IC has started.
Keep in mind we're always open for new people.

Conlan took another bite of his eggs and bacon. Well, it was actually a... He really didn't know. Virtromeat was the answer he got when he asked the cashier what they were. They tasted like eggs and bacon, but they weren't actually eggs and bacon. This unsettled Conlan a little, he was used to the real thing. Just knowing that these weren't made from a pig and chicken was just strange. He'd been defrosted just three days ago and immediately given leave to a colony ship, it was like a huge city, complete with residential and commercial districts. He was also given a room at a 5-Star Hotel, well they were all 5-Star but the thought of it was nice. The whole three days there was a feeling in his gut, command didn't give anyone leave like this, hot food, hot showers, luxury, unless they were going to get the shitty end of the stick.

He took a sip of water. The diner was quiet, thankfully. An all white droid walked over, carrying a small white box. On its chest was a military insignia. It placed the box on the table. Conlan slowly looked at the droid, and then the box. A message from command, he assumed. He grabbed it and popped the top open, inside, on velvet was a badge. A mech pilots 'Legs', as it was often called. Like a paratroopers 'Jump Wings'. And a datapad. He picked it up, seeing that he was being called to the Admiral's ship. He rose an eyebrow.
"Transport has already been arranged." The droid spoke.
Conlan got up, left his payment and the two left the diner.

It was a short ride on the shuttle, a new model that Conlan had never seen before, but the rumble of the engines was still familiar. The droid had followed, and no small talk was exchanged. Did these droids even know about small talk? Droids before Conlan was frozen had no self awareness, and couldn't converse beyond acknowledging orders or providing feedback. But how long was he frozen? As he walked down the halls of the ship, several of the crew had given him stares, others gave him confused looks, some had to look twice at him before returning to their duties. Most of this was responded by with a stare of confusion back. Admirals usually never personally talked to a person like him.

The Admiral was on the bridge of his flagship. When he turned around, the Admirals appearance was very similar to that of Conlans. After a brief moment of silence, the two almost staring each other down, the Admiral spoke first.
"I'm you're nephew." The Admiral stated. Most of the bridge crew halted their duties to look.
"What." Conlan replied plainly.
"Your brother, Joachim, is my father." The Admiral explained,
"Ah. The feminine one who became a house-husband. Well, you didn't defrost me just to say hi did you?"
"Right, onto business. The last Captain of the 1st Vanguard Mechs, an exploration unit, went skydiving and then broke his legs on a botched landing. He retired early. You're getting promoted to take his place."
"Whats the catch?"
"There's only four pilots, the rest was reassigned to fill up the other squadrons."
Conlan was silent.
"You're getting your first assignment today. You'll be given briefing room 2 a deck down, and my assistant will be conducting the briefing." The Admiral said. A young asian man, skinny, wearing glasses stepped forwards. He carried a datapad like a clipboard. The assistant saluted, Conlan did not return the salute.

The two entered Briefing Room 2, finding it empty.
"The rest of your squadron should be arriving shortly." The Assistant assured.
Conlan just sat down on the front row, sighing. "I need a drink." Conlan muttered.
On the display in front of him, a solar system appeared, as well as several mechs. One of which was The Aspis, his, and the others he didn't recognize. The other mechs in his squadron he assumed.
Excellent, move that over to the chartab and I'll get the IC going the day after tomorrow, or something.
Once my buddy gets his sheet up, which should be today, I'll start the IC.

Could always use more people, so if you have any buddies... You know, hint hint, nudge nudge.

Bumpin again
Yeah hoping my post didn't derail anything or something. Took some creative liberties with the testing room.
What're you looking for boss, I'll follow your lead this round.

You could make any kind of character you want, I really don't mind.
Although a techpriest might be of some use.
"Sophon Phy, please report to room C for testing. Sophon Phy to room C." A voice announced. Sophon, who was just wandering with nothing much else to do arrived at the large wooden door almost immediately. The door slowly opened, revealing a dimly lit stone room. A large white fur rug was on the floor, she didn't recognize the species that the rug came from. It was too large to be any furry animal on earth, and when she stepped on it, none of the dirt or dust dirtied the rug. On the other end of the room was a large wood desk, covered in books and glowing gems of various colors. The edges were emblazoned with silver and the sides were engraved with epic battles between men and... Demons?

