Name: Masahiro Karetsu
Age: 14
Gender: Male
Rank: Genin
Appearance:Personality: Masahiro is a kind and thoughtful young man. He is polite and courteous in conversation, and often goes out of his way to find out about and help people with their problems. As a teammate, he is often first to volunteer for the hardest of tasks, and works hard to make himself useful. He is a firm believer in practise making perfect, and diligently trains to make his techniques best of all, and would gladly volunteer to aid another in developing their own abilities.
Or so he is keen for people to believe. The truth of the matter is that Masahiro is far more selfish than one might guess. Friends are a means to an end to him, and helping them is only for the purpose of using them for his own pursuits. He is not a cruel person, but in the face of a truly dire situation, Masahiro would look out for number 1. So long as he can be of help without being too personally strainged, Masahiro is all too eager to be of use, but else his 'friends' would soon find he's less dedicated than they might've thought.
His personal motivation is to live an accomplished life by means of his unique talents. His mother was the one who taught him how to work with people to get that which he wanted, and shortly before she left Masahiro's life for good, she told him to live a better life than her own. And so Masahiro works towards one day evaluating his own accomplishments against those of his father. Which is less difficult than one would imagine, but it is Masahiro's goal in any case.
Village: Kumogakure
History/Background: Masahiro was mainly raised by his father. When he was around the age of 5, his father told him his mother was a good-for-nothing that had only hung around him long enough to squeeze out a child and then left after the fact, taking a good portion of his money with her. His father tried his best to provide for him, and while never leaving Masahiro in want of anything, he was never the best person for dealing with children. Masahiro was mostly left alone, outside of his studies at the academy.
This changed when he turned 7, and suddenly his mother reappeared in his life. His father was livid when she first returned, going to every effort to chase her away and keep her from Masahiro. But she found a way around it all, and managed to communicate with Masahiro. After about a year of sneaking out of the house to spend time with his mother, he came to form a proper bond with her. Seeing the good she was finally doing, Masahiro's father relented and promised not to get between the two of them.
His mother truly was a breath of fresh air compared to his father. Masahiro still remembers her as a fun loving woman that was more than happy to take him to all sorts of places his father never would. Some his father even outright forbid him from going to, but that wasn't something he ever felt the need to relate to him. Masahiro noticed on their many outings that his mother had a talent for talking to people and making them very agreeable. It seemed to him as though she could talk them into anything. He once asked her how she found it so easy to make friends. She found something quite amusing about what he just asked, but told her 'secret' anyway. She told him it was really rather simple; all you had to do was listen carefully when people spoke, and figure out how best to respond so as to make them believe you were speaking sincerely. From that day, she started giving Masahiro a number of lessons on how to gain people's confidence. Subtle methods with no real technique behind them as well as one jutsu that helped seal the deal.
When Masahiro turned 10, his mother came to visit him in his room, having come in through the window somewhat unexpectedly. Though Masahiro didn't realise it at the time, she was speaking as though it was the last time they would ever see each other. She gave him a scarf she had gotten from somewhere as a gift, and told him to "live a better life than (she) did". After she left, the next time Masahiro saw her was when she was being taken out of the village in chains. He asked his father what had happened, and he told him rather plainly that his mother's past as a con artist and thief and caught up to her. He even went so far as to claim it was her just desserts for the life she had left. Suffice to say, Masahiro retreated to his room to sulk for a good long while after that.
But his mood didn't last as long as one might've expected. Soon enough, Masahiro returned to his regular routine as though nothing had ever happened. He passed the exams at the academy and entered into the life of a Genin. His relationship with his father never improved, but so long as Masahiro seemed fine enough, his father tended to keep his distance. Now, Masahiro is simply intending to follow the path set out for him and get the most out of his experience.
Tools: Name: Sakuran ScarfDescription: Masahiro's mother's parting gift to him. The scarf is inscribed with a seal that gives off an unnatural chakra signature. While this would usually be completely innocuous to anyone else, chakra sensing techniques and dojutsu are thrown off by the scarf, finding it difficult to focus on anything but said scarf when in full use.
