That's true, though it would likely depend on what level you yourself classified the characters as.

Should I simply remove the "level 6" portion of the description? If so, what should I replace it with? I could state an amount in joules that would become dangerous for her, but then I have the problem of trying to calculate the exact magnitude in joules of every attack that hits her, and I'm afraid I'm not THAT well-educated on the subjects involved. Using "level 6 attacks" as a basis gives a bit of leniency so it doesn't take all the fun out of writing the character every time she gets hit and I have to pull out a calculator, while also establishing that if a level 7 character hit her with everything they've got, it would pretty well finish her (at least for a while), while level 8, 9, and 10 characters would be progressively more likely to make her ash if she tried absorbing an all-out attack.
Mr Allen J said I'd say any energy she re projects should be of a lesser output than what she's received it. Also, we do not have a scale for attacks. So technically it'd be hard to measure what would be an "attack above level 6"

It's not explicitly stated in the CS, but that would be the case as the power is explained right now. Any of the energy that causes damage to her in the process of absorption would by necessity be used up doing it, so even when she's actively absorbing it there would still be a portion of waste that she couldn't redirect back outwards. If she was absorbing fire, for instance, a portion of that energy would escape her control during the channeling process and cause damage to her body, so she would either have to release the remaining energy in a weaker version of the attack it hit her as, convert it into raw negentropic energy to store or use for enhancement, or boost it with a portion of her previously stored energy.

So it's not a perfect conversion by any means. Even when she's actively absorbing, a portion of the energy directed at her is lost. If you want an exact amount, I'd say it would start at around a 40% loss when she first learns she can absorb energy, then that would decrease as she gains more skill in it, though never to the point of perfect conversion.

As for the power level of an attack, I'd imagine that "an attack above level 6" would be what happens when a level 7 energy projector pushes themselves to the brink of ashing (without going over).
Would it work if any passive absorption was only enough to fuel her healing ability? The energy for that has to come from somewhere, and since she isn't aware of any abilities apart from her healing right now it would have to be a partially subconscious thing. It would only drain something like 5% from any attack, so the majority of the energy would still hurt her and get used up in the process if she doesn't see it coming and actively work to absorb it. In order to have any extra energy to work with, she does need to actively absorb it from her surroundings (attacks, sunlight, etc).

And if I understand the second part right, you're saying that she wouldn't be able to conduct absorbed energy through her body (damaging herself in the process due to the nature of her ability) then re-release it as the same form she received it in? Meaning that if she was struck by lightning, she wouldn't be able to channel it through herself and re-release it as electricity? If you're worried that it would simply be a rebounding of energy, it wouldn't. It would always have to go through her first, so if it was more energy than she is capable of conducting (ie, an attack above level 6), she'll end up either hospitalized or ashed.
I'm sorry for being absent so long guys. My birthday was last weekend and it's been busy ever since.
David re-oriented when his opponent stepped to the left, the movement gaining him nothing at all in the grand scheme of things. When he got close, David backpedaled out of the range of the slash, then waited for it to pass him by before charging forward himself and driving a straight kick directly at Dylan's oncoming chest.
Sweet. Let's get this ball rolling.
Alright, I've re-written and re-posted Paige's profile, with quite a lot of help from Cryptiic to get everything ironed out. Let me know what you think Allen.
Basic Information

Name: Paige Wilson
Nickname/Alias/Etc: None currently
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Height: 5'4"
Weight: 110 pounds
Status: New Student

Appearance

Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Green
Ethnicity: Caucasian (American)

Physical Appearance:
Paige is a girl with black hair that falls to just beneath her shoulder blades, green eyes that are just a bit too big, and full lips that always seem on the verge of a pout, all complementing a heart shaped face with soft features and a fair complexion. Her figure is somewhere between slender and curvy, though leaning a bit more towards the former with the toned muscles of a gymnast. While her body itself bears no scars, thanks to her ability, her muscles and bones were conditioned by wooden bats and leather boots, giving her a solid frame that is firm to the touch, rather than the softness one might expect from a seventeen year-old girl. Her large eyes are wary, always looking for the next threat even when she tries to hide it, and her hands will often wander to her elbows when left idle, as though she wants to curl up inside herself. Looking people in the eyes is still strange to her, and her gaze normally wanders over the ground and objects around her, landing only briefly on the people she's with, and then only when necessary.

