Name: Jeremy Eckelson Age: 19 Sex: Male Appearance: Jeremy does not appear as the stereotypical young prodigies or career duelists that one would expect to see at the grand opening of Kaiba World. On the contrary, he seems as if he was picked up right off the street to play. He sits at a height slightly taller than most around his age at an even six feet, and has the thin build of a long distance runner. His dark brown hair is neatly trimmed and combed to the right, slightly spiked upwards in the front. He possesses a very expressive face, often wearing his emotions on them clear as day.
Jeremy's choice of fashion steer towards comfortable casual attire, with a peculiar affinity towards Hawaiian shirts. Depending on the weather outside, however, Jeremy will opt for a long sleeved shirt, often those with darker hues. Cargo shorts and standard jeans are also swapped accordingly.
Duel Disk: A basic model academy Ra Yellow Disk that Jeremy picked up for cheap. A decal of a five pointed star is stuck to the orb that separates the Monster Zones.
Duel Runner: Because of Jeremy's dislike of the format, he decided to buy a cheap motorized scooter model Duel Runner specifically for the event. It barely runs, but it'll get the job done.
Ace Monster: Ultimate Conductor Tyranno
Deck Master/Ability: To be included
Speed Duel Skill: Smash Under Foot: If a level 4 or higher Dinosaur-type monster you control would attack an opponents monster in face-down Defense position monster, immediately destroy it before damage calculation. This ability can only be activated once per Battle Phase.
Jeremy is most of the time in a distracted daze, fixing his attention to small details about objects or people for minutes at a time. And, at a place like Kaiba World, he would probably be seen wandering around the facilities, inspecting hallways, staring at the sky while sitting poolside, or watching birds hop around empty picnic tables looking for scraps. Jeremy also carries a portable gaming device that he sometimes decided to play.
Jeremy tends to be laid back during interactions with others. He loves small talk, often approaching and initiating conversations with strangers when not observing something abstract. He tends to talk slowly and unsystematically, often voicing the first thoughts that would come to mind.
Games like Duel Monsters have always fascinated Jeremy, as there was a lot to experience with so many cards to look through. However, Duel Monsters is not his main fascination, and Jeremy would much rather play video games instead. He especially loves games in the fighting genre, and dreams of being a pro gamer, despite the market being rather small at the moment. Because of the lack of opportunity, Jeremy has had more chances to place in Duel Monster tournaments, and because of a natural talent, was invited to the opening of Kaiba World.
Growing up, Jeremy was the youngest of his siblings and had a lot of free time. His parents both worked, and while the family lived comfortably, he was mostly left to pester his older siblings, having little time to interact with parental figures. One such sibling was a fan of Duel Monsters, which first sparked Jeremy's interest in the game. He would often try and steal cards from his brother, but his attempts were mostly thwarted, as he always attempted his thefts when his brother was mere feet away. Eventually, his brother would give his brother a deck in the form of a pile of random common cards dumped on top of him one morning, and the two of them would spend time playing together when they felt they wanted to.
As Jeremy grew up, he soon lost interest in the card game and shifted his focus to video games instead. It was at this time he found his love for fighting games, and would spend hours of the day practicing his combos and competing in various online ladders for many different games. As he grew older and more active in the small fighting game community, he found that many players also had a love for Duel Monsters, a game which he hadn't heard of in years. He would occasionally talk to his friends about the game, and would often offer a new outlook on different strategies they had. His friends, curious, asked if he played, to which Jeremy replied, "not anymore." Then, during conversations afterward, Jeremy would always be asked when he would buy cards for a deck. After all, the advice that he offered despite not playing in several years showed promise in the young duelist. It was at this point that Jeremy decided to get back in to the card game as a side hobby, while still putting many hours in to video games.
After some digging online, Jeremy was able to quickly put together an aggressive, oppressive deck, one that matched his playing style, and soon dominated his friend group with it. Soon after, Jeremy was climbing the ranks of his local game store, and managed to snag a regional win out of nowhere. Because of this sudden climb in rating, the Duel Monsters community started to take notice of him as an up and coming talent. Soon after his rise to fame, in an event that Jeremy mostly contributed to luck, he received an invite to the opening of Kaiba World. While at first speculative, Jeremy decided after many pushes from online friends to go, despite missing a few local video game tournaments. He now hopes that the trip will be worth it.
@KOGaming Actually, do you mind if I leave out a custom card for the time being? I think I would rather get one through RP and I take years to make a card.
