"I know, right? I really wanna know what this stuff is now. D'you think this happens with all demons? I mean, why weren't we taught about this?"
Sebastian snickered. "Quite." He wanted to give Ethan blue lipstick as well, but that might be a little too far. Though it appeared harmless on the skin, it might be a different story if ingested. "Hopefully it never washes out." Then, he had an even better idea. What would Daya look like with blue feathers?
Sebastian was tired, but not terribly so. He smiled, gently patting Ethan's head. He couldn't help thinking that, though he very clearly proved he was capable of defending himself, Ethan was just a kid. A kid he needed to protect. If Daya was Ethan's size, would he feel the same way about her? Of that, he was sure. She was his teammate, and he was their leader.

But what did that mean? He wasn't really much of a leader - all he'd done was find a rickety stick-hut and run around screaming. What was a leader expected to do for a team that had only existed for a day? He wasn't sure. But he hoped that, in the future, he would be able to bring out the best in his team.

Looking down, he realized that he'd given Ethan a blue stripe in his hair. Sebastian stifled a laugh - it looked utterly ridiculous. Not that he was one to speak, having rubbed his face with the powder. Still though, he wondered how long it would take for Ethan to notice. It gave him an idea.

Several hours later, he gently shook Daya's shoulder. "Daya," he whispered, giggling, as he held a finger over his lips and directed her attention to Ethan. His hair was entirely blue, a slightly lighter shade than Sebastian's.
"I think it would be best to wait. Ethan said there might be more than one demon? 'N also, demons are more active at night." He pulled out a bag of dried fruit and began munching on a strip. "With Ethan in the state that he is, I don't really feel comfortable traveling right now. We're pretty safe where we are, I think, so let's not risk it."
Sebastian laughed a little. "I suppose." He tried to wipe the discoloration off his face and hands, but still a bit of color remained. He washed his hands in the stream, but it didn't work. "Um. What is this? I hope it's not dangerous."
"Interesting." He ran his fingers through the demon's fur, getting tons of dust on his hand. He smeared it on his cheeks, tinting them sky blue. Considering that he was literally coating himself with the remains of a dead creature, this was mildly disconcerting, but he didn't even realize it. "How do I look?"
"Mmm'kay," he murmured, falling asleep.

Sebastian set down the demon carcass, which was much lighter than it should have been. Instead of blood, a fine blue powder fell lightly from its wounds. "What is this stuff?" he wondered, rubbing it between his fingers. It left them a light blue color, even when he tried to sweep the powder off his hands.
"Does... what happen every time?" He swallowed, and pulled out his honey. It seemed to make him feel better, though he didn't eat much. "Not everyone uses magic th- the same way I do. If you want me to explain, I can try, but it's a little complicated."
"All right." Sebastian patted Ethan's shoulder to let him know that they needed to leave, and helped him up. It was his turn to be supported by Sebastian, and together they walked back to the outpost.
Sebastian's strength returned, though not in full. He still had a bit of a headache, and didn't feel like running anywhere anytime soon. He wanted to say something positive and encouraging, but he was honestly in shock. He'd never witnessed magic before; is that what it's like? For a moment, he was in complete fear of Ethan, the little kid who can't climb down stairs. "Uh. Wow. Um, what was that?"
