Government and politics:
-General description of Government and Politics: IT is a massive megacorporation, and arranged as such, with major stockholders holding sway over the Board of Directors, who then grant CEO leadership positions to subordinates. While in theory a democratic system, with each stock a person holds being worth a vote, the "Tycoons" who run the Board of Directors retain several million stocks. Effectively making the IT an oligopoly of the rich and powerful, or most influential.
-Government Spending- High, as the nation is synonymous with the corporation that is IT.

-Branches-
-Equipment-
In general, IT and its mercenary subcontractors have off-the-shelf level hardware and equipment. While not cutting-edge gear or on par with advanced military tech, IT-affiliated mercs have reliable and well proven equipment, as well as economical to locally manufacture and maintain without exotic materials or skills required. Cutting down on expensive imported hardware from the core worlds, besides advanced ship hulls.
Most corporate navy ships are either armed merchant and explorer ships, or security and patrol ships meant to fight pirates and protect corporate assets. Force projection is limited and mostly defensive oriented, except for a few wide-ranging assets like Styker's Freelancers. Majority of their capital ships are carriers meant to haul troops and fighters for planetary ops, not engage in direct space combat, although they retain onboard missiles and laser turrets.
-Generalized description-
IT-Security
The main IT private security forces consist of a small corps of highly-trained corporate operatives, supplemented by security and combat mercenary units hired by Interstellar Trust. Their space navy is built around a block of carriers supported by patrol corvettes and destroyers largely meant for system defense and anti-piracy ops.
Notable Mercenary Units:
Steelhead Security: One of the largest mercenary companies spanning human space, Steelhead Security has been a long-standing high-intensity security contractor for IT, and it took little convincing for them to set up a sizable local subdivision in the Columbus sector. While modestly equipped, they specialize in combined arms and mass-mobilization at affordable prices on the ground, while utilizing a sizable armed merchant and explorer-cruiser fleet in space.
Investment Recovery Service Inc: For times when IT-Columbus requires a more heavy-handed means to secure its assets and guarantee investment recovery from noncompliant clients, they turn to the IRS. A heavy merc company, favoring medium mechs, tanks, and close air support gunships, they are a considerable asset when forcing contract compliance or ensuring asset security. However most of their experience has been in small-scale security ops. Full-scale war is not in their docket as of yet.
Styker's Freelancers: A more oddball unit recruited by IT-Columbus, Freelancer Styker commands a personal heavy battlecruiser with a brigade of elite high-mobility mercs paired with advanced combat robotics. While difficult to control, Styker's freewheeling tactics and rapid mobilization ability make him a valuable offensive and exploration asset to IT, regardless of his choice of hobbies (such as accumulating a very attractive command staff).
Economy:
-GDP: *High*
-National Currency: Corporate Utility Units "Utils"
-Main Sources of Income- Bycorium Mining/Fracking, Planetary Exploitation, Investments, Mercenary contracting
-Trade Partners- WIP, large number of clients in the core worlds.
-Generalized description- IT-Columbus, despite its size as a small country, is still first and foremost a corporation out to make money. And they are making a lot of it, with their expertise in extreme planetary exploitation and mining resulting in major Bycorium exports back to the core worlds, along with various mineral and biological products sent back home as well, coupled with in-system trade and investment into wildcat mining operations. Being able to spare mercenaries to hire out to other factions also makes some nice pocket change.
Demographics:
-Population- 40 million, plus another 20 million transient corporate population.
-Race and Ethnicity- Various, IT is a very open megacorp, and anyone of any ethnic creed or race is welcome to become a valued employee. Although British and Japanese employees tend to dominate the middle management and specialist ranks for some reason, while Russians and Germans make up a major part of the worker-ranks.
-Languages- Trade Common, Anglic, Neo-Asian.
-Culture: High consumerism, hypercapitalistic, free market on almost every level.
-Generalized description:
IT-Columbus is one subdivision of a massive interstellar megacorporation, and its transplanted most of that corporate attitude into the Columbus sector with gusto. While IT does have strong employee discipline and hard work attitudes, the average employee is also afforded a certain degree of luxury and comfort with mass-media and a wide variety of consumer goods to enjoy, happy and well-paid employees leading to greater contributions to the economy of course. The higher ranking managers and executives naturally have better conditions corresponding to their rank and stockholdings, while the Tycoons live in unimaginable luxury.
