Bio

Long timer roleplayer, been at it for... god, almost 15 years now all told. Hasn't been all sunshine and roses, but I like to think I've improved somewhat steadily as time has gone on.

I generally like to play older characters, or at least toward the higher end of an age range. Also, just about all of my characters are caring and protective in some capacity, even the rare meanie that I make.

I play a mixture of male and female characters. I myself am a guy.

Generally speaking I try to post at least once per week.

I had a problem with the way you went about having Seth notice because it was illogical and due to that issue, it made everything else you wanted him to do unlikely.

So... does this mean I shouldn't know about it, or that I should find an alternate means if finding out such as an audio rather than a visual?

There's nothing you guys can do about the van. It's going to drive off and it won't come back until it has dropped off its load. Where is it going? Your characters are going to have to use some logic and find out.

That was not my question. I would like to know if it is at all possible to tail the van on foot, not try to stop it. Also asked because following it was what Raijin was talking about doing and that got me thinking about the particulars of such.

As for Vix's situation, it really should be Jaden who should be worrying most about his Pokemon. It is HIS Pokemon after all. I know you have RPed with Feisty before, but you can't allow that relationship to seep IC into the game because your character is still a complete stranger to Feisty and Raijin's characters. I'm not telling you not to get involved. I'm telling you that if Jaden actually gives a damn, then he needs to be the leader on this, and if your character cares, then he should be support.

I understand that, and that is my every intent. However, in this particular case, I have a snipped post sitting right at the top of the current page, and leaving it as such goes against my sense of forum etiquette. I don't know if you saw it or not, but I am trying to hammer things out with Raijin so that when I do sit down and write this, whatever it is I decide to do will NOT usurp Jaden's rightful role. Also, I should note that my history with Feisty has almost nothing to do with my involvement. In fact, if I thought it could pan out, I'd have Seth disengage and go get back to setting myself up on equal footing with Gredy, Jaden, and Rasa. Had this development not happened, that is exactly what I would be doing. But because Seth knows that Vix belongs to a trainer who clearly opposes the operation because he just gave them a Kirk Summation and nearly got into a fight over it, letting it happen and doing nothing about it is totally out of character for him. Plus I also feel partially responsible for it; if I had maintained my post to start a conversation with Vix instead of snipping it, this may not have happened. So I personally feel like I have an obligation to help stop it since I indirectly helped bring it about.

As for the Pokemon Club giving him their business card, absolutely not. He and Jaden have already announced their distaste for their business. Why would any businessman or woman give out their card to someone who spits on their business?

That is why I also asked about the possibility of having an NPC do it. Something akin to a younger trainer asking so he can tell his friend in let's say Pewter City about this great opportunity, Seth overhearing it, and asking said younger trainer if he could take a look at the card. I am nowhere near stupid enough to think they've forgotten about Seth and would just bow to his request.

Okay, now that I've had some time to think, I'm not a fan of having another blank post just sitting in the thread. So, I'd like to rewrite it, but before I did that I wanted to toss a few questions about so we don't have another debacle.

@Holy Soldier I would like Seth to be aware of the Vixnapping and react to it. However, part of your original contention seemed to be my assumed observation of it, and I'm not 100% sure if that was just because I had her in the wrong location or because of that and because I'm not supposed to notice it. So; can Seth become aware of it, or should he have no idea?

Assuming the answer is that I can be aware: (If not, ignore everything below here)
How fast is the van moving? I ask mainly because if my initial guess is correct and it's heading down the road at 40 or 50 mph, following it on foot is impossible and I won't consider it.

For the sake of an alternative/avoiding player redundancy, if the Club were to be asked (by either Seth or an NPC I'd drum up as part of the crowd who's more Club friendly) for a business card or contact info or some other variant of getting an address, what would be the result?

@Raijinslayer since my post is already in the thread where I'd put this, how would you feel about some nonverbal communication between Jaden and Seth? I know you said you had a Pokemon who could alert him to Vix's plight, but maybe an exchange of looks to say "Something is wrong, look alive" perhaps?

She could totally by chance open a ball containing a Alolan vulpixs, for example. With the help of psychic stress the metal by freezing/overheating/freezing/overheating etc.

That was a pitch I was considering, but I'm on some thin ice as it is so I'm planning to leave things open and let the GMs work it how they like best (which is why I edited the Club out of the CS)
Hey guys, got a question for ya's. What's better than one foxgirl in an RP?

Since it appears to have been lost in the shuffle when I originally submitted.

EDIT: stats adjusted according to Talija's critique.
*throwsn in my two cent* I dont know the big plan.

But. If I were in the pokemon club doing legal trading and Seth walked up to me to say what he did. I would smile say of course we will get your pokemon back. Show me your pokedexs so we know which ball with a vulpix is registered to you.

Oh you have ZERO pokemon to your name. Call the police for attempted theft!

Oh she doesnt have a pokeball? She is a wild pokemon then and doesnt belong to anyone. And whoever catches her with a pokeball first is her trainer. You failed to catch her you have no legal ground to demand her.

*shrughs* But alas, I have zero idea about the big plan.

