When Amanda left to Scout, Astfridur found herself wandering off. She hadn't gone far, not that she needed to. The thing that caught her eye more than anything was the magical weapons the police were examining and taking photographs of. "Check those babies out," She whistled, earning herself a few glances from the officers at work, "Those have got to be worth a lot of money. They look efficient, too." Part of her wished she could take one now, if only because they looked like they could do some damage, and she'd love to explore what they could do. A weapon, any weapon, was exciting.

"Let me get a look?" She asked one of the officers, but she was already reaching out to grasp one of the weapons. "I'm pretty much here for this, anyway. Among other things." Before she could touch anything, the officer dropped his camera, the device kept from hitting the ground by the strap around his neck, and grabbed her hand, giving her a fierce glare.

"Hey, no touching. Bad enough you're over here distracting us with your ogling." The officer scoffed, eliciting a laugh from another one.

"Next thing you know, she'll be catcalling them."

The two chuckled, and Astfridur yanked her hand away, wearing a bit of a scowl on her face. "Yeah, yeah, whatever. I just wanted to get a better look at them. A simple no would have done." Even as she spoke, she was reaching for them again, only to get caught once moree.

"I said no touching! Go back to your tour group!" The officer jerked his thumb in the direction of everyone else. "I'm sure they'll be upset if they find their kid went missing." He snickered to himself, but his laughter slowly faded when he saw the glare that the dwarf was giving him.

"You made my list, ***hole." She grumbled, pointing a finger at him threateningly. "I am not a kid. I'm probably older than you, and I'm pretty damn sure I outrank you!" She probably did, right? She was military, and he was local law enforcement. She had no idea how the interplay between the two worked, but she didn't care at the moment. "I'm gonna come looking for you when this over. Mark my words." With that, she stomped away, glancing back at the astonished officer every now and then.

By the time Amanda had come back to brief the team, Astfridur had already rejoined the group, her arms crossed and her glare focused on the holographic presentation as she did her best to pay attention. Her little rant made her feel better, but only to a point. "I'll go with you to check the buildings" She volunteered, raising her hand. "Maybe there's some good stuff in there we can find. If they didn't go in there, then everything should be untampered with and fresh." Perhaps there would be some weapons available as well, or, better yet, maybe they'd find an undestroyed computer, though the odds of that were not very high.

The dealers seemed to be pretty thorough in covering their tracks. But if they were selling and/or storing from this location, then something had to have been left behind. Something other than just the weapons. No one can stay in a location like this for long and not leave something substantial behind.

"Mr. X, huh? I wish I had more information on him," Astridur drummed her hands against her knees as she reviewed the information from the mission brief. It seemed like a simple mission, but everything seemed simple until you hit the field, at least that's how it was in her experiences. Objective one would be the most important, and because of that, likely the most difficult. Finding out who is running the show is rarely easy, and if the OMR didn't know already, then they would likely be digging around for information on this guy for awhile, unless they happened to catch him while they were there.

Ha! Wouldn't that be nice!

"It's a little weird though, who they're selling to, just as you mentioned," Astfridur spoke up, scratching the side of her head as she thought out loud, "They do seem ideologically incompatible. If one group gained any significant foothold, then surely the other two would have a bone to pick with them." She couldn't see any revolutionary faction being okay with either the neo-nazi group or a biker gang having a leg up on them.

"Maybe this Mr. X just want to induce some chaos, huh? Use it as a blanket to cover something up, a bit of a distraction," The only problem with that line of thinking was that they had no idea what he could be distracting anyone for. "Or maybe he's just fundraising. If he's selling guns, he could use the money." He could just be a simple arms dealer, flooding the streets with guns and ammo to fill his pocket.

God, she hoped he was just a regular arms dealer. That would make this mess so much easier to clean up.

"Anyway, enough of my stupid ramblings! I don't have a single question for ya, Madeleine! Thank you kindly for the brief!"
Color me intrigued! I've always wanted to do a dragonrider RP, but never got around to it! Looks super interesting!

