Note: Because this is an interest check, everything here is subject to change. I haven't really proofread this yet, but I will do so in the coming days. I'm just a really impatient person and wanted to see if people were interested... NOW! xD
Immortal RealmsSet in a universe forged collectively by its Gods, Immortal Realm is an adventure about eight mortals who find themselves trapped in the realms beyond the dead, where no living should ever stand. The mortal realm is filled with religious zealots who believe that their God will offer them redemption upon their death, and scorns upon those who do not worship them. It is indeed true that upon death, their soul will be transferred to the God whom they worshiped, and their fate will forever be locked to their realm. A man who worships the God of Death, for example, will end up in the Realm of Death. Our mere mortals, who each worship one of the eight gods, will find themselves stuck within these realms before their time. Then, they will now have to fight for not just the lives, but also their very existence as the Gods actively seek to destroy them. It is said that no mortal can ever enter the immortal realms for else the imprisoned will soon escape. It remains a mystery whom the imprisoned is, but this forebodes danger for the universe itself…
Welcome to the Role-Play!In this role-play, I am hoping to get at eight people (including me), but no more than that. I am willing to compromise if this is not possible, which I believe likely to be the case. Each of us will take the role of a religious zealot from one of the eight religions. Once a religion has been taken, you will have to use another. Hence, I want eight people :D -The GM will be myself, which means I can choose to reject characters, or make small changes to people’s post for the stake of consistency. Usually though, I’ll try and leave them be. I have purposefully set this RP in a world that has not yet been fully developed to allow for creativity on all ends. For example, I’ve only developed one city in the mortal realm, which is the location of my character’s upbringing. I can introduce more locations as needed, as can the others who are roleplaying. If you want your character to be a wealthy merchant from a desert city with fountains that flow with water, then go ahead. Do you want your character to be an explorer of ancient, forgotten ruins filled with secrets? That’s allowed too. Almost anything is possible unless it goes against one of my few rules.
Rules1. Your character must be from one of the eight religions.
2. Only one role-player per religion
3. Keep it PG 13+!
4. Everything you create is canon, so long as it does not contradict with content already posted. If it does, I am obliged to change it unless it is nothing important.
5. Our characters are either humans, or they resemble humans. Regardless, everyone has a human life form. (If you are an elf, you don’t live for a thousand years.) (None of us are Orcs- but we could be Human, Drawf, Elf, Halflings etc- for they are pretty much human)
6. You may god-play other people’s characters (control them in your post), but the owner of that characters has every right to reject it. If he chooses to reject it, the post will be ignored unless the appropriate change has been made.
7. If you cannot post for a while, or you wish to leave the role-play please let me know in advance. If its simply a temporarily absence, we can organize for something to separate your party from the main group. If you are leaving the role-play altogether, we can either find a way to finish his story or even kill him off.
The Religions/ClassesEach religion is like a class in their own right. The religion is named after its God. It is easy to identify which religion another is a part of and very difficult to hide. (By the way, I’m taking Obitsum)
Note: In each religion, assume women are equal to men unless otherwise specified)
Obitsum (Obi-tea-zum): Those who worship the God of Death, Obitsu (Obi-Tea-Zu). The members of this religion are fanatical assassins, and are devious and cunning, relying on trickery and so can never be trusted. Once another has been target, then they are doomed, for an Obitsu will stalk their prey in the shadows as just another face in the crowd, and then strike when the moment is opportune. They will do it in plain sight, so that all can witness their deed, but then disappear back again into the crowd, leaving traps in their wake should anyone pursue them. They are silent; they are deadly and devoutly sincere. To them, life is just a journey to death, and so they do not fear but in fact, welcome it. When killing, they believe they are merely helping the body’s soul find its way into the next world. In this religion, men and women are equal.
