Bio

So, hello all, I'm Shi. I've been participating in play-by-post roleplays for the past 8 years, though I did just come back from a break. If I'm working with you and go silent for more than a week without any explanation or heads up please send me a message and call me out on it. (Check my status if this happens. I leave most of these warnings there now.) I honestly just lose the motivation to write a lot...or forget to give a warning and then feel super guilty and put off replying longer.

On a better note; I just recently completed college and my schedule has opened up for the first time in years. Unlike before I am no longer balancing school, work, and life.

That is all...

"My life is my own, its secrets are mine,
I keep my world to myself, so don't cross the line,
But if fiction is what you are looking for, then I will be there,
A pen in my hand and a story to share.

That is what I am here for, to create stories galore,
Epics of heroes, battles of gore,
Lives unheard of, worlds not yet explored,
I am here to write, to no longer be bored."

Rosaline was desperately trying to keep the wall up, ignoring the water sloshing around her neck. She wasn’t worried about drowning, just being trapped terrified her. The nebula turned her head to look at Faira, having been intently listening to her plans. She would have to time this perfectly because the minute she moves her arm away from their current place the wall would crumble faster. “I’m in, just be ready to go once I reach you.” She replies, suddenly taking steps backwards towards the human. Rose’s eyes then turn to Scarlett, now only a foot away from Faira. “Scarlett you need to take her hand… because the minute I drop my arm that wall’s going to fall. Alright?” she questions, looking determined.
I gave up trying to match the length... but I deeply apologize for the inexcusable delay.
Evelin took his hand in hers; giving it a short and friendly shake before pulling away. Her eyes had noted the swirl of ink etched into his skin, the symbols catching her gaze for a brief moment. There were a few she recognized yet some that were completely foreign to her. The woman looked away quickly though, trying not to seem rude for staring at the intricate design around her savior’s wrist. Her gaze instead focused on the doorway he had gestured her towards. Evelin nodded, smiling faintly at Samuel before beginning to walk in that direction. The young woman crossed the threshold, stopping at the stairs for a moment to assure herself that Samuel was indeed following. Then, completely unburdened by the low lighting she made her way up the steps and past the beautiful tapestry. At first she blinked in the darkness, pausing just inside the room, but a gasp left her lips when light filled the space. This had been nothing Evelin had expected. Instead her gaze was met with an almost exotic apartment, though simple in most nature. Sea-foam colored eyes shift around the room, taking in each piece of furniture as she had the artifacts in the room below. She was so lost in her surroundings she almost forgot her savior was in the room… until he spoke once again. Evelin almost jumped, turning to face Samuel quickly with a smile. “I think I should probably try to remove those stains first… before they set.” She replies. Sure she wanted to sit down but she truly wanted to help him somehow… and if that blood was left alone too much longer it would be almost impossible to remove completely. She’d also have to find some white thread, but that could wait… so could her questions.
Rosaline took several steps in the child’s direction, leaving the broken corpse behind as she approached. Her attention was mostly focused on the newest member of their group, Scarlet. Truth be told, Rosaline didn’t trust her, and this distrust was now worse… she had recognized the way her eyes flashed. The nebula’s eyes narrowed before turning her attention to little Ann. She didn’t say anything, smiling sweetly at the little girl as she ate her treat before looking back up to Scarlet. Whatever she had been about to say completely left her mind as she took in their surroundings again. The room was shrinking, boxing them in. Fear swept through the Nebula, rooting her in place. She could hear rushing water approaching, but that bothered her very little. Rosaline couldn’t drown, she had no need for air… or lungs for that matter so drowning would be impossible. Instead she was more worried about being trapped for the hall no longer continued on behind them. It had become a dead end, truly boxing them off with no escape. The water rushed forward, the cold and murky liquid already starting to pool around their feet. Rosaline looked at her companions, suddenly realizing what would happen if that water were to reach them… they’d drown. Suddenly, wanting to do something, Rose shifted where she was in front of the others, her arms spreading out before her. Energy, a wall of magic suddenly blocked the mass of water, keeping it at bay. Something was wrong though. It felt as if her magic, her powers, were weakening. Her eyes looked down at the water around her feet, it must be draining her. Suddenly a leak sprang in the wall of magic, water again pouring into the space with nowhere else to go. Another hole formed, then another, and then yet another until water was beginning to fill the ‘box’. Water was now making its way up to their waist, seeing as they couldn’t stand in the cramped space, and it was rising fast as the wall began to deteriorate. “We need to get out of here!!” she shouted. Ann was terrified, this was much worse than the wolves.