A robot. An actual robot was standing before them, and showing off her mechanical body at that. Astfridur was at a loss of words, and found herself just staring for a moment. Her curiosity, both personal and scientific were starting to rise, and she found herself with quite a few questions to ask, but the red-headed woman had beat her to it, firing questions at Amanda left and right. They were good questions, though. Questions she might have asked herself when she was younger. She couldn't fault the girl for asking questions, but she would admit, the amount of speech and the speed of which she did so was giving her a bit of a head ache. She should have stopped for some coffee first.

"Hug...me?" The question caught Astfridur off guard by the question. Cute? She could see it. Adorable? Well, she put in her best effort. But a hug? What? "No, you can't hug me, I'm not a child!" She could feel her inner grump rearing its head, but she did her best to hide it. Her response came out less like growl and more like an annoyed pout. The girl had so much energy that she supposed she should be happy that she was asked, she might have very well just been hugged, and god knows how embarrassing that would have been. She already looked like she was fighting the urge to do it anyway. "But we can shake hands, that's a good way to start a business relationship."

Faye's introduction was nearly as intriguing as Amanda's was, for different reasons of course. She was so young, and here she was, with the rest of them. In fact, a look around the room told her that a lot of their group were on the young side. Young people joining the OMR wasn't surprising. Wherever there was a military organization, there would always be young people enlisting, but they must have been pretty talented for their age to be in this room.

"I am Astfridur Rumnaheim," She introduced herself, speaking aloud for the whole room, turning her head to get a good look at everyone as she did so. "Metallurgist, engineer and field scientist for the OMR, I've been here for a long time, more than five years. I guess my rank is that of a Petty Officer, second class, but I'm not really a soldier. Scientist first, soldier second. But that isn't to say I don't know my way around a good scrap, and I can kick ass when I want."

"Mostly, I run experiments, analyze, identify and characterize materials, but minerals and ores are my specialty. I know my way around some machines and technology, to a degree." If she were to take a look at Amanda, she doubted she'd be able to know or do much about her. "My magic isn't quite as cool as being able to blink through space, but I'm pretty proud of it. I think it represents me pretty well! As long as I can make contact with the earth, through a medium or my own flesh, I can make it do what I want. Geokinesis, if you will. Don't matter if it's sand, rock, or dirt. I ask, and it responds."

"In any case, I'm happy to meet you all, and I look forward to working with you! So, let's do our best, and get everyone home in one piece, eh?" She flashed the entire room a rather toothy grin and then moved to take a seat, hopping onto an empty chair and falling back into the rest. She kicked her legs back and forth, waiting to listen to anyone else's introductions or, well, anything they had to say.

Despite having started her day at 6:00 AM in the morning every day for the past few years, Astfridur had not grown accustomed to the early start at all. When her morning alarm began to blare, it was slept off its nightstand and across the room, its cable yanked from the outlet. The grumbling woman wanted to bury her face in her pillows and go back to sleep, but she new she couldn't do that. Today was far too important to skip out on it. Besides, her work ethic wouldn't let her miss a day of work, not if she could help it.

She rolled out of bed and stumbled her way over to the window, pulling the curtains apart and letting the sunlight pour into the room, nearly blinding herself for a few moments and increasing her morning frustrations. "Oh hell..." She took a moment to look over the city of Frankfurt, and couldn't help but scoff. It was a beautiful city, she would never deny that, and she enjoyed it thoroughly and was glad to be stationed here, but right now she couldn't be bothered. The mood would leave her eventually, or she'd make it. There was no way she was going to let someone see her fit into the grumpy dwarf stereotype, she would die before that happened.

She spent the next hour getting herself together for the day. Showered, dressed, teeth brushed, hair braided and ponytail wrapped. By the time she had finished, most of her grumpiness had left her, fading away with her sleepiness. Besides, it was hard to be entirely angry after soaking in hot water for awhile. But the thing that removed any trace of crankiness left in her body was the sound of paws skittering against the floor and the soft mewl of her cat. "Good morning, Sindre." She cooed softly and knelt down to pet the cat. "I'm gonna be gone awhile, so we'll eat together. Don't give your sitters a hard time." She flicked the cat's nose gently, and in response the feline playfully bit her finger, eliciting a chuckle from Astfridur. "Love you too."

