Is this still accepting, I wonder? I haven't seen anywhere that stated otherwise, so forgive me for putting this here;
Name: Shinra (prefers to be called Shin)
Age: 17
Class: Warrior
Power: Shin possess a strange, but powerful ability to copy, store, and exert "motion" or "force", from the cutting motion of a blade, to the hammering force of a fist. To copy a motion, it is necessary that he becomes acted upon by said motion and survive. He is able to exert this motion from any and all points throughout his body without needing to move a muscle. Because of this, he can free himself from any restraints put on him unless they're made of strong iron, or if he is knocked out. Some types of motion will also generally have a range relative to the original motion; the length of a sword, for instance (in this case, Shin would exert the motion from his arms to maximize its range). Only motion that proved itself mobile originally (such as a bull in headlong charge) can Shin exert at a greater range. Because the physical object is not there, it is probably impossible to break through the motion when it is exerted continuously, which is why Shin almost always uses his power only to defend himself. He fears the power, even if it has yet to harm his self from use.
Weakness: A naive young man, he is still unfamiliar with the rules of the battlefield in spite of his honest desire to help people. He has never intentionally killed anyone, and is unlikely to start doing so anytime soon. Expect him to spare lives whenever he can, and mistake a merely incapacitated enemy for a dead one. Because of his background as a non-fighter, he has less than stellar physical ability, from strength to speed. He'll depend on blocking more than dodging, and is much slower to react than everybody else. Even if his ability comes off as potentially limitless, he is still only scraping the surface of it all, and is only capable of little more than punting enemies and objects away and cutting like with a normal sword. His sword skills aren't exactly sharpened, either. Socially, he suffers from a tendency to want to help anyone he deems needing of it, and is especially protective of women (
The Dulcinea Effect). He is a little bit bashful, is overly kind, and tends to become attached quickly to people he meets, which has ended up hurting him before.
Background: In the beginning, a baby with a strange hair color was found by a troubled young woman in the husk of a wooden boat while she was walking along the beach one dawn. Wrapped in a set of clothing that were very fine to the touch, the young woman sold the beautiful cloth to a noble for a hefty sum of money, and was finally able to settle her own matters. Regarding the baby boy's discovery as a blessing, the young woman named him 'Shinra', which means 'divine silk', and took him in as her child. During those days, the land had yet to be embroiled by the terrors of war and the demons, so the boy was able to grow up on the good values taught to him by his mother and father, a young banker whom his mother had married in his second year. He lived a relatively normal childhood and was blessed with very little hardship (many thanks to his father's occupation), the only strange detail about him to be his golden hair. However his mother always regarded this as a sign that he was special, and wouldn't pass of letting her friends and neighbors know how she felt about it every time it came up in conversation. In all, his life was good up until war broke out when he was eight years old. Since that, his family is no longer around, and only remains a part of his life that Shin doesn't want to talk about. Skip forward a few years and Shin now worked as a cook and general worker in a restaurant in one of the more protected settlements at the age of fourteen, and he has been hiding a secret for the past two years. He continues to hide this secret from others where he lived, testing it out once in a while, but would continue regarding it as his greatest secret for the next three years. Out of a desire to explore this secret of his further and to help the less fortunate, Shin answers the call of a town in need. He has also heard that there's a possibility that a few others with special abilities would also be there...
Fun Fact: One notable trait of him is his insusceptibility to exceptionally strong consumables such as sake or wasabi. He's not sure if he's downed poison before, but it probably works the same way. Also, he has a phobia of rats, and is partly to thank for the restaurant that is known for being especially clean - all so he wouldn't have to encounter these filthy creatures.
...Yes, I know.
