The streaks of lightning that crossed the plains reminded Saerena of shooting stars. The battle raged on, the group seemingly revitalized after the first shot connected. The others rushed at every chance, until Saerena was sure the beast would fall under the wake of physical and magical attacks. Unfortunately, she was wrong. Each time the horse went down, and each time it got back up. Still its health was immeasurable, as if the battle might last forever. Unexpectedly the horse turned away, as if retreating, only to charge at the lone figure on a distant hill. Within a second it seemed to have gapped 100 meters. And then there was the impact. A last second shot to slow the beast was likely all that saved the figure from death, instead flinging it downhill with tremendous force. Saerena saw that it was alive, but barely. At that, she sprinted to the opposite side of the hill where she had last seen the figure before it was lost over the crest. As she approached she saw Theo plunge his sword downward into the horse's flank. Is that it? she thought as she continued sprinting to the downed figure's side. Again, it was not enough. The beast rose, as enraged as ever, glaring daggers at Theo. She noted that he seemed different now, stronger, more confident, as he stared just as intensely back into the horse's eyes. She reached the side of the man that had been injured, and again dropped her goggles over her eyes. His HP had dropped dangerously low, his figure burned and bloodied. He would not survive another attack. Though Theo called for him to stun the beast again, Saerena doubted if he could lift his gun, let alone hold it steady enough for an accurate shot. She knelt in front of him, reading the built in HUD-rangefinder in her goggles. "Lock. 75 meters." she said cooly. "If you can still pull a trigger, rest the barrel on my shoulder to steady it. Clear shot, 75 meters." she added to the man behind her, still visibly disoriented. At that, she fired at the horse's eye, carefully accounting for drop and Coriolis, putting as much power as she possibly could behind it. Electricity arced off the gun and into the ground as she shot, propelling the bullet directly into its target. The beast's head whipped sideways on impact, almost taking it off its feet by sheer force, leaving an opening for a stunning shot and a blindspot for Theo. Hopefully this will end it, she thought as she fired, that shot may be my last for a while.
Saerena holstered her pistols as the final insect beast went down. I could get used to this she thought as she glanced among her companions to assess their condition. They were alive all, and not a single one badly injured, except perhaps a figure in the distance being pestered by the now enraged Rosa. Whether the thing was friend or foe, Saerena could not say.

She looked at the horizon then to notice that the mosquitos had in fact not been vanquished, but were retreating. A stroke of good fortune, or... Saerena had little time to think before she was interrupted by a bright light shining in the distance. At first look it appeared to be a star, but the way its brightness traveled, quickly, too fast for a rising sun, implied otherwise. Maybe luck was too much to ask for. Not that Saerena was disappointed; she was content to battle indefinitely. Obviously her stamina had increased since making the trip, or maybe it was just the effects of lesser gravity. Whatever the cause was, Saerena again drew and nodded hard to drop her goggles over her eyes. Just as she began to call out to warn the others, it was on top of them. She barely had time to prepare before the miniature sun came barreling towards them, directly into the man whom she had earlier assisted.

Saerena watched as he cartwheeled through the air and came back down painfully to the ground. She saw him get up, trying to shake off the blow, only somewhat successfully. Is he ok? Saerena asked her orb, now aware of its ability to speak telepathically. Instead of an answer, the HUD built in to her goggles projected a number above his person. 119/239. As she looked around, she noticed numbers appearing over the others' heads as well. Above the head of the creature, the numbers continually changed until finally reading 'unknown'. Knowing he could not take another hit, Saerena sprinted to the man's side as he started advancing. "No need to prove yourself. Take a second to heal. Leave it to us." she said as she leveled both side arms at what she now identified as an incredibly muscular, flaming horse. She watched as its head lowered and started rushing forward again, this time in her direction.

"Everyone, I have an idea! Its fast, but it can't use its speed on all of us at once. Circle it and attack from all sides. If it charges again, dodge and reform the circle. If anyone can heal, be ready to. This is a powerful beast." As she finished laying out her battle plan, the flaming stallion was upon her, head lowered and charging. Right before impact, Saerena jumped to the side, avoiding the beast while aiming. As she slid sideways away, Saerena fired a fast succession of bullets into the horse's flank, hoping that they would hurt or, at least, piss it off. As she jumped upright beside the man in white she said "Never got your name. I'm Saerena."
Yeah. Def can't take a second right now though.
Yeah, motocross accident. Nothing too bad.
The colossal mosquitoes came so quickly Saerena was still in mid sentence when she saw them. "Sure, a party sounds-". At the sound of buzzing Saerena glanced ahead to see a boy dressed in black running at the giant insects. At that Rosa was turned and preparing. Saerena drew her pistols, aiming at the approaching targets, and pulled the trigger...to no avail. She backed up behind Rosa, who already had her bat in swinging position. Quickly, she asked her orb "How do I use these?" The orange light responded Simple. Concentrate on the bullet. Not quite what you are used to, but you will figure it out. "Magnetism, then." Saerena watched as two targets began circling Rosa, and now Lance, in a wide flanking maneuver, waiting for an opening. She called to Rosa, "A party would be wonderful" as she focused on the bullet in her right pistol willing it forward. Suddenly the pistol kicked back, almost out of Saerena's hand, and the projectile went forward. The air around the gun crackled, electricity arcing out in random patterns. The nearest mosquito flanking Rosa was hit center mass, knocking it out of the air and sending it to the ground. Saerena took another six shots as it rose again, knocking it away but not doing lethal damage. By that time the second flanking mosquito had positioned itself between Rosa and Lance, and Saerena. Imagine the path of the bullet. It will act as you command. Saerena envisioned the bullet curving, aimed directly at Rosa, and 'fired'. The bullet curved, moving in a semi-circle to the mosquito, connecting, and knocking it away just before it struck.

Saerena was aware of battle raging around her. The skeletal figure launched a fireball at a nearby mosquito. Lance and Rosa had finished impaling a mosquito, then killing it through the magic of blunt trauma. The first man she saw, the one in all-white, had drawn his sword and had it knocked from his hands. Saerena instinctively dropped the goggles resting on her head over her eyes. The built-in rangefinder quickly estimated the energy needed to accurately hit the target, acting as an electromagnet and pulling the estimated energy from Saerena. She tried to turn this into a specific concentration of energy, slaking the electric pull and directing an equal amount into her hands. The bullets launched, following a straight path until gravity began to outweigh the magnetic range of Saerena's field. Although the bullet didn't connect, it did get the attention of the mosquito. Saerena fired a few more shots before turning to deal with another wave of mosquitos, leaving the man to fend for himself.
