@Spiritzer I'm waiting on my collab partner for like the last two paragraphs for the first match. She is moving her stuff for college and was busy most of the day. How have things been on your end?

The Capital Mazelli, Parliament
8:00 AM

The invited party leadership all sat down in the desighated meeting room. The door shut quietly behind them. An imposing man of about 6'1 stood by his seat at the head of their table. He had wrinkles from years of politics. A fake smile plastered on his face feigning camaraderie. Today meant business.
Once the formalities were over Prime Minister Giovanni sat down and pressed the tips of his fingers together in a classic power pose. The other party leaders did their best to appear confident. However, through the NA's clever set up of the meeting room and their imposing head of state, they were like children sent to the Principal's office.

He began, "Thank you for coming in for this meeting at such an early hour before the vote..I realize you all are very busy individuals with a lot on your plates." He spoke with confidence and understanding. His sarcasm was lost on most of them as he continued, "As you all know, we have a bill that is up for vote today. We would like to combine our efforts together. There is so much good that can be done for our beloved nation if we join forces!" Giovanni stood up in excitement and walked around the table as he continued, "National Alliance wishes to extend an offer to the other similar leaning parties to join together for the good of our Republic. And we are not asking you to do this without some incentive." Just then, a man in a business suit began to place a briefcase in front of each party leader. It was up to them to see the contents of each...

Prime Minister Giovanni glanced at his gold rolex in anticipation. It was time. As far as his party, the National Alliance could gather, they had all the votes they needed to pass this crucial legislation. With the added support of the other similar leaning parties, they would be unacosted for any legislation they decided on. If the others decided to join them, the future looked very stable for the National Alliance. Far from the usual chaos that ensued every election cycle. Certainly a few bribes here and there wouldn't hurt the greater good of their nation, would it?

The law, if passed, would begin the phasing out of coal use within Etelia. In its place they would begin the process of looking for cleaner forms of energy. Notably, gasoline and oil. The coal mined in their nation would be sold to the surrounding nations that needed energy. The goal was to have Etelia's energy input be less then 5% coal within 20 years.

It was sure to please various environmental lobbyists. That was why the NA was going for it. Of course, the coal industry would be displeased, but they would still be able to sell their resources out of the country. It was a good compromise as far as Giovanni was concerned. How the vote would end up would be determined by the end of the day...
Nation: Etelian Republic

Party: National Alliance

Base: Moderate Left

Prime Minister: Giovanni Panini

I just began it. Don't know how long it will be, but probably finished tonight or tomorrow. I'll let you know.
Hey this looks very interesting. May I join as Etelia?
I guess I'm unfamiliar with the thread starter.
Cicero Bladewalker

Cicero shook his head and replied,

"That's everything, you have my thanks."

He watched as the sickly man left. He never did get his name..Hopefully wouldn't be an issue later. Regardless, he had a match coming up in a few hours with some time to kill. He looked the healer over and smiled.

"Well, there is one thing.."

He waited for her to reply. Then Cicero continued, clutching his stomach as it gurgled,

"My stomach feels so empty! Thankfully I know the cure. Come, let us eat at one of the venders here in the Colosseum. That would put me in top condition. What do you say, Ms. Elfreda?"

Despite his polished, proper demeanor, Cicero did have a sense of humor. He enjoyed a good time. Perhaps they would have an interesting conversation before the next match.

Cicero Bladewalker

Cicero listened to the man fully. He was willing to find out the weaknesses of Cicero's opponents, for 30% of the winnings. This kind of stuff happened all the time! Opponents would size each other up constantly, trying to find a weakness to exploit. What would be the harm in having some knowledge beforehand? It was likely they would do the same thing.

Something didn't sit right with Cicero. Maybe it was the scarred, shady figure, or the idea of a backdoor deal. Either way, Cicero didn't want to go forward with it. He was a knight for all that was good! Certainly he had his moments like anybody else, but he was held to a higher standard.

"I'm sorry. I can't win based on weaknesses gained through underhanded deals. I appreciate all your help either way and I anticipate you making a lot by betting on me."

With that he turned to see Gwyneria ask for him and one other person. Cicero was familiar with the healers in tournaments. They made the recovery so much easier. A lot less casualties occured because they were on the scene.

"I am Cicero Bladewalker."

Then the healer began to patch up the gash on Cicero and his armor. She was good at what she did, taking only a few seconds as the wounds closed. He asked,

"I haven't seen you working here before. Are you new to town?"

His attention was fully on his healer. There was something about her that he found different. Cicero didn't know what that was yet, but he intended to find out.

Cicero listened to the man intently. He rejected his original offer but lowered the price to 170. Cicero grinned extended his hand again and replied,

"Deal. The name's Cicero. I'll save the vial for later."

After shaking hands, Cicero handed over 170 silvers. Cicero would glance around briefly. Then he returned his gaze to the man. He seemed to have experience and knowledge of things that were in another sphere then the one Cicero usually ran in. Notably, alchemic concoctions and the like. It was a bold question to inquire, but it was worth asking,

"This may sound like a strange thing to ask, but would you consider being my coach for the duration of this tournament? I would pay you part of the winnings. On top of your bets, it would make you a very wealthy man.

He didn't exactly expect the man to agree. His experience could prove invaluable, so Cicero hoped that prize money would be worth it to him.
