Today had been a rather productive day for one, Reyna Lacross a productive day she was pleasantly surprised went so well. She was afriad the snow from late last night would hinder her art group's progress on a wall mural they had been working on. Luckily, the wall hadn't iced over, and the snow was shallow enough that it wouldn't interfere with any part of the piece. They were actually able to finish the mural, and for that, Reyna was thrilled.

With a pleased smile gracing her lips, she walked casually with the crowd of people moving in single file down the street, marvelling at the beauty of the city's night life as it emerged with the setting sun. Being the art student that she was, Reyna had an acute taste for most everything visual and found that the things around her had their own unique style and allure. It was something she had learned on her own growing up in a part of town that wasn't the best place for anyone to live. With the help of her older brother, she was able to hone that skill and was now doing the things she had only dreamed about as a child.

She really needed to call her brother. His birthday was coming up soon, and he had said something last time about coming down for a week.

Reyna continued walking toward a slightly more rural area of town, the crowd thinning until only a small handful of others remained. She recognized a couple she had seen around the housing complex she lived in and struck up a conversation with them until it was time to turn separate ways. Apparently, every Friday was their date night, and tonight they had tried that new sushi bar out on Glendale Street. Despite their mixed reviews, Reyna promised to give it a try before heading toward her more isolated home.

The trees that separated her house from the others in the roomy suburb usually provided a private alcove of sorts from her neighbors, at least in the summer months. It was convenient for when the twin college students on the right decided to have a party or when she decided to have her art group over for a session in her yard. For now, they were just jagged branches that tended to create otherworldly shadows in the right light.

Reyna reached in her shoulder bag for her keys, pausing suddenly when she heard the snap of a branch. She looked around, but was unable to see anything. It was probably a stray cat; she knew of at least one that roamed the complex and jumped around in and out of the trees. She turned once again to her shoulder bag, pulling it up closer to gaze inside. When she pulled out the lanyard that held her keys, one of her cans of spray paint came with it and fell to the concrete slab just before the door, its cap popping off and rolling away.

"Oh! Now how did I manage that?" she questioned herself as she leaned over and picked up the can of paint. The cap would have to be found in the morning; it was too dark and far too cold to stage a search for it now.

As she righted herself, Reyna had the unsettling sense that something was amiss, the hairs on her coat-covered arms raising in alert.

She turned to face her door and reach for the separate lock piece with her keys, instead having a large hand come out and grab her arm roughly. The scream that followed was quickly cut off by an arm covering her mouth, almost effectively pinning her to the man's -she assumed it was a man by the cologne he wore- chest. He was using his strength to keep her locked up, his arm wrapped around her head effectively keeping her from reaching his own to dislodge him.

Instinct took over Reyna then, and with her can of spray paint still in-hand, she maneuvered her arm just so to aim behind her and pushed down on the nozzle hard. The sound of the pressurized product was familiar, though the agonized yelp was more of a comfort at the moment. She twisted hard enough to escape, though it came with the consequence of throwing herself too far to the side. She landed hard on the ground, scrabbling to get up.

She had to get away!
Working on my post now. ^__^
Woohoo! So excited to get staryed! I'll try to have something posted up soon. If not tonight, then tomorrow, for sure.
Damien was once again left to himself in his sell, both cuffs still binding him to his currently human status. It was an annoyance he would have to continue to face, one he was happier with than the torture. Damien frowned deeply. Things would change soon, moreso in his favor. If he needed to, he would attack before all the relics were found.

The night passed uneventfully for the locked away demon, and with the morning came the promise of another adventure. When Genevieve came down to retrieve him, Damien was already up and ready for her. He had cleaned the blood from his face, though his clothes would suffer until half his power was returned to him. His nose, though slightly bruised across the bridge and still just the slightest bit swollen, had healed quite nicely. The bone, at least, had mended correctly.

Damien stared hard at rhe ceiling, just barely aware of the several syringes of holy water Genevieve had packed away. As childish as it seemed, the demon wasn't giving the Angel leader the "silent treatment" as the humans called it. His actions were more for his benefit than to actually do anything towards her, but if it did end up bothering her to some degree, he wasn't complaining. He was more focused on listening to the other angels above his level, reaching out his senses to catch anything that could be used against these wretched holy birds when the time came.

"...about the Relics of Asra? Yeah, I can't believe we're getting closer and closer to..."

"...but I'm serious! Pineapples are just weirdly shaped apples on pine trees. With that logic, you wouldn't think they'd be so..."

"...the Demon yesterday. She must have given him one hell of a beating! There was blood all over..."

"...don't know about you, but this unholy alliance with that demon can only end in disaster. Think about it. What is it getting out of all of this? I know Genevieve has pretty much full control over him at the moment, but how long will that last until things slip up?"

Damien finally looked to Genevieve with almost a blank stare, senses returning to him and his eyes refocussing into a slightly more narrowed form. He held up his left hand and gave a saucy smile, rattling the chain as he shook his wrist.

