Current I want to like, make a new rp group. But I don't have any super amazing creative ideas for one.

Why do I insist on asking idiotic questions? It's just going to make me feel more like an idiot.

Bio

Well that poem was a fun place holder but I guess I should put in a real bio.

Well to start off, I'm a 22 year old male and writing is a huge hobby of mine in general. I've been rp'ing close to about 8 years now with various outlets but since it's hard to find partners after a while I decided to join up on a forum. I hate rp'ing in fandoms that allow for non-original content so you won't find me going into any Naruto or Star Wars rp's that take place in the era of the show or attempting to just live out the in show scenes. I hate posting less than I can describe when it comes to my rp's, and love to develop expansive in depth worlds. All this lead to me trying to organize open world rp scenarios, but time's a' wastin' and I want to get my writing fix.

I don't really have any genres I won't rp if I find them interesting, but I definitely prefer Sci-fi and Fantasy settings. Really I'm not sure what else to put here, I'm having trouble finding rp's to get involved in and I'm waiting to see if mine will go anywhere before I give up pitching ideas. I prefer characters that talk over using brute strength, and this usually lands me the role as the Rogue in games such as D&D or literally every rpg ever. I don't mind playing female characters at all and I have several I love to play, but not many males that I don't just make as I go. I am very willing to go 18+, feel free to approach me with pitches.

I know I'm forgetting something... I'll come back to this.

I'm still reading it, you guys really went all out. Mad props to you both.
@Rune_Alchemist

Holy crap I was in a sad mood cause someone in pms had to drop her character but now im feeling a lot better to see such enthusiasm with that post lol Thank you for that I feel confident again.

I think he's perfectly acceptable for the rp, approved. It'll be fun to see how he functions as a straight up brawler without any magical experience learning entirely from his time there.
@MULTI_MEDIA_MAN

Here in the ooc preferably.

Even with a creative approach, Shamir's magic is only good for (at least right now) healing minor wounds and transmutation, and he doesn't seem to have much ranged ability. So the fight would be very up-close and personal, which is where Kyvir accels.

Alexander seems to be capable of some ranged work, with his fire Magic, which would give him (IMO) the best odds against Kyvir depending on the fight's setting. I'd say that Alexander would do best in 50+ meters sized area, but anything less an Kyvir could get close enough to end things pretty quickly.

Garuda would be a quick fight, one way or the other. I'd assume He wouldn't attack Kyvir from a long range, as that would make it easy for Kyvir to dodge the (fairly) small explosive radius. So it'd be mid-close range, which is where they both kick ass, so It'd definitely be the most interesting.

And no I get you, I'm not arguing either.

Oh yeah without a doubt even with a creative approach Shamir is just outclassed by him. Speed and agility won't do anything to help you against someone that won't stay down you need a more cleave-y warrior to like, cut his leg off or some shit lol
@Squittens

Ah you must be the friend they mentioned. Yeah I looked it over, looks fun and possibly comedic to a degree. I approve =b

Sorry for double post
Unless Shamir is able to get range on Kyvir, it won't be a very fair fight. Shamir is likely to be a lot faster than Kyvir, but Kyvir is pretty light on his feet for the mountain he is. That, plus Shamir is an "Average" swordsman, whereas Kyvir is only alive because he was the best fighter Surthay could produce. Right now, the only people I'm seeing that could take him on would be Alexander, Garuda, or obviously, Isilfarrel.

However, with that all being said, his greatest weakness is his loyalty. Unless ordered to do otherwise by Isilfarrel, he won't attack or get into fights with people. Even if someone picks a fight with him, he will play it defensively and do little actual damage to them, only doing enough to stop them from continuing to attack him.

Actually I would personally disagree, Shamir is and he's less experienced so Shamir would without a doubt be wrecked in sword combat. But that doesn't mean he can't be creative in his approach, as a tiefling you have the bodily weak points that an experienced fighter would know to take advantage of to get in a few good shots, but magically he can be over powered rather fast. I agree Shamir vs Kyvir is a poor match up, but with more experienced sword fighters it would be interesting to see them fight. Alexander seems to be more inclined magically than physically, so right now the only toe to toe fights I can see happening is Garuda cs Kyvir or Isilfarrel vs Garuda, since Garuda I would rank as the close second strongest magically and Kyvir out classing him physically but potentially not creatively. If that makes sense. Though that's just me speculating since you know your characters better than me and their limitations, I'm only going to step in if you start getting superman syndrome and never lose.

And just so we're clear, I'm not arguing I'm just having fun discussing.

My final question would put that to bed, actually: should all the students be relatively young (college-aged by human standards) or would it be alright, if a bit odd, that a relatively older character (mid 40's-50's's dwarf) came to join the school?

Odd, yes, forbidden, nope. Knock yourself out my friend.
<Snipped quote by Spirit>

Nah,, I'm gonna try to go Facetank Paladin with magic as more of a booster for his combat skills. He's mostly here to learn about enchanting, because magic gear yo.

That works just fine. The school is fine with all people trying to wield magic regardless if they're full blown mages or not, just don't expect there to be anyone to train you with a sword.
@MULTI_MEDIA_MAN

Kinda wing'n it honestly. Not everyone is familiar with DnD so I'm honestly playing it pretty loose with the rules here. I'm trying not to alienate anyone not familiar with any particular thing you know? If you want my advice, Ill say go with Elder Scrolls since it's a bit simplified there and gives you a broad niche. You can be a paladin if you accept the fact that in this world every god is just wishful thinking except for 3 that have been lost to time. Nobody knows about the true gods at all. As long as you're cool with having a fake pantheon your character is using as their primary faith, go for it. Though I will say this since I just did a speech about power balance, strong with the sword weaker with magic, strong with magic you're a weaker fighter with the sword. We have to maintain character balance.

Divine magic is just another extension of magic application people believe to be the work of their divine pantheon. That's really all you need, you learn the lore as we go I designed the rp to be that way if anyone actually wants to know anything they can just seek it out. So it's like people making some stuff up others are just asking me as they make characters and I'm fine with all of it as long as we handwave it when my actual lore is explained in case of conflicts.