Blue eyes blinked up at the strange ceiling, their owner having just recently awoken. Nina’s tired mind didn’t recognize her surroundings, though a part of her deep down inside knew exactly where she was. A huff of air escaped her lips, the brunette turning over in the unfamiliar bed only to come face to face, metaphorically, with the most likely suspect for her new surroundings. Sitting on the pillow beside her, the item turned over, was the mask. It must have come off in her sleep… The woman sat up slowly before picking up the mask, her fingers noting the chill that overwhelmed her as she did so. “What did you get me into now?” she questions aloud. Nina hoped the mask would remind her, as it had done thousands of times before in what could be a similar situation. Icy fingers seemed to curl around her brain, awakening thoughts and memories that the mask had suppressed. Then, leaving the young woman as quickly as it had come, the mask released her. Oh, right. Nina had recently felt the need to find something, at least the side of her attached to the mask had. For the past month the woman had not once removed the item, it wouldn’t let her. She had searched, coming up with nothing to show for this ‘quest’… until last night. Nina had finally found it, a small shack in the middle of nowhere. Deep under the run down building though was a facility full of people, people who all had masks of their own. The woman sighed, standing quickly and walking over to her measly bag of supplies. Drawing out a fresh set of clothes and her hygienic necessities Nina readied herself for the day. Maybe afterwards she’d go explore this new place…
Rosaline did not like the sudden appearance of Marianne, but her words chilled her to the core. If Faira had not already chosen to defend the girl she knew she would have, children were a small weakness of hers. The nebula had been about to threaten the woman when the wolves, or at least that’s what she thought they were, appeared. Rosaline tensed, no longer paying any mind to the woman who had disappeared in a flash. Instead she focused on the wolf lunging for her. Her lithe frame moved quickly, preparing herself just in time for the wolf to leap upon her. Both forms went down but Rose had been ready for it. They landed, the girl shifting her weight so that she now hovered over the wolf with a dark look in her eyes. She was getting sick of this. SNAP! CRACK! With a single motion the wolf’s neck was broken, killing the creature quickly and easily. Rosaline didn’t even pause to check it was dead before standing, though when she kicked the creature aside it did not move so it was dead. Little Ann was terrified, her wide eyes taking in the dead carcasses before she once again latched onto Faira. “That was soooo scary!!!” she cried.

Name: Nina Simone Age: 24
Appearance: Nina is a thin figure, standing at 5’7 with very little muscle or meat on her bones. She almost looks frail, though this is nowhere near the case. Masked appearance: When the mask is put on Nina’s appearance drastically changes. Her hair becomes a mess of platinum blonde curls, reaching her ribs instead of her shoulders. The pale blue of her eyes become a vibrant red, peeking out behind the monochrome mask. Her usually tan skin pales to an almost ivory tone. Nina, while wearing the mask, usually wears black leather pants, silver tank-top, a leather jacket, and a pair of black combat boots. She often looks like she belongs in a black and white movie. She doesn’t always wear this; her usual outfit consists of clothes in monochrome hues. Mask Mask abilities:The mask itself has the ability to drive its wearer insane, or influence their darker side. The wearer though, if they can handle wearing it, becomes stronger, faster, and versed in ancient military tactics. Its true ability though is the ability to create weapons from shadows and to see the possible outcomes of encounters. Gender: Female Personality: Without the mask no one would ever believe Nina could hurt anyone. She’s a very timid, sweet, girl who- before she owned the mask- disliked seeing anyone in pain and would become nauseous when she saw blood. The only thing both sides, with and without the mask, agree on is their love for music and art. Masked Personality: Once the mask is on Nina’s face everything changes. Her sweet nature turns dark and sour, becoming a crazed sadist with a split personality disorder. One moment she is a tough, violent, bloodthirsty individual and then the next she is a bubbly, mad hatter-like nut-job. She does know when not to attack people though, and usually only kills those who she deems unfit for this world. Biography: Nina was raised by her mother for most of her life, her father having died when she was young. In truth she was there when he died, having been sitting in the seat next to him during the tragic car accident. When she was 19 Nina was studying abroad, a history major, and one day when she was in the city of Berlin she came across an old antique store. She went into the store and after scouring the many items she stumbled across the mask. It intruiged her, pulled her in, and against the clerks constant warnings and what she believed to be rumors, she bought it. Nina studied it, wanting to know the item’s history, and when she came across the stories of the previous owners she became curious. She put it on, laughing at the childishness, but when she finally removed it she knew it was true. Bit about the mask: The mask is made of thick, ancient, polished steel; originally forged from the melted remains of a sword. Unknown to the woman who asked for it to be crafted the sword originally belonged to a madman, one who used the blade to murder hundreds… though most were on the battle field. The mask, once completed, was only worn once by its original owner. She wore it to a gala but went insane shortly after, screaming and haunted by visions of those the sword had killed. The mask continued to pass from owner to owner, driving the weak completely mad and pushing some to the violence it once dwelled in. Most of its owners died young, or rotted away in some sort of cell.
