Why do I insist on asking idiotic questions? It's just going to make me feel more like an idiot.

Bio

Well that poem was a fun place holder but I guess I should put in a real bio.

Well to start off, I'm a 22 year old male and writing is a huge hobby of mine in general. I've been rp'ing close to about 8 years now with various outlets but since it's hard to find partners after a while I decided to join up on a forum. I hate rp'ing in fandoms that allow for non-original content so you won't find me going into any Naruto or Star Wars rp's that take place in the era of the show or attempting to just live out the in show scenes. I hate posting less than I can describe when it comes to my rp's, and love to develop expansive in depth worlds. All this lead to me trying to organize open world rp scenarios, but time's a' wastin' and I want to get my writing fix.

I don't really have any genres I won't rp if I find them interesting, but I definitely prefer Sci-fi and Fantasy settings. Really I'm not sure what else to put here, I'm having trouble finding rp's to get involved in and I'm waiting to see if mine will go anywhere before I give up pitching ideas. I prefer characters that talk over using brute strength, and this usually lands me the role as the Rogue in games such as D&D or literally every rpg ever. I don't mind playing female characters at all and I have several I love to play, but not many males that I don't just make as I go. I am very willing to go 18+, feel free to approach me with pitches.

I know I'm forgetting something... I'll come back to this.

I dig it, approved. You can clear out the helper text whenever you get around to it if you'd like. I like the picture. Now that we have at least one, I'll be sure to start you In Character within the day. Once I do, we're free to start up.

You're gonna want to move that to the character section though lol
Great. I'm currently thinking of a mage with the ability to use some sort of white energy that is harvested from oxygen's particle, which is kind of complicated and a bit fictional scientific. So basically it's everywhere, its source is almost unlimited, but the fact that it is a lot more stamina consuming than other elements balances the power. I'll go to deeper explanation in the CS

Sounds very intriguing, just don't be too overpowered.

@Scarescrow

There will be a variety of classes to be learned but generally it's going to be more loosely available, like one teacher testing your general abilities and growth similar to a real world homeroom teacher, the rest teach on certain days they choose to lecture or when directly visited by students. Similar to college. The library is an expansive collection of all history and knowledge the Archwizard can collect including hand written journals and tomes explaining specific spells. As aspiring wizards in the rp's world you're looked at with the expectation that you are eager to learn and are trusted to learn with little supervision.

So confront teachers you want to learn from specifically, go try to read what you want to learn, and interact with students and NPCs when you want to.
@Letter Bee

Sure, spellswords are a thing in DnD and even out of the DnD context I don't particularly see any problems with a mage carrying a sword if they so chose to, though between healing magic and sword proficiency you'd be a low amount of training away from being a straight up paladin. Just remember, you will be a student so try to stay first year student level. Don't go around healing broken bones when your magical proficiency calls for something more akin to closing a clean cut open wound.

I mean I am open to older year students which would have a bit more proficiency than most, but if you choose that road I will be holding you to a higher standard to maintain that extra skill.

Just keep in mind your power scaling in relation to your approved character and I won't have to divine hammer anything. lol
@Scarescrow

You're more than welcome to be mischievous or even down right evil at times if you want to be, though I warn you that your actions will have consequences if and once caught. For example if you want to be a bully, don't be shocked if you find another student shooting a fireball back at you in retaliation. If you sneak into areas you aren't allowed to be, you may draw the attention of a teacher. If you do something truly unwise such as attack a grand master, you may find your new life as a toad a little less than agreeable.

So no you don't have to be good by any means, but you do have to prepare to face the consequences of your actions. What fun would a story be with no conflict, after all?
@Letter Bee

Healing magic is allowed. Though I'll be sure to emphasize that natural talent can't really be in both harming and healing based magic as well as a similar relation between utility and sabotaging magic. Y'know, character balance.

If you're in need of a reason why it's like that, I have my own godly pantheon that's hidden from the knowledge of the world of my lore, and so healing magic and holy magic is typically just a form of channeling the same as magical energy being used in elemental magic and any other magic usage. I'll be sure to clarify the nature of magic in relation to the world.

You don't necessarily need to be a priest or religious to be talented in healing magic. Likewise you would have a good deal of talent in protection magic.
@Too Old 4 This

I wouldn't really have an explanation in lore for it so as long as you're not looking at me to explain why they can talk I'm completely ok with that. Like I say this is based in a DnD world setting but for the rp I'm leaving it VERY loosely based in it's magic as to give freedom to those that want certain abilities.

Short answer, by all means sure I'm cool with talking cats as long as we're all in agreement a talking familiar is pretty unique.