"I see you recuperated nicely. Still a bit bruised up? Such a shame we weren't able to heal propperly. Quite expected of me, but rather peculiar for you."

He hinted that he had caught on to the cuff's design and how they worked, but he made no other pass to them.

"I assume we'll be leaving with a bigger flock this time? Don't want a repeat of what happened last time, now do we?"
When Damien came to, it was to the sight of Genevieve looking over hom. He was back in his cell now looking none the better than he did. He hadn't been out long, as the sharp sting of his broken nose and recently constricted throat were still new. He could see the number his changes had done on the redhead's pale throat, circular marks of red and pinches of blue already surfacing. With both their powers restricted, it would take them yet another day to heal completely instead of the usual hour or so for minor wounds, unless she were to remove just the one cuff.

"Our next stop...is Augusta, Georgia," he rasped out quietly, reaching up and correcting his broken nose with an audible pop and a short grunt.

"If you want to know precisely where, you know my agreement."

At this, he shook his left arm, the chain rattling almost mockingly.
Oh! I'd like a reading, if ya don't mind. General reading of my life, if you please.
The turn of events was to be expected, but not so soon. Damien was mildly surprised at Genevieve's tactic at gaining the upper hand. He was sure his nose was broken; blood was already everywhere, over both himself and the angel now above him. She had even managed to get her hands free, though that left her throat vulnerable to more pressure from the chains.

They were now locked in a battle of who would give up first. Her hands were wrPped tightly around his neck, only getting tighter as the seconds ticked by. He was able to shorten the chain by wrapping it around his hands further to pull it more tauntly around her throat. He had no plans of letting go until Genevieve gave in to lack of oxygen. At least, that's what he had planned.

As they locked eyes, Damien was able to see the hesitance there, behind all the forced hate and hostility. He had forgotten what he had seen those couple of days ago, the hesitance toward torture. Even on something like him.

He smiled almost cruelly as his grip loosened somewhat on the chains, allowing her to take very small breaths, but breaths nonetheless. He bared his neck just a tad more, already seeing spots in his vision, and closed his eyes, welcoming the darkness that followed.

He would let her win this round, but in the end, who was the real winner?
Damien watched through narrowed eyes as Genevieve left his cell to retrieve another syringe, this one able to hold twice the volume as the last one. He readied himself then, taking hold of the end of the chains connected to the cuffs and wrapping them once around his fingers for leverage. He would only get one shot at this, he was sure, but it would be the only one he needed to get his point across. When the redheaded Angel reentered his cell and stood close enough to him he made his move.

Damien lunged forward and knocked the Angel back, maneuvering himself to keep her pinned. He then wrapped the long chain around first her hands, then her neck, and pulled them taunt enough as a warning that he could strengthen his hold and cut off her air.

"Listen, and listen well," Damien seethed, "you think me much lesser than you. You're wrong. We are equals, you and I, and until you realize this, you will get nowhere in your search for the other relics."

He moved in closer and growled in Genevieve's face.

"I am the only one who knows where I've hidden the relic in my possession, and it will go with me to my death if it comes to such measures. Use any means of torture you like; your attempts will be futile."
He was trained for things like this, had been conditioned to take any kind of pain that would possibly come his way. Still, Damien found that this pain was possibly the worst he had been dealt in a long time. Elapsed time would suggest it had only been ten minutes since the injection, but it had felt like ten hours of misery.

When the effects had worn down, his body still on a low simmer, he was aware of Genevieve grabbing him by his hair and slamming his head into the wall. He grunted at the action, barely affected by the sting of pain and the harsh words being thrown his way.

He was given the smallest reprieve to breathe as Genevieve talked to Adam, and it gave Damien a moment to think. He looked down at the cuffs on his wrists, the long, sturdy chain that connected the two, and thought back to a thought he had developed last night heading out of the cave. If what he had surmised was true, then only one cuff was enough to drain Genevieve's power to the point that her fighting was lacking. Now that he was wearing two, his status that of a human once again, how much was her power stifled this time?

He gave a sly smile before laughing almost maniacally.

"I'm almost proud of your technique," he began, intending to rile up Genevieve once again, "it's quite effective. Done like a true... demon."
Name: Ember Reyan Crest
Age: 21

Personality: Before finding out about her family heritage of being a hunter, Ember is viewed as a very kindhearted woman. She's a bit on the shy side and is often viewed as being too quiet for her own good, though she's very aimiable to making new friends. She is quite caring in nature, almost always putting the needs of others before her own. She's also quick to learn and will practice a task until she can get it down near perfectly. This doesn't mean she doesn't have her bad days, though her anger is more tempered down and motivates her into being productive.

After becoming a hunter, her personality stays relatively the same. She becomes a little more fierce and confident with her new abilities. When on a hunt, she becomes more focused on the task at hand. Her habit of putting others before herself transfers, only now her goal becomes more of a protective aspect. When angered, she'll show it more physically by using that anger to practice her fighting skills.