After a hearty breakfast and a bit more playing with the cat, Astfridur was out her door and on her way to the OMR office. It wasn't far from where she lived, just a short train ride away, and it wasn't one she minded. She could relax a little before she got swept up in her work, not that that was terrible either. She loved her work, but sometimes she found herself too wrapped up in it, whether it be in the lab or in the field. If it was something she'd come up with in the lab, it would be all she could think about for days, if not weeks, a new discovery or progress made on an examination or experiment was always something exciting for her, and she especially loved slapping something together with her hands. If it was for a field mission, like today, then she was anxious. Not out of worry, but excitement. Field work was always fun, and this mission seemed like it would be the best of both worlds.

When she arrived at the OMR building, she wasted no time in skittering past her coworkers, giving a small nod or a quick greeting to everyone she recognized as she walked by. She headed directly for the room she'd be meeting her team in, shoving the door open before stepping inside. She'd entered just in time to hear the introduction of Ross, mostly catching the bit of his participation in The Shattering. She couldn't help but whistle out loud. "Oi, this mission must be something of a real shit show if we got people with accolades like tha-" As she looked around the room, her speech paused. Gone was her semi-snarky entrance, replaced by bewilderment and curiosity as she stared upon the mechanical girl in the room. She didn't quite know what to say, and so the only thing that left her mouth was a soft "Huh."

Rahne glared at his hand, silent except for her heavy breathing, which had begun to calm down as Ambrosius spoke. No longer was she gasping and wheezing for air, and the burning in her lungs had dulled to a light irritation. She took her time before answering the Taboxi, and not because she was unsure, but because she was angry, and she didn't want to be, at least not towards him. He did nothing wrong, it was the entire f***ing situation that had pissed her off. The dead civilians, the snow and ice, the chilling air. All of it was making her angry enough that her skin was fighting off the cold with ease.

But it would do her no good to be angry with her savior, however frustrating he was, and Asmond, the rookie. They weren't responsible, and were victims as well, in a way. "Okay," Rahne spoke as she finally took Ambrosius's hand, clasping his wrist as she stood up, with his assistance. "I'll ignore yer' smart ass, but I ain't comin' with ye." She could see the shock on both of their faces when she spoke, especially Asmond's.

"I took an oath to protect this city and I damn well am intendin' to see it through! Even if it kills me!" She yanked her sword free of the mage's body, using her foot to push the body down as she pulled her weapon out. The blood had already become cold and frosted, refusing to run down her blade like it should have. "I can't leave all these people here, all the rest of my men...ye two are just civillians, so it wouldn't be right of me to keep ye here. Ah'll help you two leave and that's it. I'm staying here to fight." She was firm in her words, and her eyes were steeled.

It didn't matter if she died, it only mattered if she tried.

And she intended to.

The setting seems pretty crazy and out there, but in a good way, I think!
"What..." Rahne was surprised by the timely intervention, so much so that she forgot about the pain in her torso. She didn't reply for a few moments, her eyes lingering on the smoldering mage's body. That was close, too close. She had been running so hard, and for so long, that she didn't have the energy to respond. She was barely able to kill the first one. "Thank ye, I woulda-"

Her speech was stopped in its tracks the moment her eyes laid upon her rescuer. "Oi...you..." Whatever gratitude she was about to exhibit disappeared. "What's a bastard like ye doin' out in the streets? Ye' takin' advantage of all'a this to break free?" She couldn't really blame him, the Brilans would likely execute everyone, prisoners included. "Ye' best not be lookin' ta' loot anything! IF ye' do, I'm gonna be comin' after ya myself, once these c**ts are taken care off." She tried to pull her sword free from the body of the mage, and managed to do so, but not without struggle.

"If ye' know what's good for ya, you'd get yer' scabby arse outta here now."