Right, that was one of the holes I figured would occur. The response I had prepared was "I caught her on Route 1, her ball broke when a bandit tried to attack us, and we were on our way to get her a new one," but that was admittedly a flimsy response at best *sweatdrop*
@Saltwater ThiefMy only issue with the whole ordeal is that it kinda puts me as the Roleplayer in a bit of a conundrum because, in Jaden's ramblings, he was going to mess up the plan and I didn't want to do that, because I was curious to see if it could work out in the way you had intended. However, if that's not what we decided to go with, then panic-rage Jaden will follow the truck. Actually, I have an easy way to inform Jaden about the kit-napping in the fact that he has two extra pairs of eyes tailing him, one of which is rather annoyed with the fox making them run all over the goddamn city with her inability to keep still.

Well, the whole thing is rather moot at this point unless something unexpected occurs. Just let me know if you think up a particular use for Seth, otherwise I'll try to find a spot for him to fill in after you and Fei post (or just break off entirely; I'm starting to get the feeling my involvement has worn out its welcome in this scenario)
@Saltwater ThiefMy problem with your post is: 1) You assume in your post that the situation happened right in front of the Pokemon Club table to "conveniently" allow your character to see it happen. Vix had moved over to the van area in secret and was hiding before she was snatched up. I don't think she would had hid right next to the Pokemon Club table where any of the staff could have easily seen her; 2) You really, really need to start collaborating with other writers because you are wasting time and energy writing assumptions that you already know after you write them that I'm going to reject the idea. So why do it? Why waste your time? All you got to do is PM people or even run your idea by me. You can do it here in the OOC or PMs, and I can help you tweak the idea until it is possible rather than you send me BS.

Having said this, get with @Feisty-Pants@Raijinslayer and see what they propose so that you don't have to assume anymore. If you did get with them beforehand, then I'm disapointed because they have been in this game for 3 months, which is long enough to figure out how I roll. I want to believe that they would have advised you not to post it up. You are getting frustrated with wanting your character to do something about a situation but you aren't collaborating with anyone; not even the damn GM.

Fine. Post snipped again, I'll try a 3rd time later. To answer things in some semblance of order;

I was under the impression based on an OOC conversation between us from earlier that Raijin was going to have Jaden be mostly unaware of the Vixnapping and follow the truck for different reasons, and from how I read the GMP Vix wouldn't have freedom to act until well after any of my actions would have resolved. As such, I did not think I'd necessarily require their collaboration for this particular action, and so I did not seek it (also because I knew they were both busy with school and family matters and I didn't want to tie them up further). My lone wolf tendencies certainly didn't help.

That she had moved away from the table was an oversight on my part, Feisty hadn't posted since Vix's rant on the table so I presumed she hadn't moved and absentmindedly neglected the part of the post where you moved her. I take full responsibility for that.

I knew the idea probably wouldn't work but I did it anyway because what happened was I had the thought to try it if the van hadn't left when it might have been more feasible, but after re-realizing the contrary I decided to stick with it despite knowing it wouldn't work because I thought it was an interesting ploy nonetheless and on additional thought I determined that it is something Seth would try In-Character. In life, people don't always go for the most foolproof move possible, and in the past I've had GMs reward following that with surprising degrees of success. If nothing else, I figured it would cause the Club to partially bear its actual fangs in verbal retaliation and lead to development that way as Seth comes around to think that maybe there's a criminal element after all. Adding to this is the idea that realistically speaking, I don't expect anything I try to work because I am still lacking the most basic tool for the RP in a Pokemon Partner, and even though I have one lined up amending that at present would require what I consider to be an unacceptable amount of breaking character. I figure if I can't make an effective choice, I may as well make an interesting one.

I am not in the habit of consulting the GM with every idea or even most ideas I have, primarily because in my experience when I say "Here is my plan in detail, would this work?" the first thing they do is come up with reasons it absolutely wouldn't. Not because they're out to get me, but because it's part of their job as a GM to create conflict and opposition for the players, so that's a natural reaction when a Player presents a plan in any form. By contrast, if I keep my cards near my vest until I put them on the table, so to speak, there's an element of surprise and unexpectedness to it- and I've had multiple instances where that surprise has helped me weight the pending reaction more in my favor (usually resulting in only partial failure rather than total shutdown), so it's become a rather ingrained habit that, admittedly, has run me into snags in the past.

Moving forward then, it seems to me that the principle issue lies in the fact that how I have handled myself up until now has clashed horribly with what you expect from your players as a whole. Given our positions, it is on me to remedy my side of it as opposed to vice versa, and I will endeavor to do so as best I can.

In the meantime, @Raijinslayer & @Feisty-Pants, I'll let you two take the lead for the rest of this bit. We'll say Seth has not reacted to anything yet, and if you have a particular use for him in your plan you need only say the word. And if the general consensus is that I ought to butt out of the whole thing, I can probably figure out a way to make that work given some time.
Alright, I'll have Dorian's entrance (all piss & vinegar included) sometime in the next 2 or 3 days.

I apologize for being a terrible player. I will work on figuring out a premise to intro Saiba in the next day or so.

EDIT: Also yes, what Fei said. Go take a look, we've put a lot of time into that (and hopefully will put a bunch more in still)!
Post is up. There is maybe a 0.5% chance of this working, and I can honestly say I could name 7 different ways to shoot it down with ease, but it was an idea that came to me and something that Seth would do, so we're doing it.

PS: the Spoiled Brat is intended to be Hestia's original trainer. I'll leave it up to @Holy Soldier whether or not her ball actually made it into the van, since he may or may not want a 2nd PC Gijinka in with Vix (assuming she's accepted, of course. If not he can just be a random jackass I came up with on the spot).
