Ok, ill accept Salamanders if it floats several other peoples boats.
I'll join if you'll have me.

1.) Imperial Fists (because the ability to craft fortifications is a good plot device)
2.) Dark Angels (because hunting the fallen is a fun plot device)
3.) New Chapter (because this gives the ability for the GM to be flexible with all your characters and simply say "well thats just how this chapter is", and it gives the possibility to include flavors from many chapters all under one roof.) I'd keep the progenitor a secret to keep the flexibility.

Remember there's nothing to say you can't play a particularly stealthy Imperial Fist or a scout with a penchant for bionics from any other chapter. You dont have to be "type-cast".

Right now I'm thinking of going a boltgun scout, but i need to brainstorm an appropriate skill set for him. I prefer to keep the equipment simple but go wild with the skills.
Ok im interested. Ive never done a 1x1 before. Im attracted to the lore-building and character-building aspects of this game. With regards to GMing what are your expectations? Are we co-GMing or what? I would be comfortable with a situation of "villain of the week" where we take turns playing the opposition, obviously, recurring villains are likely.

On a note of my noobishness to writing, id be much happier if we were a group of 3 people. Ive found 3 to be the perfect number for creativity and you can add atleast 2 co-GMs on this platform.

I also tend to write somewhat rough-around-the-edges characters. If you arnt prepared to laugh at yourself, to argue, to duel then let me know now. I cant stand prima-donna characters that arnt ready to be told they're wrong about something. We're human, we're all wrong sometimes and ive found an entertaining duel* is the best way to resolve that in RPGs. *the duel is not to the death.

When it comes to lore im not a lawyer and never let a fact get in the way of a good story. Especially since 40k lore can sometimes be contradictory. Beyond that ive been in 40k on and off virtually my entire life. Played the 40kRPGs, GMed etc. I always liked generating regiments and characters using the rules, thats what i enjoy about my games, basically like a civilization builder.

So, this is my application to join :)
@Theyra

Are you ready to throw up the IC?
Oh Im interested right enough.

Thinking of playing a combat medic for the marines. He's probably going to be bionically augmented.

This is an interest check for a nation states style game based on a system of planets orbiting a star within Games Workshops 40,000 universe.

You will take on the role of Imperial Commanders tasked with liberation, industrialization, salvation and bringing to heel an imperial system so that it is within the vision of His Holiness the Emperor of Mankind who resides on Terra, known to antiquity as Earth.

This game welcomes the new player and old veteran with equal respect (hopefully we will have an equal party of both!!).

The game will divide players into factions from the imperial loyalists, these loyalists, though different in approaches all worship the Emperor to some degree. They will be sharing and in some cases vying for governorship of one of the planets in the system. The turns will be divided into quarters Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4 as such, four quarters make up a year. You are allowed to make 4 actions in a quarter and i shall roll for them behind the scenes and report the result. I will be using a d20 system, to increase the chances of critical successes, referred to as Nat 20s, and critical failures referred to as 1s. Players are encouraged to detail and differentiate their factions to apply bonuses to these rolls in the fashion of +1 etc. Anything above 11 will count as a success and anything below 10 will count as some version of a failure (as decided by the GM, me), synergising bonuses will have a big effect. I also encourage players to help eachother, politic and trade with each other certain bonuses and technologies.

Where it is stated, detail in posting will play an enormous part in the game. Your Commander will put the finer points on exactly how deals are made, how alliances are formed and what promises are honoured, all under the heat of battle in a galaxy where there is only war. Where applicable, the decision of the roll-offs will go to the player with the most detail, presented the most neatly, in the most timely manner. Simplified: the most awesome wins. Though bare in mind this is a casual game.

Playable factions include:

Adeptus Astartese
Astra Militarum
Adeptus Ministorum
Adeptus Mechanicus
Adeptus Arbites
Rogue Traders
Inquisition Ordo Junior

These factions are styled after the armies of the table-top but if you have an idea for one not mentioned feel free to post a query here. Each faction will come with a bonus and these are also negotiable. You will also have to detail a character sheet for your individual Commander should they ever meet another in battle or wish to lend their considerable skills to their faction on the front lines.

This is a universe where much is possible but only through service to the Emperor will true immortality be attained.

So prime your grenades, level your bolters and facing stance! Its time for another 40k game!

Welcome back, Commander.
"I am a Dryad and I speak for the trees," she said, gazing warily at the man. "Soooo... yes, I can talk, and no I am not a human."

She gave him a puzzled look. "And no, it's not uninhabited. You're all here now, so not technically. Are you from Clan MacClatch?"

Arney screwed up his face trying to understand something, Some-ONE! He'd never seen before.

A tree person?!?

Well the writes did always say only the trees with the strongest spirits were fit for shipbuilding Maybe this is the spirit in question. He breifly wondered how a woods-spirit would enjoy being a ship, but quickly realised this might be insulting so he did not say it.

"Yes, it is i, the Chieftan of Clan MacClatch who said so,
i -uh, speak for the Clan!!
-and if you have a claim to this palace i say; MAKE IT!"
Arney and his champions had entered the large building and were presently looking at the dead wizard… could it be possible to revive him? Was he waiting for someone to do so? Is it wise to do so? So many questions hung in the air.

Catarella had stationed himself by gate the outside, keeping lookout for the wagon and horse. Nervously looking around he glanced back and saw the tree seemingly sprout legs and move. “Uh CHIEF, CHIEF!!! SOMETHING MOVED!!!” Arney heard the urgency in the mans voice, it was loud enough that Cyprian and the others could hear. Arney turned about on his heel and went to the grove with purpose just in time to see Caterella running in the opposite direction, his large belly bumping into his legs as he bounded to safety.

Arney looked at the tree-creature. They were coming out of the woodwork, literally.
Arney looked at the creature, it was presently rubbing its eyes, it was not overtly threatening so he thought he'd try reason first.

“Do you speak? This castle is so old we thought it uninhabited… at least by humans” (it was obvious the castle was made for humankind and less so for trees)
"Which one of you lads is going to impress us all by going in first?" He said to his champions.
>silence<
"Just kidding... i know its me..." He said and steeled himself with a gulp.
Arney looked back and forth and slowly entered through the gate, his sword raised, flanked on either side by his champions.

He looked out on a freshly maintained courtyard.
>silence<
He didnt like the silence, it was now time to do something impressive otherwise the lads would have no stories for home.
He looked up and shouted out "HULLO IS ANYONE THERE?!? IF NOT CLAN MACCLATCH and friends CLAIMS THIS CASTLE AS THEIR OWN!"

He heard Taranis lift off into the air and looked around. That was a trick he'd never seen before.
He was flying towards the big building and he and the lads should probably keep up.

"Forward men, we've got a scout!"
