Not to get all psychological, but some people are actually just 'wired' to take things people say literally. I'm like that to an extent, but I've learned that people here are usually just shitposting.

This bio will get reconstructed once I've left the site for good. I'll be collecting my data in the background for now, and sorting some loose ends. I'll be on and off to do it, so don't think I'm back if you see me around. Once I've dealt with everything, I'll log out properly and remove my 'ghost' status, and that'll be the last this site sees of me. This community is in serious need of growing up, and I'm not the least bit surprised that role-plays die here so frequently.

The 'Grim Reaper's Gambit' role-play is likely to reboot elsewhere eventually. The role-play will have some modifications, so contact me if you're curious since the original project won't accurately explain everything. There's no determined date for it to happen yet, since I've got other priorities and I'm not investing a lot of time in it until enough of the people interested have free time to properly commit (lack of dedication on the part of some players practically destroyed the previous version; it's very apparent it would've died even if I hadn't decided to leave). There's a group that're quite interested, but most of them are busy.

Anyway, come back later for an update later -- or don't; it's your life.

Just a quick heads up, Jace, in case you don't know (I've had to explain this to several people). 'Van' is his middle name, so his surname isn't 'van Bonaparte' or anything like that. I noticed, for the most part, you did refer to him as 'Bonaparte', but since I saw that one instance of 'Van Bonaparte' I figured it's worth making sure you knew this.

Status update:

  • Still waiting for Indra to finish his 'Private CS'. I'll be making a PM notification about it soon, because time's running out.

  • Lotus can respond to Henneth whenever, but sooner than later -- their interaction will decide how much of a time skip happens and when it happens.

  • In the very near future, the role-play will be moving to Chapter 2. A collaboration post between Leonard, Reinald, and Karlita will basically be the closing post for Chapter 1, and I'll open up the next part of the plot from that point through another post of my own. All posts involving actually reaching the estate should be held off until Chapter 2 happens. The collaboration might end up being multiple posts, so wait until I actually make a point that it's Chapter 2.

Status update:

  • Regarding Discord, my PC has just had another major breakdown, and once again it was clearly provoked by Discord. I've all but determined myself not to use that program at all -- you won't be seeing me clicking on any sort of link sent to me from it, at the very least, because those've consistently broken my browser each time. If I click on a link from somewhere like PM, or even another IM program, the browser can usually hold. Do it from Discord and it consistently explodes. You'll need to use PM to send things to me, and if they're not important enough to put in the effort for that then don't bother sending them at all. My PC might be a piece of shit, but Discord's making it worse.

    I don't want to have to put this role-play on hiatus again, so I'm severely limiting my use of that program. I truly can't explain how infuriated I am inside right now, so I'm disabling Discord's ability to automatically load things on my end, and I'll be leaving the program entirely if it causes one more breakdown. Frankly, if a role-play can't survive without Discord then it's better off dead anyway. Beyond the Discord issues, things with the role-play remain on schedule, but my mood will probably be worse for a while since I now have to 'recover a recovery' -- well, 'recover part of a recovery' anyway. I couldn't even get a fraction of my work recovered yet since the last time Discord fucked me over, and now I'm back to 'square one' again.

    If you need me for something, post here or through a PM -- worst case scenario, I'll jump onto Discord to discuss things with people when needed, but I won't be on it by default anymore. At the very least, I'll be limiting use of that program for the remaining time I'm forced to stay on this PC in order to salvage my work. If anything even remotely similar happens on my new PC while running Discord, I'll be getting rid of the program completely.

  • Discussion about the next few posts that need to happen took place on the Discord channel before it broke my browser down, and those posts will get worked out soon enough. Figured I'd make sure everyone knows about this. In case you actually want the details, the current posting order at this point's Lucia, then Henneth, then Lotus. Somewhere down the line the collaboration with Leonard, Reinald, and Kartlia will come up too. Since I'm tired of Discord messing up my browser, I need one of you two to send me our collaboration pad over PM.

On my end, I thankfully don't usually have that problem on any sort of level other than 'finding typos I have to fix because I'm a perfectionist' or 'being unhappy with the format of the writing style'. The problem I've got right now is the latter. Generally speaking, I don't dislike my actual writing itself, even if I'm always telling myself I can do better. I'm far more 'Grammar Nazi' on myself than on other people.

So you know, I'm basically getting rid of the italics used for thoughts, if I go through with this. They're pissing me off, because in my eyes it's weird to use italics for thoughts if you're also using italics to do things like this in your writing for emphasis. Whenever I see italics without the quotation marks, I often can't tell if it's meant to be third person dialogue (narrator) that has heavy emphasis, or first person internal dialogue (thoughts), because the whole point of quotation marks - in my eyes, anyway - is to separate a character from the narrator, and since I always specify who is speaking and whether it's speech or thought, it seems completely redundant to use italics, and just makes things needlessly confusing. For example, if I write an entire sentence of dialogue with emphasis, it'd be in italics -- that makes it impossible to distinguish from thought if I don't specify what it is.

Like I said, I'm a stickler for the details. I don't 'Nazi' other people's writing but I do it with my own.

I don't have too many IC posts on the site yet, considering I'm only in three relatively new role-plays. It's more irritating for me to look back at my old posts and see inconsistency then it is for me to spend thirty minutes (essentially how long it'll take, roughly) to edit them.
