Desert Outpost, Roh

Cicero nodded grimly to Manzur. The deaths of more comrades must have been hard for the grizzled vet to bear. Yet he managed to shake it off just as quickly as he cleaned his weapon stained with the flesh of his former comrades.

Cicero echoed Gwyn's question, "Yes, are you certain they can be trusted? Being a demonfolk I mean." He added quickly.

Gwyneria was unable to determine any significant damage to Cicero. As far as he seemed through his mannerisms, nothing was amiss. He did speak as if he was still catching his breath, however. As for herself, she had perhaps a few more fire spells in her before she needed to rest.

Gwyn's flame missed as the undeath moved right before it hit. A ball of fire burst in the sands erupting in a cloud of dust. However, the two undeath that were aflame from before had caught fire to two others! They ran off and collapsed into the sand.

Manzur, however lined his foes up opposite with Cicero. At just the precise moment he lunged with his spear and impaled two of the undeath through at once! Their heads popped like melons at his swift strike. Afterward, he lunged backwards in time to retract his weapon. An undeath leaped at him, but narrowly missed. Manzur stuck his spear through the fiend and into the ground. It growled one last time before it went silent.

Cicero bashed his opponent with his shield and lopped its head with a strike. Suddenly, the only sound to be heard was the crackling of flames in the night. The stench of burning, rotted corpses wafted the air. Cicero looked up to Gwyn and called out, "He's a friend! Come on down." Cicero wiped his brow and thanked his compatriot, "It's been some time, old friend. Tell me. what happened here?" He reached out to clasp Manzur's right arm in a familiar greeting as he spoke.

The creatures continued bombarding Cicero, the knight was doing well to hold them off. A parry here, a thrust there, but it was becoming overwhelming. Just before he was struck, Gwyneria's fireball burned one's torso to ash and set fire to two others.

The veteran soldier charged the undeath courageously. With a deft hand he struck with his spear. Piercing through their zombie flesh. Before they even knew he was there, Manzur had already pierced two of their heads. They immediately sunk to the ground motionless.

Cicero spotted his old friend through the darkness. The light of Gwyneria's fire illuminating the immediate area. "Manzur! I feared you had joined your comrades to the grave!" Cicero continued hacking and slashing at his enemies vulnerable points.
Two other undeath fell. 6 remained.
How would Gwyneria and Manzur continue?
@Bastian Right now we have two others in queue. You're welcome to be next in line if the others aren't interested.
@dog

It will be up by the end of today.
@Dog @Timemaster My co-gm and I are working on the first post of the next phase. You will both be introduced. Dog first and then Timemaster. It should be finished by Monday. Thanks for your patience.
@Dog I like it. Consider yourself approved:).

@Timemaster I will have my Co gm go over the details with you sometime today or tomorrow. Thanks for submitting an excellent backstory.
@Dog I like it for the most part. I would just ask you edit the command of regiments down to perhaps a company. He could have fought in those battles and gotten a reputation like you said.

Then you can add at the end how over the next decade or so he became a sort of mercenary for the land of Roh after retirement. There he was met by the adventurer Cicero Bladewalker who joined him and a band of other men to put down any illegal demonfolk activity within the region. Though the main armies were defeated, they still resisted the Kingdom of Roh.

There they came to know one another over the coming years, fighting together. Cicero gained some nasty scars and perhaps they both learned different fighting styles from one another.

In a particularly nasty battle, they managed to survive a deadly ambush of demonfolk, but were the only two to survive out of a group of 15 or so.

Cicero left after that back home to Alvion, but they were connected through their service. You can decide whether or not he continued his crusade or found a different occupation.
@Timemaster Looks neat! I will say the runes seem like an interesting side of the arcane. Their use will be at a cost, however. I will talk to my co-gm as to what the costs will be. The forcefield will be just a single moment, rather then seconds of activation. Healing will cut time off the user's lifespan by the amount of time saved by healing. (Just an idea)

Light will perhaps cost some stamina.

Shield looks alright. The arm will be as heavy as the material it turns into and cannot be undone until the time limit. Essentially it would be like stone. No dexterous movement with it.

The detect friend rune I'm hesitant on. I don't want to nerf it too harshly, but I don't like it really either as it is kinda like easy mode for villains. I'll talk to my Co gm.

I think I can allow the last rune on the condition that magic the begins outside of the 2 meters (fireballs, etc) does not dissipate. It simply disallows magic to begin within the circle or any type of arcane abilities. Magic that begins from outside the circle continues on.

I will mention these things to my co gm. I like the ideas you are going for and look forward to tweaking things with you. Magic in this world comes with great cost. You can read up on it above in the hider. It's not as easy to use as other high fantasy games.
