All of the above. My basic idea is, the Astoriel being so ancient and prolific, they've had numerous fractures and reformations that have created splinter groups or seceding states. Thus the "Dark Elves" (working name at the moment: "Svariel") are just a catchall for members of their race that are outside the Enclave.

Oh sure. Go nuts man. I'll ask the mods for a little editing on my culture just to include your idea at least.
@Seirei No Hai My general idea was that of Astoriel that had forsaken The One and the Enclave, and struck out to use their technology to their own ends. They could even deliberately sever whatever innate connection their possess with The One in order to cement their autonomy, possibly at the cost of some innate magics or what have you.

Honestly if you hadn't written "space elves" in your CS I would have literally just called by guy a "Dark Elf" and called it a day.

So like an atheist cult spread across Elysia that believes that The One isn't what their former kin believe it to be? Or did they find some other divine/demonic being they could worship in its place because whatever they are promises better in comparison?
@Seirei No Hai Seeing as you've codified Space Elves, would it be acceptable to you if I made my character the Dark Elf analogue? Not really biologically different, like Drow would be, but more of a difference in culture, like the Druchii. I imagine them as being generally the outcasts, exiles, and heretics of the Altari, living in remote conclaves all throughout Elysia.

Hm, that's an interesting suggestion. They're also called the Astoriel, by the way. Altari is my character's name hailing from that race. Dark Elves aren't normally called outcasts or exiles since they believe The One made everything. It doesn't mean that he won't be a bad boi, obviously. I suppose if he has committed heinous crimes against The One or the Enclave in general, then sure heck he could even have a bunch of dark elf buddies as his merry band of troublemakers if he so wishes.
I think me? But that'll be a bit later, am doing something at the moment.
@Seirei No Hai

It's the Membari on a sci fi show from the 90s. You mind if I work with you to make the Enclave a power?

Sure.
Izuna Sakuya

While Izuna agreed with the idea of finding fresh water and somewhere to fish for food, it isn't exactly a bright idea seeing as they didn't bring any tents with them (or rather, who would even bring a tent in the city is the question). The silver-haired young lady sighed, looking to the toril in the distance and pointed at it with her index finger stretched out.

This had been beside them the entire time and they were too focused on asking each other questions instead of looking around thoroughly for anything that might lead back home. This old, broken path and the traditional red arch in the distance... to her it could only mean one thing. "Why don't we just walk through this path? Surely there's a temple somewhere or something and when there's a temple there's bound to be an overlook someplace with the city below us." Izuna didn't exactly like sleeping on the dirty ground, especially in the middle of a probably wild forest at night. This takes her back to a flashback from when she was a child and thought the yokai around temple shrines were especially hostile to disrespectful loiterers, as childish as that is Izuna won't take any second chances.

Theres a sci fi race from Babylon 5 that is similar.

Really? :O I'd like to know more about it IC'ly of course.
