Bio

Heyo,

I'm a twenty-four year old Canadian social worker. I'm always up for running with any RP idea, but my favourites have always been high-fantasy, industrial/magic settings, hard sci-fi (ala Asimov and A.C. Clarke), and political intrigue. My schedule is busy, but certainly not busy enough to not respond to any PMs or posts within two or three days.

Cheers!

They'll be members of the Chosen, so not a homogenous unit by any stretch.

So, just to clarify, sort of like a special honour guard unit that gets deployed as need be on the battlefield in a mobile/responsive sense?

EDIT: in response to your lore ideas, I think succession crises allow all sorts of opportunities for chaos and back-handed deals, and would create plenty of hooks for the PCs to care more or less about the fate of some factions.
Welcome! And, of course, I'm also always up for writing anything if you have an idea you want to test out. Similarly prefer high-casual to advanced, at least on past sites.

All the best.
I'd be interested; ergo, here's a preliminary CS:

First of all, I appreciate the "red goes faster" references - one of my favourite pieces of individual lore from any universe ever.

I would absolutely be interested in this - wasn't sure at first when I saw it, but having read through the entire post it speaks to me a lot more. I have a couple of questions though:

1. How does the company handle siege? In our own history pre-medieval and even medieval armies rarely travelled with explicit siege weaponry for the purposes of taking entrenched targets, and where it existed it was never really sophisticated tech until much later in history. But, seeing as this is fantasy, there's always some overlap, and Orcs to me seemed to be exactly the type of race that could utilize their brute strength to bring larger weaponry to bear - ala a portable ballista or two could be managed by a smaller team than humans would require. This isn't so much a character idea rather than a point of interest. =)

2. Is there magic? I find that the excessive presence of magic in large-scale fantasy mercenary stories (at least in the literature) tends to make those magic-users the most important component of the army, both in defense and offense. I love me some good magic, but was just interested to know how it's going to be handled.

Other than those points of interest, would love to be a part of your setting if you'll have me.
@Strawberry425 For sure. I brought it up mainly because most of the myths and legends that are most frightening/fascinating/etc from many Native American cultures are partially based in reality already, wherein stories about skinwalkers and wendigo are cautionary tales about what happens when you break any number of taboos, such as cannibalism, murder, theft, etc. It makes for easy 'big bad evil guy' tropes for sure. Regardless, I'm pretty positive that I'd want to play a very human, yet somewhat immoral (ala selling elf blood to vampires for side-cash immoral) frontier doctor.

Definitely like the take on magic.
I might be interested! Given that we're talking about the Southern USA just post the Louisiana Purchase and also making room for lots of fantasy/mythological elements from other stories, what's your world's take on the veracity of Native American myths and traditions, ala Navajo skinwalkers or Cherokee wendigo? Given that you've given many of your alternate races a shared biological ancestor, I'm assuming that you're trying to retain a scientific basis for the fantasy elements, but I see that you're placing it in an as-of-yet still "wild" territory so I was just wondering to what extent the line between magic and science is blurred in your world? If that makes sense...
I'd be interested; with regards to the beastmen, is it mainly just minotaur-esque creatures and the mentioned hawkmen, or are there a myriad of other 'taurs as well. If so, I would be most interested in playing some kind of naga.

Let me guess; you're not a native English speaker, are you?

Quebecois, born and bred, but I did learn English as a child. I just like using the whole vocabulary. Too many years of academic study will give you weird grammatical habits. :P
Thanks for the welcomes @Kassie and @dalesteven16. :)
Hey hey, new to the boards but been tooling around on other play-by-post sites in the past, many of whom have met an all too untimely end. Looking forward to writing some stories with the help of all you fine folks.
