The guy Jordan landed on seemed nonplussed at being run over and even grinned when she offered her hand.
“I’m hot. People throw themselves at me all the time. Usually not literally though…” Jordan chuckled at the cute joke and averted her eyes, shyness kicking in. She was already embarrassed and now this Adam guy was too cool headed for her. He was able to defuse the situation like it was nothing. He even promised to call her later, wink and finger guns included. Others might've found that silly, but she found it confident. Corny, but smooth. Jordan only mumbled another apology and thanks before he turned back to his friends to discuss their steps for the treasure hunt. Right, I still need to figure out my direction for that myself. Wonder if they'll let me piggy back off them…
"I just saw you fall, are you ok? You had a pretty nasty drop from your Tropius." Another classmate rounded the crowd, concern in his tone. Taller with reddish brown bushy hair, familiar. "Oh hey. Jordan right? I think we have advanced Pokemon Bio with Professor Jacq?" It clicked and she uttered a quiet oh recognizing Harry, and nodded her thanks at his attention. Adam also seemed to notice him arrive, a subtle look shared between them.
"Oh, are you alright too, Adam? Of course, I'm sure it'd take more than that to injure that hard head of yours?" The snark was evident, though maybe not intentional. Jordan cringed internally. The tension was building and it was starting to make her a little anxious, she could feel the emotion like a cool breeze over the crowd. Confrontation was never her strong suit. Fortunately, a distraction came to her in the form of a pink little Cutiefly.
“Hey there buddy, where’s your trainer? Are you lost?” Wait, Jordan recognized this Pokémon from earlier. “Where’s Sam?” she asked, wondering what the little fairy was doing separated from him. Perhaps Sam would want to travel with someone for the treasure hunt or one of these other classmates hanging around would have a good starting point in mind.
"Sounds like it's time to meet for the announcement! Want to sit with me?" Jordan asks, all enthusiasm and bubbling anticipation. She heads off for a good seat before waiting on a response, near the front to listen intently. It was a bit dry, but to be expected from the esteemed Director Clavell of Papas Academy. She genuinely felt privileged to be a student here, excited to take to the skies and learn about the unique breeding methods to Paldea.
As they were released, a wave of students pushed to the exit and Jordan hurried that way herself. Adrenaline started pumping and excitement all but contained. There was no goal or destination in mind, but she knew she had to move in a direction and the rest would figure itself out. Once just outside the entrance to the school, she released AJ and climbed up his neck to get a better view. The rush she got seeing her fellow classmates all embarking on a journey, together and individual, was all encompassing.
Sweeping her gaze, she spotted Sam from earlier this morning. She grinned wide and took in a breath. "Hey, Sam!!" She shouted and waved from atop the neck of her Tropius and laughed at his reaction. Swinging back down to the ground, she spun and instead of hitting the floor she landed on another student with a grunt. She sprawled on the pavement and gasped with embarrassment.
"Ohhh my Arceus, I am so so sorry!" Jordan started apologizing profusely before even standing up, AJ nudging her to assist. She held a hand outstretched to the student she accidently decked. "Look, if there's anything I can do to make it up to you, please let me know I am such an idiot sometimes, not looking where I'm going," she laughed, nervous and awkward, red creeping into her cheeks and ears. "Jordan Staar, and please, anything I could do let me know and here, I'll give you my number." She fumbled about her bag and groaned internally. What a way to make a first impression.
"Hey Sam, I'm Jordan and this is AJ and Aguacita," she said, pointing at the Tropius and Wattrel respectively for introuctions. "Nice to meet you." She smiled and clapped her hands together, "I tend to do a quick set of dynamic stretches to warm up the body and wake up a bit for the day. Don't push yourself or try to stretch further than you feel comfortable, we don't want to drag the nurse out here. So, first is easy; just some arm swings." Jordan lifted her arms and swung them across her body, slowly at first to see if Sam followed suit. He was a bit uncanny, but polite and seemed open to new things, even if he was a little off putting about it. He moved slowly, maybe even too slow to even feel a stretch, but Jordan decided he was moving at least and that would suffice for an impromptu morning workout buddy.