OK So I'm gonna start writing up this OOC rules, lore, and CS formats and I must admit, this was way more popular than I expected it to be so I am highly considering making it a larger group setting to allow anyone who wants to join to come in since I am encouraging new roleplayers to join in. So just wanted to let you all know, this is plenty of interest to influence me to start writing this up. I'll be putting the link here when it's done, I'll mention everyone, etc. It'll be ready by tomorrow same time, if not sooner.

THANK YOU EVERYONE, IT MAKES ME VERY HAPPY YOU'RE ALL SO INTERESTED! I LOOK FORWARD TO WRITING WITH YOU ALL!
UNTIL NEXT TIME MAGES!
@Legion02

My DnD Lore is actually entirely original, I've been working on it for roughly 5 years now on actual paper and so I don't quite have a place to recommend you go and read it. I love telling my stories though, so if you'd like to hear about the expansive world this rp is just a snippet of you're more than welcome to talk to me more about it or just research it in the rp to learn about it through exploration in character. After all the school is part of a giant all knowledge containing library. Probably the most important part of it that everyone would likely have to keep in mind is that Dragons are actually not a normal part of the world the lore takes place in, and you won't find any books on them. There are dragons, but they're more like demi-gods than monsters and you wouldn't really know if you ran into one without looking for some context clues. Have fun trying to find the few that actually will show up in this rp!~

@cinnamonmon

Not entirely, the pvp aspect will be for when Players are not only dueling but for also when they are expected to compete in their prowess of magical ability through non-violent means. So this will have some Player vs Player aspects, but also some Player competitions and maybe even a little PvE stuff. You could also try to fight me since I'd be playing most of the teachers, but y'know I wouldn't recommend that since it would be the equivalent of a fence stopping an avalanche. Cause y'know. Grand Masters vs Students would not work out well for anyone involved.
The Grand Arcanuim

Far off on the coast of the land is the port town of Sildra, a vibrant thriving fishing town happily buying and selling goods from across the land. In the dead center of the town, towering above it all as if a ever vigilant guardian, the grand Arcanium. A place where the greatest wizard of the world Azathoth has gathered knowledge for hundreds of years to learn all he can. A master of magic, and regarded as the greatest wizard of all time, he has opened his home to all that seek out knowledge. The Arcanium soon became known to all as the greatest school for aspiring wizards to attend, allowed to live and breath in the Wizard's home as they studied avidly during their days there. Here, young mages have arrived to learn any secrets the great wizards that teach at the Arcanium have to offer, and if they are truly lucky study under the great Azathoth himself. Those who have the will, and those who can strive for greatness, all will strive in this great school if they try. And always will they be welcome in the wizard's halls.

Ok so let's talk about this rp. The Arcanium is a location pulled straight from my personal DnD lore invented as a place for wizards to state their origins in. Really I loved making this location, and I wanted to take the oppurtunity to see if anyone here would like to share the experience with me of exploring the school and learning under it's many odd teachers. Competing against each other and earning grades in their wizardry classes, this rp will be one of my more casual ones and won't really be any more complicated than it needs to be to fit the DnD landscape. You will get free range on your magics, with very few spells being forbidden, and as long as you gain the approval to practice it you may add it to your spellbook to use in the rp. This isn't your average Harry Potter-esk magic rp, this is set in the vast DnD landscape, albeit in a very isolated location. So this will be a very unique experience as an rp hopefully, where you actually will have a tier list of who's more powerful than who under the absolute law of the gm, being me, to reference as a general combat scale. Though it's really up to your skills in writing to determine who would win a wizarding contest. This is a bit more light heart'd than it sounds, I promise, not too complex and encourages participants to not really know what DnD is like. I want you to experience the wonder of the Arcanium the same way your characters will, all leading up to the end of your semester (Roughly 260 rp days or 8 and a half rp months) with class projects and classes to rp in. If anyone is interested in taking a journey into the mysterious city of Sildra, and the Grand Library Arcanium, please raise your interest to my attention. If I get at least 4 people interested in enrolling, I will gladly make this a full fledged rp.

*This will be a casual rp, the lore will be available but will be explained upon request through studying or by OOC request, simply because you won't really need to know any of it to participate
*I ask that you have the skills to write at least a minimum of 2, 5 sentence structured paragraphs per post
*I am a patient man, so I won't mind a day or two of absence, but too long without an excuse and you will likely fall behind to those with good attendance.
*Diverse or not, all wizard aspirants are welcome in this library, inexperienced rp'rs are welcome among me. You can relax with us, and here you can develop a writing style without worry of being judged. I in fact will encourage others to reach out with advice.

Thank you for Viewing my interest check! Until next time mages!
@Elle Santiago That's alright, if you guys for sure have to drop it let me know. I'll stay patient, I just wanted to make sure if interest was still in this before I deleted anything.
Thanks for the heads up I was getting worried people weren't gonna wanna get to it.
