@King Cosmos Ah, word, word. I will, indeed, be giving a more concise vision of all those things once I get the OOC up. Which I've already started on, but probably won't get around to finishing for another couple of days.

During that time, let's see if some more people get interested.

Slightly taller than average (5'7) and thin, with a hint of lean muscle, Miki doesn't look to be the physically capable sort. When not abiding the proper dress-code she is concealed by plain, often black clothing that hides minute curves and long limbs. Hair leaning more toward umbral than auburn hangs loosely around her shoulders, large eyes looming beneath; though they are often half-lidded.

[Personality]

Dreamy and strangely stubborn by nature, prone to bouts of careless meandering and sedentary contemplation in turns. More often than not, she simply goes along with what's in front of her; being more terrified of boredom than potential repercussions. It is this lack of will that leads Miki to surround herself with more cheerful and energetic people, latching onto them in hopes of avoiding having nothing.

Her speech is often delivered in a half-hearted monotone that belies striking occasions of what she has come to consider as wit and insight. As a girl both easily distracted and reckless, Miki's made a midnight hobby for herself. Graffiti. While unskilled with pen or brush, she likes to make her own stencils; though failure is usually a part of the process.

Lukewarm to the world, but fond of hoping that things will turn out better; though she rarely is proactive in finding solutions.

[Personal Background]

The second child of a single working mother, Miki has been watched over primarily by her elder brother, since the passing of her father. While unremarkable, in terms of expected dysfunctionality, her upbringing in Nashiro brought to bear the boredom that oft plagues MIki. It was under her brother's guidance that she, before entering high-school, began praticing what she considers her "art".

There have been myriad small incidents that have left their marks, but nothing extremely damaging or worthy of spurring some grand revolution of her heart. Days pass and her daze remains. In turn, she has, in a way, remained largely unchanged. Even the slow transition to adulthood has managed to leave much of Miki intact. Though, lately, she has been feeling astray; leaving her lethargic.

Sorry for the bit of delay in response, but thought I'd get back to you guys while I had an open moment. Got some more stuff in the works. I'll check back, periodically, through the day. Might even add a couple more terms to the Quick Terms section. I know King Cosmos has some questions about the games, themselves, but if there's anything else you guys want to know; just let me know.

Cohorts

"In the End, Nothing will give rise to Something."

A metaphysical cafe. Of course. Shadows around varied tables of luxurious substances from Realities. Each construct a challenge to the other sects. 'Behold my worth.' Strangely, it was a display that seemed of uncertain worth to the Nautical Queen and Man of Glaives. They, themselves, were sequestered in a corner of plain, polished wood; an earthen material which neither could readily identify.

"Such is Fate. Mechanical and bound by parameters. Am I to take this as another Catalyst?"

The Nautical Queen wriggled in place, as she often did, while the Man of Glaives observed her thoughtfully. She noted his gaze and gave what was unmistakably an agreement, even with the screaming static interference of a dying Incantation rattled nearby windows. His mask smiled, as always, but his hands were folded; the usual gesticulations absent. He was uneasy, she was amused.

"Of course, in such a formative stage, there is room for speculation. Even that which governs a new Incantation cannot be certain as to the catalyst; only the outcome. To that end, each Incantation is driven by a Desire." The Queen's fingers traced uncertain shapes in the air as she spoke, "That Desire will prove to be essential, when choosing Participants."

The Man of Glaives sat back, crossing his arms. Though he was quiet, countless whispers drifted through the air around him. Not his own. He was not a man given to such careless quirks. Or so the Nautical Queen surmised.

"Then we seek those who have a Desire equivocal to our own," he said with confidence, leaning more forward, "that is a simple task! One I shall not fail in! Though I hope you do not fail, either, I should say!"

There it was. The challenge. The comradarie. The Nautical Queen smiled, and gave an enthusiastic nod. She was the one who had put forward the Man of Glaives as a candidate for Sponsor. It was pleasing to see her intuition confirmed. Despite his few words, her new conspirator was quickly coming to understand.

A game. Both knew the truth of it. No matter where it would take place, the Event would be catastrophic. The Nautical Queen and Man of Glaives had both witnessed the horrors of prior Events; each eventually rising above the ranks of Participants to be welcomed among the Sponsors.

A game that invariably places Mortals at the center.

A game rigged by Fate and, in turn, sabotaged by Chance; both dancing on the strings of Desire.

Hey, there, thanks for reading through what might be a confusing intro. I'm Sleip and this is my flavor introduction of; A Game of Desire, a concept forged by both myself and a friend.

The aforementioned game will take place during the turn of a millennium, from 199X to 200X. As the new year is ushered in, a change overtakes the world. Some erupt into hideous forms, while others are torn apart. Others, still, will be chosen by Sponsors; those like the Nautical Queen and Man of Glaives.

While this has happened before, countless times, this particular instance of their "game" will eventually become unstable; reaching outside the boundaries of Fate and Chance.

Basically, what I'm offering is a concept inspired by countless different sources and given to the "darker" side of humanity. Participants and Sponsors will wage war across a city already gifted to armageddon.

Quick Terms

Fate: A mechanism by which the lives and actions of Mortals are guided. While vague in utilization, Fate permeates each game and opposes the concept of Chance.

Chance: A schism by which the lives and actions of Mortals deviate from Fate. While vague in utilization, Chance always opposes Fate in each game.

Participant: A Mortal chosen by a Sponsor to participate in the game. Participants are given Abilities that share a vague esoteric connection to their deepest Desire.

Sponsor: An assortment of beings involved with the game, they are not Mortals and may only influence events through championing a Participant.

End: The cessation of any given Reality through actions of Fate or Chance.

Nothing: Absence of reality between sessions of the game. A primordial chaos that often produces Realities after a short incubation.

Something: Reality itself.

Catalyst: That which turns 'Something' into a battlefield compatible with the game perpetuated by Sponsors. Interchangable with the term 'Event'.

Mortal: Beings that inhabit Something. Usually the central pieces in games. Limited to the Corporeal side of Reality. Notable Mortals are chosen by Sponsors for their Desire and granted Abilities that reflect this whim. These Mortals are labeled as Participants.

Reality: That which is eventually revealed through the machinations of Fate and Chance.

Desire: That which opposes Reality. Usually held by Mortals.

Abilities: The strange beyond-Mortal potency granted to Participants.

So there's my attempt at putting together an enticing Interest Check, without giving away too much of what I have in mind. I would like for this to be game of character development and, admittedly, something of a drama-fest. I have a fair amount in mind, beyond what has been given here.

Summary: I wanna make a game about a game where humans are granted the ability to obtain their desires. There exists more than what I've presented, but I want to see if I can gouge at some interest with vagaries.

Name: Gelda B(eatrix) Rue

Personality: A dervish, in terms of raw emotion; despite how she endeavors to present a mystic sort of decorum. While she goes through great pains to maintain amicable contact with those she sorts as friends, "The Unfamiliar" are treated with a more tangible sort of derision.
Sweeping terms such as "eccentric" have been applied to her, though more debasing words could work. She is without a doubt, childish and moody. This couples well with her fascination of occult studies, giving her a convenient excuse to exit conversation; or, conversely, a fair reason to butt in to the business of others.

Gelda's reasoning for choosing friends, or, really, most things (if she is forced to explain, rather than keep her veneer intact) is extremely serpentine and wanders into strange tangents.