"Cool! You should feel it in your upper arms and shoulder going out, and your back going in." She stopped after maybe a dozen reps and sighed in content. "Moving on, leg swings are great for hips and hamstrings, but we need something to balance with. AJ?" She motioned to him and the Tropius lowered his neck at waist height. Jordan used her left arm to balance while swinging her left leg forwards and backwards. "We can also go across," she said, breathy from exertion, "but it's a bit trickier to balance so we'll stick to simple." She only glanced once at Sam with an encouraging smile, her classmate giving AJ a careful stare. Jordan knew AJ was a gentle giant and she loved him for it.
"Nice, looks like you're getting the hang of it. I'm skipping a few of them, but if you want the whole routine we could meet up again some other morning. Anyway, on to the next." She walked him through a handful more stretches. It felt like he didn't really feel interested so she didn't want to bore him or make him any more uncomfortable than he already was. Really, who walks up to a random classmate and asks to do stretching with them before class? Weird people, that's who. Though her negtive thoughts were disheartening, she put on a smile and sighs at the end of the shortened routine.
"Now that's how you start a morning. Oh! And last but not least, Tropius fruit is a national delicacy in Hoenn, or so I tell myself." She chuckled while gently plucking a pair of yellow fruits from her Pokémon. "Want to try one?" She offered one to him before taking a bite of her own.
"Thanks," he nodded and accepted the fruit, breaking off a tiny piece to offer to his Cutiefly perched on his head "It's sweet. It’s not bad." Jordan did a silent celebration in her head. That might be the most she would get out of her stoic companion this morning so she chalked it up as a win.
Though she hadn't been here long, Jordan was already starting to develop a routine at Papas Academy. It began with literally rolling out of bed. Then she would spruce up in the bathroom, change into acceptable clothing for being in public, and zombie-walk to the schoolyard. There she would be able to get AJ and Aguacita out of their balls for a mourning stretch and fly to wake up. Of course, this all happened at a snail's pace and as late as humanly possible. Morning classes were a drag, but she wanted to attend all the best classes she could which would necessitate some sacrifice. With other students meandering the yard she could gradually wake up in the warm outdoors with her companions close by. She released the duo as soon as she was out the door.
"AJ, care to hook me up with a fruit?" she asked from her Tropius. He cooed and shook out his wings before lowering his neck. Her Wattrel leapt and flew lazy circles around the pair as they trudged across the yard looking for a quiet space. By the gardens, Jordan spotted a cozy place by the flowers to start her day, but as she rounded the bushy flora, a hidden student startled her.
"Oh, buenos días, sorry if I'm invading your space. I was just looking for someplace out of the way to do some stretching before class. Care to join me? I'll find another spot if you'd prefer though, I'm not a morning person myself so I understand." She smiles at the boy in long black hair, much taller than herself. If he was open to her company, she would totally offer him some of AJ's fruit too; she loved to see the reaction of new people when they tasted it for the first time.
"I want to fly high to the stars, almost like I was born to join them!"
Full Name: Jordan Staar
Age: 16
Favorite Color: Yellow
Favorite Subject: Biology
Favorite Teacher: Mr. Saguaro
Appearance: Jordan stands in just above five feet tall with a slight, lean build. Her skin is deceivingly light during cold months as it turns six shades darker after being outdoors regularly in the warm and sunny months. Along the back of her left calf is a small burn scar. Her thin, brunette hair is cropped short, sometimes in a ponytail, and her bangs are spiky and windswept. Chocolate colored eyes are set in a boxy face with thick eyebrows and a petite nose. A wide mouth and slight underbite complete the look.
