Derrick continued on with more useless thoughts in his mind, such as how his family was doing, or if Morris had partaken in another failed attempt at going out with Officer Jenny, or how many more people were gonna give him strange looks. He definitely needed to do something about that scowl of his... maybe he should talk more or at least sound more cheerful? The thoughts kept mulling around his head until the group finally reached the bungalows.
"Huh... nice place." Derrick thought as he waited for the Rangers to set up. Suddenly, he felt something hit him on his back, causing him to take another step forward and almost lose his balance. When he turned around, Derrick found the quiet girl he noted from earlier on the ground trying to pick up the scattered items that fell from her bag. At first, he stepped over to help her but could barely utter a word out of hesitation. He gave up on the idea, as the Rangers called everyone to line up.
The first ranger, an extremely shy girl who seemed about as experienced as the new recruits, began reading off names before being cut off by a black haired girl with a annoyed look on her eyes. "She seems... familiar... was she that one chick from music group...?" Derrick thought as he waited for his name to be called out. He was unsurprised when he found himself put in the last group with Rena and Regan. "Rena AND Regan. How convienient and unfortunate for me."
Gathering together with his group, his first impressions of Regan, given her calm and composed demeanor, and Rena, who's eagerness shown when chatting with Noah, made Derrick feel slightly better. From what he noted, his partners were ready, willing and most likely experienced. How was he gonna match up to them?
When he heard Regan introduce herself, Derrick nodded and followed up. "Nice to meet you as well... my name is Derrick." He attempted a smile but immediately went back to scowling, since it felt uncomfortable and probably stupid looking on him. Turning to Rena, he continued, "So that means you're Rena, right? You both have some pretty similar names."
