Parent 1: The Architect, Ugly Old Ogre, Archie? Synros was brought to Galbar by the divine being that created it, The Architect himself. While the god was creating a race of cyclopes, creatures made in his image, he decided to bestow upon one of them greater power. He designated one to act not only as a leader for his other creations, but to act as a link between them. A cyclops with divinity within their blood. This is how Synros came to be.
In his early days as a nomadic leader of cyclopes he holds a deep reverence for his creator, believing The Architect to be the greatest of the divine beings due to his creation of Synros and his kin. And he ensures that the rest of his people feel the same way. The other Cyclopes are more than welcome to have respect and even worship other gods, so long as it is not more so than that which they give to the Architect.
Portfolio: Steel While all Cyclopes are capable of tempering iron into steel with their fists Synros is particularly adept at the craft due to his portfolio over the metal. His power doesn’t end their however as he is able to manipulate it with ease. His kin have to spend hours working the metal in order to get it before ending up with the final product, Synros on the other hand can end up with his desired result near immediately.
Given that he can manipulate steel he has little reason to forge more than one weapon for himself as he can shift its form. The base form his weapon takes is a massive greatsword, that he wields with two of his four arms. The main secondary forms he uses are a large spear and a set of four blades.
In theory he could use his power to help his wandering tribe, outfitting them and repairing equipment in a fraction of the time it takes, but he refuses to do so. He believes that they must keep their skills sharp on their own. In his eyes it would be spitting in the face of their creator to squander the great gift they had been given.
Persona: Chaotic Evil There is only one law among the Cyclopes. Survival at all costs. They will do whatever they need to in order to stay alive, both as a tribe and as individuals. In fighting is as common as battling outside forces, though most reach an accord before death. They are little better than monsters.
Synros is not an exception in this case, leading his kind by example. He shows no remorse towards anyone or anything perceived as a foe. Unfortunately it does not take much to be seen as a foe to either him personally or the tribe as a whole. It is his job as their chief and head protector to ensure that they survive, no matter what it takes. He will lead them across the entirety of Galbar in search of a place for them to call home and end their wandering.
Appearance/Form: As a cyclops the most distinctive feature about him is the singular eye that he has, resting directly above his nose. Following in a close second place would be the fact that he has a total of four arms. Half are located where they normally are found while the second are a foot below the first pair. The lower arms are slightly longer than the upper ones, allowing him further reach downward.
While compared to some mortals he would be considered massive he is closer to average among his own kind, standing around 13 feet with a wide and muscular build. His chest in particular is extra wide to accommodate his additional arms. Rather than being covered in flesh he and his kin have stoney exteriors. Synros stones are a dark grey in color.
After several hours I have finished reading the entirety of the OOC and IC. I will begin working on a character sheet for a demigod after I have slept, currently I don't have any particular leanings for portfolio though it will be something that can be used in the current era for a purpose.
He had spent very little time in his room since the orientation the previous day, though he was grateful that for the time being he had the room to himself. Instead he had taken to the second part of their instructions with vigor. The moment orientation was completed, Cedric had headed out toward the beach and began training. He alternated between the sandy shores and submerging himself beneath the waves. Since there was a substantial difference in his speed between the two he had to make sure to split his time evenly while training.
Once the sun began to set he ended his training session. Under normal circumstances he would have continued for a couple more hours, but due to the fact that they were told to expect a mission in a few days time he had decided that he didn’t want to risk exhausting himself. Instead he watched the sunset, a slight smile on his face. It wasn’t until night had completely engulfed the beach that he made his way back to his room to sleep.
The messenger found him the following morning, just as he had completed the first of his land based exercises. He was pleased that they would be heading out sooner than anticipated, and interested in seeing who his fellow Ensigns were, but he couldn’t help but be disappointed that they hadn’t waited until he had finished the set. Still he gave the man an affirmative nod and watched as the messenger raced off into the distance.
Since he had been called to action before he could begin his water exercises he decided that to make up for it, at least in part, he would make his way to the Eastern Port via the ocean. His chosen method also came with the benefit that he would reach his destination sooner than if he had walked there. Fully submerged he easily outpaced his land speed. Without any further delay he slid into the waves, virtually disappearing from sight.
