Name: Rex Gardner
Race: Tulak
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Rex is a tall, slender Tulak. He has grey skin, and a mop of longish black hair, with a pair of thick, conical horns jutting out of his head. His eyes are red with black sclera.
Equipment:
Glow sticks: He got like fifty of them at the music festival.
Harmonica: A harmonica. Rex got it for prison life in particular.
Knife/Whetstone: A penknife and a stone for sharpening it. He mostly used it for whittling.
Paper: Paper he's collected during his time on Alcatraz. Mostly for drawing/writing/origami.
Lighter: He stole it from one of the guards. Just a regular lighter.
Sewing kit: A needle and thread.
Guitar: He doesn't have it right now. It was confiscated by the guards when he tried to bring it in.
Attunement/enhancements: Life Magic
Unique Ability:
Phytokinesis: In addition to the healing powers most life-attuned beings have, Rex's powers have a special effect on plants: If he has direct contact with them, he can shape and control them. This allows him to make them move as he wills, and greatly accelerate their growth. He can also distill extracts from them to make various medicines, from anesthetic to sedatives to psychedelics.
Necromancy: If Rex uses his power on non-living organic matter (Anything that was once alive but isn't anymore) he can repair and animate it. These animated beings are a little less dexterous than an average human, but are capable of running fairly fast. And they don't get tired. They can't feel pain or die, either: The only way to take them down is dismemberment. The strength of whatever he is animating is proportional to that of the base creature. If he uses it on something like dead plant matter it's only as strong as a human of equivalent size. Speaking of size, he can at any time animate the equivalent of three humans, or one object the size of four humans (~600 pounds). The objects obey verbal commands, but they aren't particularly clever. They understand things like "Protect that person" or "Carry this box over there." But more complex orders like "Drive this car one mile away and then seize the base there and steal their computers" would be beyond their capabilities. He can dismiss an animated object at any point he desires. There is no maximum range, but to do anything they have to be given an order.
Personality: Rex is an extremely laid back young man. More or less a hippie. He enjoys drugs and playing his guitar. He's a friendly guy. He has a dim view of authority figures, and a deep love of the ladies. He's got a bit of a mischievous streak, and likes getting a ride out of people, but he's at heart kind and likes to help others. Ironically, Alcatraz was probably far better for him than a normal prison, because there's no way he'd last more than a day in a regular prison. He is in fact a pacifist, and dislikes hurting others. Even if he was forced into a fight, he probably wouldn't be particularly good at it.
Bio: Rex's parents pushed him to be a healer. They said it was his responsibility. That God gave him his gift to be a healer. They pushed him really hard to it. They pushed him so hard that eventually he decided he was tired of it. He quit healer school to sell drugs and go to music festivals. Maybe he should have stayed in school, because he was caught by a narc and arrested. He might have gotten off, but he didn't really have the money to hire a lawyer, so he ended up defending himself. Poorly. So poorly that he ended up getting put on the Alcatraz.