Aryl winced as the director spoke to her through the comms. She shook her head and walked dismally through the halls in a sad attempt at finding the Doctor. "All available research staff," All five of you, Aryl thought to herself, "please be on the lookout for Dr. Wesley Tassle. He is unarmed and should be met with a calm..."
Tassle, meanwhile, was still storming angrily through the empty halls of Annex C. The absolute nerve of these people to transfer me to a facility in need of packing! In all of the archives he has looked through, not a single item of value existed within Annex C... Right? Tassle looked up at some director signs overhead. "Cafeteria," one read. Yeah, that sounds about right, Tassle thought. I wonder if they serve alcohol... I could use a drink. He heaved a stress-relieving sigh and walked in to the cafeteria. It was empty of people, and the only sources of food he cared to look for was a couple of vending machines hunched up in a corner of the room. Tassle decided they were better than nothing and walked over to them to purchase a bag of Lays and a Pepsi. He then sat at a table and took out a PDA to research the items held at Annex C. Perhaps there truly was something he missed...
It was not every day that Dr. Tassle was requested to move facilities. In fact, it was strictly prohibited for the doctor to ever leave foundation property. "It is for security," he was explained to, "in case you ever go rogue. I'm sure you understand." While Tassle knew that it was always a possibility for any of the Minerva Archive's assets to go rogue, Tassle at least wanted to not be paraded about in the back of a truck, accompanied by two lightly armed security staff. Oh, how weak minded they were, how easy it would be to bend their realities and force them to take him anywhere he wanted. He knew, however, that the rifles they held were loaded, and aside from the fact that he didn't want to die, he was admittedly curious about where he was being taken. He was told that he was needed at another facility to assist research on more dangerous space-time items, but that was the end of it. He simply had to wait...
"Now entering: Annex C Facility. State your name, security clearance, passengers, and cargo."
"Dillon Brand," the driver responded to the gate's automated messages. "Clearance Level 4, carrying two other Clearance Level 4 personnel, as well as our Special Clearance Level R you requested."
Our? Tassle frowned and leaned towards the driver in the front seat. "That's Tassle to you, and I am not theirs nor yours."
The security personnel to his left and right glared at the doctor, but he could care less. Not about the staff, not about the facility, less about the weapons being adjusted to his left and right than he had before. All he cared about was his research. He wanted, no, needed to figure out the timeline. This large influx of dangerous anomalous items, coupled with funding cuts, meant that a large number of civilian life was at risk. While Tassle could not stop the already existing supernatural phenomenon, he could at least stop all the new ones from showing up for a while.
The vehicle stopped just inside the gate, and the security personnel escorted him inside the facility. There, he was left with a young junior research staff, not even security level 4 yet.
"Dr. Tassle," she greeted him, trying her best to sound optimistic, "it's nice to meet you. My name is-"
"Don't care," Tassle interrupted. "What did you need me here for again?"
The girl was flustered, obviously, and caught very off guard by Tassle's abruptness. She balled her hands in to fists and stuck her chin up, trying to look as confident as possible. To the doctor, however, it only served to look barely cute. "I-I was assigned to keep an eye on you at this facility. You received strict orders from Dr. Pierce to-"
"Pierce?" Tassle had only met this man once, as he had not been present during any of his major disciplinary hearings. Tassle should have known he would he meeting with Pierce here. The researcher, again, was caught off guard, which was starting to get on Tassle's nerves. Out of anyone at this facility, why was she chosen to look after me? Although now that he thought about it, the place seemed eerily quiet...
The research decided that feigning confidence wasn't going to get her anywhere, letting out a sigh as she swiped strands of blonde hair from her eyes. "Listen, I just need your help preparing items for transport. I'm one of the last staff here and we needed some help with..."
Tassle's eye twitched at her words. Transport? Transport? I came here to pack some damn boxes? The doctor shook his head, pressing a finger against the researchers forehead and pushing her back a few feet. The girl staggered, and as she righted herself, noticed that Tassle was gone. Tassle had altered the researcher's reality momentarily so that he could get away from her, turning a corner and storming off. He needed to find Dr. Pierce, to get an explanation on this joke. What the hell was going on? Why was he being asked to pack boxes when he was the last person that should have been packing boxes?
The girl buried her face in her palms in embarrassment. The only thing I needed to do, and it didn't even take five minutes to lose him... She grabbed a radio clipped to her belt and pressed the button down. "Dr. Pierce, this is Aryl. I lost Tassle. He's probably headed your way. I apologize..."
Might have to just spectate this one, Summer suddenly got a lot more busy :( But I'll post a character if I have time. I'm thinking a hypnophobe who's always really tired would be fun to play.
