When you go from walking around at 5am like a half shut knife to bouncing out your bed 10 minutes before the alarm goes off within a month of early starts at work. Self-improvement, ho!

Celebrating the one-month anniversary of my RP starting! 135 IC posts already and still growing. Also still accepting players, so hop on over if you are interested in gritty superheroes. All welcome!

How to know when your day as a home shopper will be busy - when your boss can't be arsed counting all the orders to pick so he logs the official total as 'mental' :-P

Best feelings as a GM #1 - Sitting at work cackling because a player has literally set up an amazing plot hook without realising it. *evil chuckle*

Bio

Well, where to begin?

I found my love of roleplays through a brief block of sessions of D&D when I screwed up enough and brought an class from an entirely different plane to join the main party. After following the plot to the end - which involved our dwarven pilot flying a gunship while simultaneously controlling 4 cannons by tying string around them - we ended up crashing through a portal onto a different plane. When attempting to formulate a plan, one of the PCs delivered a line that has stayed with me ever since.

"Ask the artificer, he's already done it once."

Since then, I've done a 3+ year RP between two players - using the FATE system - in which we created an entire city through creating mentally unstable characters and callus cold-blooded killers. One particularly nasty NPC came about by a sheer accident, when the melee-build character out-snarked the diplomat. Which was much more fun than it sounds. Had a bad experience with this site before, in which the GM didn't plan far enough ahead to include any NPCs whatsoever, and the other characters had no interest in Player-to-Player interactions outside of their own 2-man group. Needless to say, it died with incredible speed, which was a shame.

But I was tempted back by a friend to play a Pokemon RP despite having no knowledge whatsoever of the topic outside of Gen 1 stuff, and even that was years ago. Despite everything, I've not only been holding my own, but coming up with a completely separate sub-plot from the main plot, and making the GM's life a misery. (Sorry Zan!)

My writing style draws heavily from the likes of Worm and The Dresden Files, which means I can do a great deal of two things. Snark and Escalation. Outside of that, I like to think i'm a dynamic roleplayer, but I prefer sticking to High Fantasy sort of settings. Anything Slice of Life-y doesn't do it for me. Unless i'm slinging magic, psuedo-magic or demons (while snarking at whoever is unlucky enough to warrant it) I feel as though I could be doing something more entertaining with my time. When it comes to RP systems, I enjoy FATE or narrative based things.

My first RP which I am GMing on this site is themed around Dragon Age as carried on from the far superior (in my humble opinion) plot of the first game.

That's pretty much all there is to know about me that people would actually care about. I'll update it as I do with important changes or epic moments. Until then, feel free to PM me if you have questions or invites to stuff, and i'll respond as soon as I can. ^.^

Been joint playing and planning a Worm Rp between friends now for over 2 years. Some of the results have been beyond *anything* I could have ever possibly imagined, resulting in us building an entire infrastructure of original characters for 4 gangs, 2 vigilante groups and the entire Protectorate. Sickle-Cell was one of many of those characters. In our latest session, Sickle's vigilante group pulled off such a stupid stunt, we managed to detonate a quasi-nuclear device from a bomb tinker that makes Bakuda look like a kid with a rattle. The GM, coincidentally, is Ardent Dawn =P
And for those who haven't read it, that's but a sliver of the kind of stuff Worm manages. Read it, your life will be infinitely better =P
Glad to be here. Be careful outstretching your hand to people when around that Porygon, though =P
Laughter drifted up from a short distance away. Pure unadulterated laughter.

"I truly believed that coming to this little gathering wasn't going to be worth my time, but if that is all I get to witness here, it warranted the detour." Tantalus walked slowly into view, followed by a Mawile sticking close to his heel. The tension in the air was thick, and it wouldn't take much to ignite the fuse. Two outcomes lay before him. Trying to calm the situation down would ensure that people had the wrong impression of him to start with, exactly as always planned. On the other hand...

Deliberately inciting a fight is likely very possible. Avatar battles are always big, and this shouldn't be any different. How many people would get hurt? How badly would the Avatars be injured? Bad enough that they might need me? Thoughts whirling through his mind, Tantalus flashed a grin.

Heads or tails? He fired the question to Apate - telepathically - who lurked, slightly agitated behind him.

Tails. The Mawile replied, eyeing him with a small sigh.

