@TheHangedMan Ah, I couldn't help but notice @MonkeyBusiness's character has no room. Could he room with Alex? That is, provided MonkeyBusiness has no objections.
Alex wrapped his arms around himself as he made a beeline for the dorms. The young man was from California. He was wearing a t-shirt, some jeans, and a light jacket. He was happy to be in the academy, that was true, but he hadn't known it would be so cold. He was followed by what appeared to be a large papercraft, trotting along with him with unnatural agility on short, stubby legs.
"Boxdog." BoxDog barked, as they reached the dorms. "I know, I know. We can unpack when we get inside." He said, then stepped into the facility. Warm air greeted him. The young man shivered, rosey frostnip dusting his cheeks as he found his room. It was sparse, for now with just a mirror and a bed. The flap that made up BoxDog's mouth distended, and soon, it was regurgitating Alex's luggage. While BoxDog did so, Alex checked himself in the mirror. As always, he was very effeminate. Hell, even beautiful. His height and build made him look more like a skinny girl, and his long, soft, platinum blonde hair was hardly doing him any favors. To top it all off, he had big, sapphire-blue eyes with long lashes.
"We should probably look for the auditorium." He said to BoxDog. He was very soft-spoken. He opened the door to his dorm, and despite his magical upbringing, he was a bit taken aback when he saw luggage following a girl in an amazingly pimped-out dress.
"A-ah! Miss!" Alex called after Viola. Even his voice made him seem like a girl. He was very soft-spoken, and when he was nervous it only became moreso. "Um. You wouldn't happen to know where the auditorium is, would you?" He asked. If anyone knew where things were, it was likely to be the person who was levitating their luggage around.
I think I'll keep the suave professionalism over flirting, despite some of his plausible lines I might have for him.
Viola might be interested in him tho
Honestly considering his love of anime Alex would think Klaus is incredibly cool and just fanboy over him.
Viola...My impression is that Alex would probably think her dress is cool but he's weak-willed enough that she'd probably end up making him her lackey.
Gender: Male Appearance: Alex is strikingly beautiful. It's even more striking when you learn that he is a boy. His hair is platinum blonde, almost pale enough to be white. It grows fast enough that keeping it short is simply not practical, so it usually stays fairly long. His lashes are very long. His skin is perfectly smooth, with almost no body hair, and he has rosy pink lips. He's got a very lean figure, with narrow shoulders and little muscle (He's working on it and enjoys swiming.) He's a bit on the short side, at 5'5. Normally he wears contacts as a matter of convenience, but he also has glasses.
Year: 1
Rank: Journeyman
Room No.:
Personality: Alex is a very gentle natured person. He dislikes conflict, and tries his best to avoid hurting or offending people. Because of this, he is extremely easy to coerce into doing things. He is somewhat timid, but is trying to get over it. He has a deep dislike of lying, and tends to feel very guilty if he does so, to the point where he avoids it at all costs. Alex is easily flustered, whether it's by being complimented or having his feminine appearance made fun of. His interests include video games, anime, the beach, kung fu movies, swimming, and soccer.
Magic Discipline: Forms: Alex's power works like a magical 3D printer. He creates materials (sometimes earthly, sometimes not) using magical power. He has specific techniques for creating those materials so they assemble themselves into a given form. Each form can be thought of as similar to a recipe: He can't just make a bunch of whatever material Shikigami is made of. He has to make Shikigami. He can dictate some features of a Form when he summons them (e.g. he can summon BoxDog at a given size, or decide what color his Fireworks are,) but he has to summon an actual form. It takes time to learn how to do a given form, too. Individual forms get stronger as Alex uses them. For example, when he first learned to use BoxDog, that form did not have the ability to change size.
