As Atone pressed forward despite his injury to engage his next opponent he heard an enchanting voice call out to him over the sounds of battle.
"Be not afraid! You're not alone!"
Immediately after he heard those words a sensation of warmth washed over his body as he felt the pain from his wound fade and then vanish completely. His first thought after such an occurrence was that of divine intervention. Surely such a beautiful voice would belong to an angel and as a servant of the gods he was never truly alone. Spurred on by the belief that he had received direct assistance from the gods he rushed forward with renewed vigor.
Just as Atone closed in on the sleeping stirge another man beat him to it. With a single mighty thrust from his spear the stranger missed the creature entirely. However, this failed attack did give Atone pause and he remembered that there had been someone else near him before. He turned around and saw the man that had also intervened in the bar fight from earlier lying on the floor and mortally wounded. Atone's initial plan had been to finish off this other flying creature and then head for the troll, but his duty was the defense of the innocent, not seeking glory. The troll would have to wait.
Leaving the sleeping creature to the fellow with the spear, Atone charged the stirge that had incapacitated the druid with vengeful intent and swung his blade.

Atone was unable to enter the fight as soon as he would have liked. He had gotten caught up in the panic-stricken crowd that was fleeing the tavern and only now was he free to move. Before he could make his way towards the troll, however, one of the flying creatures swooped down to make a meal out of him. Atone cried out in pain and then swung his longsword at the creature in retaliation. Once the creature was dealt with Atone stepped forward to engage the flying creature attacking Durnan.
