respectable man, worshiped by all as he graces us with hi-"
Have you ever thought that you were destined for something before you knew what that
something was? For Aleviar, that was being a queen. Someone that everyone respected and feared. Perhaps fear was something that queens and kings shouldn't have their people feel when they entered a room. But when this queen walked the halls of her castle, the guards bowed down with respect and the servants cowered in fear. Her long eyelashes fluttered open as she lay awake in the bed with the covers barely covering her and the sun still hiding, waiting for the darkness to disappear. It was only 6 am after all. Aleviar always thought that the sun was likely to be a weakling if it were to be a human.
Her dear sister always said,
"Don't you think the sun is just smiling at us every day? A bright smile. A sweet and innocent smile," and Aleviar never responded. She just kept her head down but she was likely correct. A smile for a coward and someone that didn't want to see just what was going on in this beautiful kingdom of hers.
As she fit her arms through the sleeves of a beautiful white gown that truly made simplicity something that was never to be underestimated. White; a pure color, unlike her. While the silk touched her skin, she wondered just how long it had been since she had a dream that included her father. A weak man but someone she did at times miss. But with the amount of money and jewels that were brought to this kingdom due to her superb financial skills, it made her feel more at ease since surely her father would praise her on how she lifted the kingdom from its debt.
It didn't matter. No matter what I did, this kingdom will look at me as if I'm the enemy. The big bad wolf. But I'm fine with that. She walked out of her room and searched for her favored guard.
"Oh, there you are Oliver." She walked over to the man with and placed a stern expression on her face.
"When is the next shipment coming?"
Compliments, compliments, and even more compliments. Shower me with love but also feel dread when you're near me. Annalise had been up since 4 am, washing her hands until exactly 4:30 am. Not a second before or later. If she could still feel the sensation of blood on her hands, surely she wouldn't be able to fall asleep peacefully again.
Annalise just couldn't help but feel a smile creep up her face as she thought of the man from just the day before. What had he been accused of? Kidnapping one of the
merchandise for his own pleasure? Or maybe it was a fairy tale of true love where he was her prince coming to save her from the beautiful castle. Yes, either way, I'll think of it as that sweet story. But his screams were wonderful. Really, they caused me to see an entirely different side of him than I had before. I'd seen him roaming the halls as a guard before. He was - seemed like a sincere man but it turned out to be just the opposite. But his screams were truly wonderful. Honestly just made me want to bottle the sound in a small glass and listen to it whenever I felt like it. But that'd be strange and I want to be normal.
Her hands were as clean as ever but there had never been any blood. No, the black gloves covered in blood sat in the corner of her room. Annalise left her room and didn't bother searching for her dear older sister, Aleviar. Instead, she walked down the hall and into her brother's room. His beautiful face glistened as the sun peaked through the curtains.
"Goodmorning dear brother~" she said calmly, her lips right next to his ear. Annalise knew that Atticus had been distancing themselves from the family slowly over the past few years but surely, it would be fine. After all, Annalise loved him more than any other and she was certain of that.
She stood up from his bed slowly and opened the curtains, allowing the sun to grace them with her happiness.