Attire:
Strongly gothic most of the time, lots of black and dark brown and leather. Miniskirts, thigh-high stockings and boots, corsets, jackets, and studded belts. She likes clothes that fit her perception of the world, a dark and cold and dangerous place. She can't stand bright colors and rainbow patterns, the kind of things you'd find on sundresses and the like. To her, the world has never been bright and cheery, so why would she want to dress up like it is? She doesn't wear much in the way of jewelry or piercings either. The first is too noisy and just draws attention when you have too much and the second never lasts more than a minute.

Personality

Outward & Innate Personality:
Paige seems like an introspective young woman who tends to get wrapped up in her own thoughts, but not to the point of rudeness. She'll wave when you say hi, smile when you say something nice, and laugh when you tell a joke.
She never really feels any of it, though, and she learned through experience how hard it can be to live as an outcast, leading her to develop a facade that she puts up for the rest of the world to see, acting the part of the cute little goth girl who always seems just a little bit off. Whenever she smiles, there's a hint of sadness, and whenever she laughs, there's a touch of bitterness. Even when she waves hello there's tension hidden in the movement, like she can't trust that the good times and happy feelings will last.
She learned to tune those kinds of emotions out long ago, however, never feeling anything but numb because if you never feel happy or content, then nobody can take those things and use them against you. Joy, happiness and hope are nothing but potential weaknesses for others to exploit, and the best way to defend oneself against the people like that is to simply tune everything else out. Better to just stay empty than get everything good wrung out of you over and over again.
Thanks to Steven though, she has begun to open up to the good things again, started experiencing them as more than just undistinguished moments in time and appreciating them for the beautiful things they are.

Hobbies/Interests:
Movement and exercise is something Paige finds immensely therapeutic, a way to clear her mind of all the harsh reality of her life, and she has taken to practicing gymnastics, parkour, mixed martial arts, and knife fighting whenever she gets the chance. When she can, she especially loves to do this out amongst nature where there are no people or buildings or machines, just the plants and animals and her. Out there, she doesn't have to try and fake being normal, doesn't have to be on edge every second waiting for the other shoe to drop. Nature is never capable of cruelty, and that is very appealing to her. Sure, a wildcat might kill a deer, but it doesn't do so in order to cause suffering and then laugh at the prey cowering beneath it. In nature, predators only kill to survive, and there is nothing cruel about that.

Skills/Talents:
She likes to think she's a decent actress, using it as a way to hide the mental and emotional scars Harry gave her from the rest of the world, and Steven always said she was one of the most promising fighters he'd ever seen (though always followed it up with "but you've got a long way to go, slick"). He's also told her she's probably one of the toughest people he's ever met, surviving everything she did. The things Harry did can either break a person or make them stronger, and for her it was a lot of both.

Prized Possession:
A necklace found with her when she was a baby. She likes to think it belonged to her mother.

History/Bio:
(in progress)

Family:
No blood relatives known.
Multiple foster-familes.

Relationships

Relationships:

Steve Wilson | Good | Legal Guardian | "He was the first person I met that treated me like another person, and I owe him everything I am. If it wasn't for him, I'd still be a broken, helpless mess. He pulled me out of that pit Harry kept me in, washed the grime and dirt off, and gave me a reason to hope again. I still think his quest to make me normal is hopeless though."

Harry Masterson | Bad | Former foster-father | Deceased | "They kept saying how sorry I must have felt for killing him, how traumatized I must be by it, but the truth is I never felt anything when it happened. All the trauma came before he died, and by the time I buried that splinter in his chest I was so numb I couldn't even be glad it was over."

