Not to get all psychological, but some people are actually just 'wired' to take things people say literally. I'm like that to an extent, but I've learned that people here are usually just shitposting.

This bio will get reconstructed once I've left the site for good. I'll be collecting my data in the background for now, and sorting some loose ends. I'll be on and off to do it, so don't think I'm back if you see me around. Once I've dealt with everything, I'll log out properly and remove my 'ghost' status, and that'll be the last this site sees of me. This community is in serious need of growing up, and I'm not the least bit surprised that role-plays die here so frequently.

The 'Grim Reaper's Gambit' role-play is likely to reboot elsewhere eventually. The role-play will have some modifications, so contact me if you're curious since the original project won't accurately explain everything. There's no determined date for it to happen yet, since I've got other priorities and I'm not investing a lot of time in it until enough of the people interested have free time to properly commit (lack of dedication on the part of some players practically destroyed the previous version; it's very apparent it would've died even if I hadn't decided to leave). There's a group that're quite interested, but most of them are busy.

Anyway, come back later for an update later -- or don't; it's your life.

Yeah, pretty much what I was getting at before. Honestly though, from what I can tell it sounds like people who get 'Writer's Block' sometimes get it even if they've got all their usual muse options available to them. As stated previously, I don't have this problem myself. I can generally always post so long as I've got music and my PC's working, so long as I don't have notes to sort for what I'm writing that need to be dealt with before posting is even possible.

The only real exception is when I'm considering leaving a site, since I'm obviously not thinking about posting in a situation like that. With that said though, I'd still usually write my character out of the role-play in a realistic way instead of just disappear before doing so and leaving a role-play hanging.

With all that in mind, I really don't know what causes people to get 'Writer's Block'. I'd make the argument that the best method to 'solving' it would be to actually work out the 'causes' of it. Prevention is generally the best solution for most problems.

Anyway, off to have a nap now. I just saw this response and figured I'd get the thought that came to me out.

Since people don't always read back in the Discord channel, and frankly I don't trust it all that much in the first place, I'm sending you guys an update here.

Assuming that no more major PC breakdowns occur and I also manage to remember all the breadcrumbs in my memory that will allow me to recover the lost information (my work will never be recovered if I don't retain those breadcrumbs, so this is sort of one of those situations where if I don't recover it soon then it won't ever be recovered), I suspect it'll take roughly a week to get everything I lost a couple days ago back.

If things go according to that estimate, I still won't be able to change PC at that point, and I'll still have to do PC work in the background, but I should be able to manage this role-play more reliably once I don't need to invest all of my time in trying to remember everything that got lost.

Anyway, those thinking about second characters, or anyone who should be posting within the IC, should continue to work on/post those things up. If something important comes up that you're uncertain about, feel free to contact me. I'll still be on this site in the background in order to use the PM system to store things, and it's easy enough to get in contact with me through Ailyn. I won't be using the Discord channel much for now, because just having it up is straining a PC that's already having minor breakdowns from me trying to create a new folder on the desktop.

It does really seem as though music's the number one answer people have to solving it, even if in my case - as I stated previously, and therefore won't go into explaining again - I don't believe I actually experience this 'Writer's Block' that people seem to get, to the point that I honestly have trouble understanding what would cause it for people unless they had a situation similar to mine.

For all intents and purposes, most of the people in this thread who I've communicated with consistently have other places they contact me, so there hasn't been much of a point in maintaining the activity in this thread anymore.

The closest thing I ever get to 'Writer's Block' is when my workload (sorting my notes for my project) forces me to have to go through periods of time where I'm not actually able to do the writing part, in order to get back to a state where I'm on track. I don't think I've ever actually struggled to write up a post for a role-play (or for my own story, on the very rare occasions that note sorting isn't in the way) pretty much within moments of it being my turn to post, which is why my posts are usually up within an hour of it being my turn, even if I'm dealing with severe depression or off-site bullshit -- so long as my computer's functioning and there's nothing to sort in terms of notes or OOC discussion, I'm good.

So, honestly, I don't know what to recommend when people get 'Writer's Block' that's not caused by literally having circumstances force you to not be able to write. I do find that I need to listen to music in order to get into the mood to write, but I always listen to music while writing. I'd recommend that to anyone who actually can write with music on, because I know some people can't. Also, involving yourself in some form of media that helps you get into the mind state of the character might help too.
