Well, that was fun.
Stretching out my arms and standing with my hands propped behind my head, I licked my lips. I watched Azurael stand and begin getting dressed, but I was in no rush to return to the confines of clothes. I could smell her sweat on my skin, and while in part I embraced it, another side of me was ready to wash it off. Making no special effort to look pleased by her, I simply watched her for a moment and then turned to my bunk and looked at my random assortment of items piled on the bed.
A normal person would have said something by now. There was a logical side in my mind that reminded me how I could act if I wanted to fall in with usual humanity. It was the same voice that reminded me, on occasion, how much I didn't fit in normally. I had heard people talk about something like a "conscious" that keeps them straight and true, but I knew this voice definitely wasn't one of those; because a conscious has feelings attached to it. This voice was much more harsh and analytical than those other mysterious guides.
Rummaging through my things I finally found the long black silk robe I kept and after wrapping it around myself I headed to the communal showers. We were supposed to be doing some sort of cleaning duties, but who knew when and what those were. That was the commander's snap decision, so I figured it best to wait out some sort of direction, at least from the usual janitorial staff as to what the fuck we were supposed to be cleaning. You could always start scrubbing toilets, it would get you in good favor with Monroe. I figured I would survive without kissing anyone's ass. Unless miss pinkie is up for some literal ass kissing. I smirked. I wonder if the carpet matches the drapes.
I hung my robe outside the bathroom and walked in naked without a second thought. We were supposed to be in our rooms. "Assuming the toilets and showers aren't off limits. Or else that woman might be a little more crazy than I thought." I said aloud to myself. Stepping into the shower and turning on the water, I welcomed the cool rush over my head and down my body. Closing my eyes, I listened to the stillness, and the slight echo of running water hitting the floor. Just as I had begun to drift away into the nothingness, a memory flashed across my mind, mercilessly tearing through the peace.