His underwater journey was rather uneventful and before he knew it he had arrived at the location they were to meet Captain Salamanca. For just a moment he let himself enjoy being surrounded by the ocean before surfacing and pulling himself onto the pier. One of the other Ensigns had already arrived, a young woman with brilliant violet eyes, and shortly following his appearance another guest popped out of the sea. After letting the latter shake herself free of some of the water clinging to her Cedric approached the pair.
”Hopefully Captain Salamanca will be here shortly.”
Cedric stands at 190.5cm and weighs 100kg. He doesn’t actually wear the necklace in the photo.
Personality: Between the years he spent training with his father followed by immediately falling into work as hired muscle, Cedric’s personality became that of strict discipline. This was very apparent during his first few years as an adult, though the time he was under contract with Leo softened it a bit. He can appreciate humor, however cracking a joke himself is rare, and understands that periods of rest can be beneficial.
Background: Cedric’s early life was relatively uneventful. From a young age his father began training him the martial art style known as Fish-Man Karate. This training consumed his life for several years. He and his father would start before the sun fully rose over the horizon and wouldn’t finish until it had already set. Free time was a luxury only given once a week. Rather than use this time to relax Cedric instead took to the sea on these days, spending hours exploring the ocean surrounding their home.
His training with his father ended when he turned 18, not because he had mastered the fighting style but because his father believed that the only way for Cedric to continue to improve would be to go out on his own and get practical experience with it. They did not simply kick him out, instead they asked one of their close friends to provide Cedric with transportation to a larger town. Upon his arrival he began taking on any jobs he could find, most of which involved acting as protection for merchants due to the highly dangerous nature of the oceans.
He spent four years working as hired muscle for various ships, which typically were just for one time gigs. However by the time he was 22 he had started making a name for himself as reliable protection and was approached for an unusual job, at least for him. The first oddity was the fact that the man requesting him was a human merchant, up until this point he had been working exclusively for other Fish-Men. His potential employer though didn’t seem to care what his race was, just that he was efficient. The second unique aspect was that he was being asked on for a long term contract. He would act as a bodyguard for Leo and his supplies for a period of one year and at the end could decide if he wanted to renew the deal.
In total Cedric spent a little under four years sailing with Leo, in which time the two had become friends. For a while he actually had been harboring the idea of simply staying indefinitely. It gave him plenty of opportunities to gain more experience in using his fighting style in live combat and the pay was much more than he had been earning before. This all changed when he caught wind of the fact that the Marines were recruiting, anyone and everyone that they could. He simply could not pass up the chance as he knew that it would serve as the perfect means of testing how far he had come. Leo even allowed him out of his contract early, though to be fair Cedric paid him a substantial fee for the inconvenience. He then made his way to Marineford to sign up.
Skills: Fish-Man Karate - A martial art that is practiced by certain skilled members of the Fish-Man race. While deadly enough on land, Fish-Man Karate has a number of devastating underwater moves designed to be suitable with the Fish-Man strength and speed along with the mobility that goes while under water and, in some cases, a fish-man's personal adaptation (fins, teeth, etc.).
Shipwright - While sailing with Leo it was suggested to Cedric that he apprentice under the shipwright during his downtime. He was completely onboard with this idea as it gave him something to do rather than waste time. With his disciplined attitude he took quickly to the craft. With nearly four years spent helping fix the ship he has become adept at the art.
Techniques: Hundred Brick Fist- A hard punch that can send an opponent flying. It is said that it is strong enough that it can break through one hundred bricks.
Forearm Sledge - Cedric twists and slams his forearm into the back of his opponents neck.
Backfoot Jawbreaker - Usually done underwater, an inner-sole kick to the opponent's chin.
Hundred Brick Roundhouse - A hard kick that is aimed at the side of an opponent, capable of sending them flying. Much like its punching variant it is believed that the kick can break through one hundred bricks.
Flying Fish Spear - Cedric builds momentum beneath the surface of water by swimming in several quick circles before launching himself out of the water with the intent of tackling someone off of a ship and land in the water on the other side of the ship.
Stats:
STR: 28 AGI: 5 PER: 13 DUR: 17 WIL: 15
Perks:
Waterborne: As a Fishman, Cedrics moves faster when submerged; his movements are not just unrestricted, but are enhanced as well.
Quick Fix: Speedy repairs and fixing up ships in a short amount of time is Cedric's bread and butter.