Gina Masterson | Neutral | Former foster-mother | "She wasn't really a bad person, and as much as I hated her for going along with him then, I understand that now. She was just as afraid of him as I was, just trying to stay out of his way long enough to make it through the day without any more bruises. I despised her back then, but now... I hope she found a Steven of her own."

Abilities:

Power Class: Energy/Anatomical: 8

Powers:

  • Energy Absorption. Essentially, Paige has the ability to drain most types of energy directed towards her into her body and use it to achieve a variety of effects. She can channel it back outwards directly in the same form as it was when absorbed, project it to enhance the energy levels within pre-existing systems, or use it to bolster her own regenerative capabilities. This is effective on any energy that is capable of applying work to physical matter in some way or another, be it thermal, kinetic, electromagnetic or nuclear. So far, although she has proven able to absorb concussive force, she has been unable to withstand the damaging effects of direct physical impacts, meaning that she would be vulnerable to regular hand-to-hand combat or conventional weaponry, but not explosions or energy blasts. Additionally, Paige's rate of passive absorption is only enough to fuel her ability to heal, and she must actively utilize her ability in order to absorb and manipulate any larger amounts of energy.

Enhancement: As mentioned above, once Paige has drained energy from an attack, she is able to use it to enhance the local energy levels within pre-existing systems in her vicinity. This basically works by converting the absorbed energy into raw negentropic force which will enhance the energetic flow of anything it is projected into. Fires will burn more brightly, plants will grow much more quickly, people will regenerate more easily, winds will blow more strongly. Mutants affected by this will find their abilities temporarily enhanced. Basically, the energetic cost of any action will be decreased when exposed to this effect.

  • Regeneration: Using the energy absorbed by her other ability, Paige's body is able to greatly enhance the speed and effectiveness of its own regenerative capabilities, far beyond the limits of a regular human. She will heal from injuries at a very rapid rate, with most small cuts and bruises disappearing within a minute. Burns, gashes and other moderate injuries will usually fade away within the next thirty to ninety minutes, while broken bones and other severe injuries will typically only last for a day or so. Whenever she is channeling large amounts of energy, this ability will be enhanced, to compensate for the damage she receives during the process.

  • Weaknesses: To put it simply, energy. Although she is capable of absorbing many forms of energy, she is unable to achieve a perfect conversion, meaning that a portion of any energy she absorbs is still expended in the form of damage to her body. Using her ability will often leave her burned, electrocuted, concussed or irradiated, and it is not uncommon for her skin to start smoking or sparking erratically whenever she is using large amounts of power. The only reason she is able to withstand such intense and traumatizing amounts of force is that her healing capabilities are significantly increased during the channeling process, enabling her body to survive, although just barely. While handling a small battery or lighter's worth of power is relatively trivial, larger amounts of energy will often leave her skin burnt, blistered and raw for up to an hour afterwards. Absorbing particularly high-powered attacks will most likely result in hospitalization, and keeping large amounts of power stored unused within her body is extremely unpleasant, as well as giving her an extremely high risk of ashing. Her internal batteries are usually best kept at under 40 percent of their maximum capabilities, to prevent causing undue strain upon her metabolism.

Other: So far, she is only aware of the regenerative portion of her abilities.
Vordak, QT, you guys still here? At this point, the next post belongs to whichever of you makes it first.
Most of the stuff listed in the active portion of the CS is the absolute evolution of the power, and would never be attained in the RP. She'd have to live for thousands of years in order to learn how to "see" atoms, or even molecules, and be able to achieve the vast effects that would ultimately be possible.

Regardless, I can certainly understand that it's too big a power to work here, so I'll come up with something else to go with.

As for the personality, would you accept a sample post instead of history/more personality elaboration? Like I said before, I'm really not good at listing personality traits.

And last but not least, she wasn't raised by a murderer, he was a soldier. And she only killed one person in self defense. It wasn't a premeditated act of murder.

All that said, I've always sucked at bio's. >_< So I apologize for all the lack of coherence and adequate detail.
