SUMMARIZED STORYLINE
March 19, 2021
It started with the F.A.M.M. A recent, but outstanding organization out to bring medical miracles miracles to the people. A decade ago, they were successful in creating a new sedative, even more popular than morphine, and far less dangerous. In 2022, they tried for yet another medical miracle; stem cell research to grant full immunity to both disease. It worked with gene transplants, and became an even more expanded project that F.A.M.M. wished to give to to everyone. In order to give the miracle to all patients, they turned to gene into a vaccine, releasing it to the public soon after.
But the vaccine appeared to a slight issue. Gene splicing was meant for stem cell research and other medical work with developing children. To chance someone's gene's through a vaccine... the affects often ruined the very person who took it.
Those who had the vaccine lost their humanity. The gene expanded and grew, not only taking over other genes, but destroying proteins and cells in the process. It wrecked havoc on the brain. They became mindless, eyes glassing over and emotions fading. Riots broke through the streets, and F.A.M.M took a huge blow. Society wanted a solution. They quickly went back into research, starting with the necessities. Hoping to bring back their basic needs such as hunger, they reinstated proteins and glands into the minds. But the minds of each victim were already past saving. They had no emotions, no drive, nothing that kept the humanity inside them. With the gene and proteins back in place, the only thing left was hunger.
A pandemic reached world wide status. The term "zombie" came soon after, as the side affects held similarities. With supplies reaching a shortage, and the human population sliding even farther into extinction, the apocalypse began.
It is exactly three months after the spread of the gene, and it is now a widespread ban and warning. While the majority of population has become ill with the affects, humanity is not yet down on its last leg. Instead, they fight among themselves in order to claim land, weapons, and most importantly, supplies. in this RP, you will meet up with two to five other survivors, and do your best to live on despite all odds. Expect bloodshed, and expect death. Remember that zombies aren't the only enemies.
LORE RULES
While this is similar to most stories, the zombies are slightly different.
1. Not all zombies are going to look grotesque. The only thing completely marking them as zombies is their clear eyes, and their lack of conscience.
2. Zombies do not speak or communicate. So no you're not having a zombie pet, so sorry. They are predatory and only seek to fulfill the need to feed.
3. Zombies are immune to disease and sickness, as well as things such as poison or basic injuries. That doesn't mean they're invincible.
4. Getting bit does not mean certain death or being a zombie. But if your blood and someone's with the gene mixes into your bloodstream, then bye bye for you.
That being said, zombies are not invincible. If the heart and brain are both active, then the zombie can continue on. Here are the ways to kill:
1. Headshots that pierce the brain and/or heart (graphic I know)
2. Burning them. And by burning I mean ALL of them, or the majority of the head.
3. Crushing the head in some form or other. A limb will not act if it isn't attached to the torso and head. But missing limbs doesn't mean they can't move.
It should be noted that the gene takes a long time to fully take affect. Meaning there could be a zombie in the group that didn't show signs for a week or two. It was a way to try and make things a little more interesting than "Oh no, he got bit, lets kill him."Vaccines are choice. It's very different depending on where you live. But there's alot of factors that determine whether or not you had the vaccine. It's your choice to decide if your character has it or not.
HOW TO START
Create your character, and then use one of these pre-set backgrounds. Everything else is up to you! But try to keep them realistic!
Backstory 1: You did not get the vaccine. This is the most common and recommended starter, and you can choose a number of reasons why you didn't take the vaccine. Cost, Insurance, Time, Care. Whatever you want. Without taking the vaccine, you are free of the gene. But you can still be affected.
Backstory 2: You DO have the vaccine, or have been bitten at some point in time. This means that you have a few weeks before becoming a zombie. This is also common, but is not recommended unless you intend to stay in the RP for a short time.
Backstory 3: You are one of the few people who went through the gene transplant before birth. This means not only can you not be infected, you're immune. This is RARE. So only 1 out of 5 survivors will have it.
Once you're finished, make a post and join into the RP! :)