"Oh! That was quick, my apologies!" A voice spoke up from the desk, Sophon peered over the book as she approached the desk. A yellow robed person stood up and snapped their fingers. The torches in the room brightened, lighting up the room much more. "I was reading, very interesting book."
"I thought you needed light for books?" Sophon replied,
"Ah. Not this one. The hieroglyphs glow..." Yellow Robe explained, their voice trailed off towards the end, "Your arm?"
"Just a little accident." She shrugged,
"Will you be okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. What will we be doing today then?" Sophon asked, changing the subject quickly,
"Right!" Yellow Robe exclaimed, they looked down and picked up a translucent sphere from somewhere on the desk. Yellow Robe placed it on top of a book in front of Sophon. "Place your hand on the orb, and we will determine your magic!"
"I already know my magic." Sophon plainly said.

"Eh?" When Yellow Robe looked up at the young student, a bright green light was seen on her chest, and where her missing arm was there was now a green hand. Sophon pulled up the sleeve, revealing that the whole arm was made of the green plantmatter. Several leaves stuck out from visible forearm. She held up her plant arm and wiggled the fingers, then making a thumbs up. The orb pulsed once and lifted itself from book, now levitated a few inches from the desk. "Amazing..." Yellow Robe cleared their throat, "Anyways, put your hand on the orb. We'll see if there's any more to your magic. We will also see your future."
Sophon complied and cupped the orb from below with her plant arm, holding it up to her face. She carefully peered inside of it.

She saw white plains as far as the eye could see, nothingness beyond. The cloudless blue sky, and a blazing red sun. Then time sped up, the sun and moon flying by at speed. Occasionally there would be rain, then the water would dry up again. Salt flats. A place where life is rare, and water is rarer. Then she heard footsteps, and saw the shadow of a bipedal figure. From her vision, an arm made of plant and wood extended out. The process taking days. A handwave later, a small patch of grass grew. Then flowers. Then trees. She saw insects crawling on the newly formed soil, and animals running on the branches of the now massive trees. Then night came, and time slowed. In the darkness of the forest, she saw black shadowy figures come out of hiding behind the trees, their eyes glowing a familiar bright green. They all raised their left arms.

Then she was taken out of the vision. Sophon looked at Yellow Robe, "What was that? At the end, who were they?"
Yellow Robe rubbed their chin in thought, "Hm... I'm not quite sure. Denizens of the Forest, although I am not sure which. And they all appeared to greet you as one of their own. I'll look into this. Now, your future?"
Sophon held up the sphere again and looked once more into it, this time she saw only a glimpse. It was her, sitting in a small grove of trees, meditating. She sighed, that wasn't much of a future, she did that all the time.
"Meditation?" Yellow Robe asked,
"I do that a lot."
"I see. The final step is to go through that door and get a medical check up, then you're all done!" Yellow Robe explained. Sophon placed the orb back down on the desk and left for the check up. It was quick, Sophon not paying much attention to it. She was thinking about the orbs visions. After getting a clean bill of health, she concluded that she had to meditate. She made a beeline to the outdoors and walked towards a nearby tree and sat under it, sitting in the half lotus position.
I took a hiatus from the forum due to personal issues, that I would rather not explain. It honestly makes me very happy to see you guys toughed it through without me, if you'll have me I will make a new character, if not, my love for the peeps and the thread still stands.

Sure you could make a new character.
Right now the party is very uncomfortably trying to infiltrate a party.
<Snipped quote by Skyrte>

Ok, I will make the weight change. On the arms thing, would it be acceptable if the mech had a pair of arms or claws that fold out from the torso?

I'd be fine with your guy being the captain too

Yeah little TRex arms or something so your mech could hold rocks or sticks. We're going to be doing quite a bit of man vs. nature before we get to the other more shooty bit.