Shikigami: Shikigami's default form is a 6 foot by 3 foot (Like 2 meters by 1 meter) sheet of paper-thin material. One side appears as regular paper, but with eyes and mouths drawn on it. Despite being drawn on it, the mouths and eyes move as if they are real. This side can "stick" to things, and is extremely hard to get off. You'd probably need a crowbar to do so. The other side can take on any texture. Shikigami can use this aspect to camouflage itself perfectly, even while moving. Shikigami's body is very elastic, and can stretch up to three times it's length before breaking. Shikigami can also split itself, dividing and reforming into multiple copies. Each copy shares the same hive mind. Shikigami is very flammable, and if it's too cold, it will become brittle and start to crumble. Poking one of Shikigami's eyes will cause it to immediately release its hold on an object. Shikigami moves by floating around. It can't float very quickly. It's about as fast as a brisk job would be for a human. DogBox: DogBox is a large cube, with a zig-zag shaped cut forming a jagged mouth. Two large googly eyes are on either side, it has a corkscrew-shaped tail, and four stubby, cylindrical legs. DogBox can grow and shrink, thought it always has the same strength. Its 'default' size is 2 feet on all sides. However, it can shrink down to four inches on all sides, or up to 8 feet on all sides. However, even in its largest form, DogBox only weighs about 50 pounds. This is because DogBox is hollow and made of magical cardboard. This cardboard is actually about as strong as steel. Unfortunately, it is still as flammable as regular cardboard, and soaking it in water will drastically soften it, slowing DogBox down and weakening it overall. Due to DogBox's light weight, it is very fast. About as fast as a horse. However, this also means that DogBox can be picked up and thrown pretty easily. It does have very strong jaws. If it bites you, it's probably going to take off a limb. If it just swallows you whole, you're gonna have a hard time trying to get out until it opens its mouth again. Despite it's light weight, it's actually very strong and can hold up to 500 pounds. Fireworks: Featureless spheres. They look like they're made of CGI, so it's a bit jarring to see them in real life. They can be any color Alex likes. Unlike his other summons, they're just inanimate objects, though they do levitate if Alex focuses on them, and he can make them float around. He can manipulate three at a time. There's no real limit to how far he can move them, just so long as they stay within his peripheral vision. If he loses sight of them for more than like a second or two they fall. And that's a problem, because if they get hit with a moderately strong impact, they explode, sending beautiful sparks everywhere. They're pretty, but very hot, and you don't want one exploding in your face. The sparks do burn out after about 5 feet, so Alex can just send them into the sky and set them off. They're very pretty.
Equipment: His laptop, some video games.
Biography: Alex had a pretty crappy homelife for the first ten years of his life. His father was manipulative and controlling and honestly just a douchebag in general. Finally, his mom got the nerve to split up with his father, moving from London to California. They got divorce, and Leesa got full custody of Alex...Most of the time. Conditional upon her leaving him with his father to train magic for a weekend every month. His father was a strict teacher, and constantly belittled Alex during training. He learned the fundamentals of summoning, but his relationship with his father was the most part strained. Finally, on his 14th birthday, he was told that if he went to Breakfast University, he would no longer have to spend weekends with his father. He eagerly accepted.
Master: His father, Roger. A Master rank that uses the same magical tradition as Alex. He uses his Forms to do security.
If Alex was forced to sacrifice something important in order to move forward, it would be: He doesn't have much. So if it was something that he really, truly desired he'd have to start lopping off body parts.
If Alex was offered to have a single wish fulfilled, it would be: More wishes, of course.
@HeroicSociopath I was wondering the same. Last thing: his sacrifice has to be something actually important, as in, he'd have some small measure of difficulty parting with it.
@Jay Kalton If she's uncomfortable about her height I can imagine her reaction to meeting Xinhua. Might even make them roommates just for kicks.
@HeroicSociopath As entertaining as his name is, change it. ButtMuffin too (no seriously, you should have seen this coming); everything else is fine though.
@Natsu Cute little sociopath. No problems here, just . . . pet peeve of mine, but please fix the spacing on your character sheet! It's giving me a headache.
IC up soon, just giving a few more hours for those still finishing up their characters.
So it's really up to you, since you know your character. The main idea behind how it works is that Melody can clean up emotions like hatred, disgust, and sadness, so I would be inclined to say that her abilities would have some effect, but it depends on what exactly Viola feels.
Does it work on shyness/low self esteem and is it like smoking dank kush