Religion’s Class: Assassin
Bellatism (Bell-ate-tism): Those who worship the God of Battle and War, Bellator (Bell-ate-tor). The members of this religion believe themselves to be honourable and virtuous. They are skilled warriors, living only for the excitement of battle in servitude to their God. They will never back away from a battle, even if it should mean their death, or else they will be labelled a coward. For a man who cannot fight is hardly a man at all, and will be excommunicated if he is revealed to be a coward. They pride honour above all things, even their own life, so they will never attack an opponent unaware for to them, that is unfair. The females of this religion are well… your typical 50’s housewife.
Religion’s Class: Fighter
Herbasin (Her-baa-sin): Those who worship the Goddess of Plants, Herba. The members of this religion believe that plant life is superior to animal life (including themselves) and therefore must be preserved and worshipped above all things. They are purely carnivores and cannibals. Generally, they are hunters of other species, but if no food can be found they will not hesitate to eat each other. They are barbaric and primitive. Their warriors are axe-wielding and have speed that enables them to chase down cheetahs. They are highly feared warriors. Bellators believe that they are the most dangerous of all mankind, for they completely lack honour and regard for animal (humans are animals) life. Men and Women are equal in this religion. (Women, are perhaps, a little superior)
Religion’s Class: Barbarians
Beastism (Beast-tism): Those who worship the Goddess of Animals, Beastia. The members of this religion believe that all animal life-forms are equal and so, unlike other people, do not believe that humans are superior. In fact, they reject social customs, embracing their truly animalistic instincts and desires. They do not wear clothes and they do not believe in love. They live among animals, respecting all animal life. They are purely vegetarians. In contrast to Herbasin, they are far more sympathetic and respectful. They are simply animals as well. They fight without weapon, and have claws and teeth that are sharp like a tiger’s. They also have the ability to control animals.
Religion’s Class: They fight like an animal (you can choose from any animal you wish your character to mimic). They also can control animals.
Tempism: Those who worship the God of Time, Tempus. The members of this religion believe that life itself is unimportant in the grace of time. For it is time, they say, that creates us and it is time that ultimately brings about our end. No living thing can stop the flow of time, so instead of fighting it, why not embrace it and join the master of time himself? Members of this religion tend to be devious and cunning, much like those who worship Obitstu. There isn’t much culture involved with this religion, only their devout worship. Members of this religion develop telepathic abilities, in which they can send messages into the minds of others, and read their thoughts. Furtheremore, they can manipulate their thoughts and they can distort their sense of time. The more powerful among them, are considered to be able to manipulate time itself. Of course, this isn’t true, what they are actually doing is manipulating everyone else’s sense of time.
Class: Time Wizard
Scientism (Shen-tism): Those who worship the Goddess of Knowledge, Scientia (Shen-tia). The members of this religion believe in the philosophy of mind over matter. In other words, the mind is more powerful and more important than the body. They live purely for the pursuit of knowledge, and so often becomes scribes and the like. Like Tempist, they have a kind of telepathic ability, but instead of reading the minds of others, and manipulating them, they shield them. They aren’t warriors, but protectors and they defend not only the minds of others, but also their physical body. A blade is about to pierce his heart? Strengthen his heart until it is like stone. They are also the perfect counter to a Tempist. When they are manipulating the minds of others, the Scientist will protect those minds. Thus, the two have become mortal enemies.
Class: Protector
Chausim (Chay-ism): Those who worship the God of Chaos, Chaus. The members of this religion are rebels and pioneers of change. They despise things that are static, and constantly fight to oppose order. Their ultimate goal is a world in which there is only chaos and disorder, and therefore a world that is ever-changing. In this sense, they are neither left nor right wing, but seem to switch between the two when the politics are imbalanced. In other words, if the society that they are among is predominately right wing, then they will appear to be left wing, but only for the stake of change. They are extremely diplomatic and adept at lying. In battle, they are wield bows that shoot arrows that can catch fire or even turn icy cold.
Class: Archer
Caritasim (Car-ree-ta-sim): Those who worship the Goddess of Love. The members of this religion are advocates of peace, love and freedom. They oppose hate, oppression, repression, discrimination and racism. Of all the eight religions, the members of this religion are the only ones who do not discriminate in some form. They have a special kind of magic that enables them to heal both physical and mental wound.
Class: Healer.