As for fashion, Jordan takes a practical approach with sporty clothing in layers. She often has a hoodie or jacket around her waist in case she wants to go for a fly along with a set of goggles to protect her eyes. Comfortable gloves are a must too since her fingers tend to get cold even on a warm day. Even though she isn't fond of her facial structure, she refuses makeup as she finds it insincere. Other accessories like jewelry she sees as a burden. The uniform annoys her as being restrictive so she often has sporty underclothes and changes as soon as possible.
Personality: Jordan is an energetic and outgoing person. Though mornings are tough, she quickly gains enthusiasm for the day and is excited to join the people around her. Her emotional intelligence is high, quickly attuning to those around her and bouncing off the energy other people bring. Unfortunately, her academic intelligence suffers so she struggles to pass classes she holds no interest in, likely some minor and undiagnosed learning disability. She has quick wit and even did theater back at school in Hoenn, always eager to put a smile on the faces of those around her, usually well known in any community she's a part of. She's also a little gremlin that has a unique sense of humor and loves to tease and prank given a willing target.
On the other side of things, she has problems processing her own emotions and expectations. As a strongly empathetic person, she can struggle to differentiate between her feelings and those of people around her. Being bad at explaining herself has also led her to closing up to others about her troubles. Jordan will bottle up her emotions over time until she's overwhelmed and bursts. Some of her insecurities include her boyish appearance, her fear of fire, and any time she feels she failed to help a friend. She holds herself to a high standard and beats herself up for falling short. When she fails at something enough, her temper can flare up, but always aimed at herself.
Backstory: Jordan grew up in Fortree City, Hoenn as an only child to a Pokemon Ranger father and stay-at-home mother. She was homeschooled from a young age, but attended public school once she was five years old. There she made an impression as a good friend to everyone, all smiles and rainbows. Unfortunately, she had trouble getting close to any one friend group and tended to flit about the edges of many friend circles instead. She learned from a young age that trying to bond with others would make them feel uncomfortable, though through no fault of her own. Jordan simply expressed herself in a unique way and never found the right people to support that outside her family, leading her to hide her problems around others while staying a fun person to be around. Still, she thrived in the unique city climbing trees and encountering a huge cast of wild Pokemon day in and out. The family had a Tropius, named Albert, she would play with and take on short flights with mom or dad. Her classmates would call her the Kecleon of their grade, as a compliment, for her ability to simply blend into the emotions of people around her. Life was good for a time.
At the age of fourteen, Fortree City was caught ablaze in the night. Jordan's father was on patrol that night and already fighting the flames. Mom and daughter were trying to work their way to the ground, but to no avail. Albert came to their rescue, but returned to the town on fire to help more citizens. Winona did her part too as the gym leader and at the end of the night, she delivered the news that Albert had not made it through the night. Instead, she passed on a small egg they found around the remains of their house. Jordan treasured that egg over the months when the family temporarily relocated to Paldea to be with her grandparents. She was mostly inconsolable during that time, even glum when they were able to return to Fortree, but after a young Tropius hatched from the egg life started to look up again.
Jordan and the Tropius, Albert Junior, bonded immediately. The two did everything together and an interest in Pokemon breeding was sparked for Jordan. She started to get into flying sports, looking up to her local gym leader, and she wanted to go to a school that could help her learn more about breeding between Pokemon. Her parents suggested Papas Academy, where her grandparents were close by in Los Platos. Though it took some time to get her grades up to par, Jordan was determined and got accepted a year later. She's looking forward to the treasure hunt, an opportunity to explore the region and perhaps adventure into herself and explore what she truly wants.

I'm interested in joining as well! Caveat, I haven't finished the game yet but don't mind if anything involves spoilers. Would I be able to reserve Flying type? Thank you!
Hello everyone! I'm new to the site but not new to roleplaying. I started over ten years ago and ate up the RP scene at the time, really igniting the spark for a love of writing. Life got busy, I stopped for a long time, but I'm looking to jump in again though maybe slowly as I figure out writing in my new pace of life. Looking forward to meeting others and joining in some fun games!