Damn. Tails was peaceful, but I suppose it's for the best. We'll do this your way, for now. The Mawile's stance relaxed, ever so slightly. Tantalus replied with a shrug, and stepped forward towards the group. Head held high, he stretched his hand out in an open invitation. "Tantalus Swain, Avatar of Xerneas, Healer, Traveler and purveyor of various wonders. A pleasure to meet so many of my kind in one place."
Name: Tantalus Swain

Pokemon: Xerneas

Gender: Male

Age: 23

Hometown: Canalave City, Sinnoh Region

Ability: Fairy Aura

Moves: Aurora Beam, Flash Cannon, Geomancy, Aromatherapy, Light Screen, Moonblast

Most anything an be fixed with enough time, although some things are beyond even the power he possesses. A secondary bonus of this power, is that Tantalus rarely needs to eat, as the power he possesses replaces nutrients gained when eating. When using his power for a long time or in rapid succession, the result is bouts of weakness and fatigue, which he find extremely degrading. To recover, Tantalus is often forced take a large quantity of food, which is even worse in his eyes. The effect is most notable when healing himself several times within a short period as he would never even dream of pushing his own limits as hard for anyone else.

Held item: Life Orb

Appearance:

Personality: A cruel and sadistic streak dominates Tantalus’ personality, although you wouldn’t know it at a glance. An outward facade covers the true intentions he holds deep in his heart, worn like a suit to further his own goals. Tantalus comes across as a friendly, energetic person, who heals people in need for an assuredly modest fee. When his mood is sullied by arrogance, ignorance, or anything else that pushes his buttons, Tantalus will happily set aside his useful persona, revealing the contempt and casual cruelty underneath, not hesitating to level threats at anything he believes is ‘unworthy’ of life itself. He views himself as a custodian of the world, with the right to decide one way or the other who can and cannot live. Those he takes an extreme interest in will find themselves being pursued, with Tantalus attempting to recruit them into the fold of his scattered followers by whatever means necessary.

Backstory: Surrounded in luxuries of all description, Tantalus began life in an expansive manor in the affluent Canalave City alongside his parents. He lived with the best of everything, and acquired quite the taste for it. A god complex developed, deep within him. This was all well and good, until his family began to slip into debt. Within 6 months of enjoying boundless wealth, he found himself homeless, kicked out into the streets, his social status demoted to less that the rats in the sewers. The only living thing that would give him the time of day was his Mawile. Despite this setback, he swore that this wasn’t going to be the end, proclaiming himself the King of Dust. 6 Years past, and yet he was unable to escape the rut that had seized hold. Arceus eventually chose the now 20-year old Tantalus as a vessel for the great Xerneas, believing that given the power to rise from the dirt would set him on a new path.

How wrong was he?

After gaining the godly power of the legendary pokemon, Tantalus instantly began to recreate his old life, wandering the world to seek people worst hit by the plague, other epidemics, or natural disasters of any shape and form. He would go to where the people most needed him, and when there, would charge a ‘modest’ fee for his services. Continuing like this, Tantalus came to the conclusion that having money and wondrous treasures was not all that he desired. He craved reverence. The power of a god now lay within him, so why should he be treated as a mere mortal, no matter how high class. So he took to wandering once more, this time not seeking riches, but devotion, creating a fanatical cult in his own name. Healing people with deadly toxins just enough for them to feel better in exchange for them serving him, ensuring they were dependant on him. Making dark alley deals with the people others wouldn’t go near. Having people who relied on him.
A cabal of people absolutely dedicated to him alone.

That is what it means to be a god.

Not a problem, will add some physical exhaustion to the mix, then copy him over. I hope people do get into crazy situations, all the better for me to leverage them ^.^

You would expect so. =P

Seems slightly strange to start without them.
I'll get something else for Carson up soon, thinking of possible ways to go xD
Anatiel

The wind whispered gently through the trees, filling the evening air with a gentle rustle. The sound that accompanied the rustle was somehow wrong, though. Somehow… artificial.

It wasn’t just leaves.

It was paper.

Anatiel landed softly on the rooftops overlooking the young courier, a flock of origami birds easing her descent as they encircled her body. Travelling exposed like this was far too dangerous for her tastes. She hadn’t found an opportunity to obtain another Marionette for the hunt without drawing attention to herself, so here she stood, true form concealed only by the wings of a dove.

Where had that stooge escaped to with her Marionette?

She spotted her quarry lying sprawled at the feet of a Doll; that much was obvious from the makeshift vines erupting besides her. So the blond-haired shrimp was her Doll Master, was he? Could they possibly conceive of the retribution they had denied to her?

With a vicious hiss, she allowed her composure to settle marginally - thin lacerations covered her body where the wings of her irate flock had cut too deep. The flesh wounds sealed over within moments, leaving only a knot of vindictive fury in her stomach.

“Hey, you! Doll Master!” she called across the roofs. “Your pitbull there just chewed on my game! Depriving me of sport and pleasure, without so much as a by-your-leave!”

“I’ll give you two options - you can either offer yourselves as poor replacement, or you let me reclaim my property and continue with my affairs. I’d prefer the latter, personally. I don’t have enough spare time to bother with clearing up the stains.”
